  10. @ Hi Megan, I'm Niki! Welcome to this awesome club! I'm sorry to hear that you've had a couple of setbacks, but in the end they will all be worth it! Definitely continue the positive outlook you have on the timing, because that will help significantly! The advice you got about thinking of the surgery as having a baby is great advice that I will have to remember too! I can't wait to see how you continue to do along your journey and afterwards. It's so exciting!
  11. @@losing_the_band HAPPY THOUGHTS!!!!!!! I'm sure you'll do fantastic! Btw, two of my best friends live in Florida!! They live in the Oviedo/Chuluota area of Central Florida! I love it there
  12. @@doyouhear Congrats on coming this far! So excited for you! I personally was told I could take up to six weeks, but since I have the option to work from home while I recover, I am hoping to go back a lot earlier than six weeks. Because I work with a team full of people who will have to cover some of my in-office duties while I'm out, I did have to share the information with them. I didn't go into details, but just stated that I was having a major surgery that would keep me out of the office for a few weeks. Everyone was really supportive!
  13. @@lachellove I know you had surgery yesterday and I hope all went well! Please check in with us all as soon as you can so we know how're you're doing!! <3

  16. It has been nothing but a roller coaster of emotions since I got the date. I too am having those "what if" cries and those "oh my gosh, I might be able to actually ride a roller coaster and not have to get off" cries ..all sorts of feels! LOL Thank you so much for your support. It has been amazing having all of you to come and chat with about this stuff. I am scared to death and more excited than I can ever imagine and knowing that I'm not alone helps GREATLY!
  17. First, nothing to feel bad about. Slips happen. Roll with it, learn from it, and move on to the next day. The worst thing you can do is beat yourself up over it. Guilt is a useless emotion. Second, you may want to double-check with your NUT about the pre-op diet. My surgeon & NUT stressed the biggest factor by far in shrinking the liver is keeping carbs below 20g/day (and essentially Stage 1 of the Atkins diet). As such, they are having me mix my protein shakes with Water instead of any sort of milk due to lack of carbs. And then, once I'm post-op, I'll start mixing protein shakes with 1% lactose free milk or unsweetened soy milk. But, all surgeon's/NUT's diets are different, so your mileage may vary. This is good to know, thanks for the advice! The almond milk I'm using is unsweetened and it's what is even listed in my Dietician booklet, so I would assume it's ok, but you still brought up a good point and I will reach out to her for sure. I want to be as successful as possible so I definitely appreciate the extra information! I'm on a pre-diet diet, of sorts. We started two weeks earlier than normal in case the surgeon wanted any pre-surgery weight loss (and obviously to help shrink the liver), and the two weeks before my actual surgery it will be modified. I'm not sure if I'll have less restriction or more restriction, but either way this was a good lesson learned. I want to thank everyone for their kind words, support and encouragement today! I really needed it. I was feeling incredibly defeated earlier but feel a lot better now. This whole process is a learning process and I need to just remember that and breathe!
  18. YES! I finally got it! I spent the day crying and smiling! I was very full of emotions. Thank you girl!
  19. @@Tomlam Thanks for putting it that way. I really wasn't looking at it like that at all, so I appreciate your outlook! @@funkecoldmedina I am glad you stopped beating yourself up about the salad! At least you made a GOOD choice! It could've been much, much worse. On the liquid diet I'm on, I have a list of about 20 vegetables that I can eat freely and all types of lettuce is one of them, so I am allowed to eat salads. I just have to use a low sodium or "light" dressing. I've just been using balsamic vinegar or 2 TBSP of light ranch. Otherwise, it's shakes, Soups, puddings, applesauces and cream of wheat! It's really not that bad. But you bring up a good point about letting it go and moving on...I will do just that! @@armywife79 BEST PEP TALK EVER! Thank you so much for your kind words and reminder that I am stronger and braver than I think I am and mistakes aren't really mistakes, just opportunities to learn. You guys truly are wonderful and I am so glad to have you all, and this site, as I continue on towards a healthier, happier me.
  20. @@funkecoldmedina Thanks girl! I really just felt so defeated when I looked at the serving size today.. I appreciate the support! Lesson learned going forward, that's for sure!
  21. Well, I'm at exactly one week liquid diet and realized that I have not been using enough Protein powder in my shakes. When the dietician was talking to me about Protein Shakes, she kept saying "put a scoop in some almond milk" and I obviously did what she said instead of reading the directions, so shame on me. Something prompted me to read all of the ingredients today and basically one serving is 2 scoops. I missed that. Completely. And surprisingly enough, the shakes taste a lot better now that I've used the right servings for once. LOL I really hope this isn't a sign of more failures to come. I feel really really stupid today for not noticing that before. Thankfully, surgery isn't until 9/2 so I have a few more weeks to redeem myself! Has anyone else ever done this?
  22. @@cslove Hey Connie, I'm Niki! Congrats on your upcoming surgery! I look forward to hearing about your journey!
  23. @@Tomlam That doesn't sound strange at all! I think a lot of us probably feel the same way This morning I realized I haven't been doing my shakes right, so I immediately felt like a failure. This is the first time I've ever done this so I expected to screw up once or twice, but not on my Protein shakes Here's to doing it right from here on out.. LOL
  24. @@klovek0729 of course! I will send you a friend request and if you'd like to ever chat via private messaging, feel free to reach out at any time! I'd be glad to help support you through this process as would anyone on here. I have found nothing but kind, understanding and non-judgmental people so far on this site. We're all here for the same reason!! Opinions are like belly buttons, every one has one. After a while you just learn to shut them out and carry on. You don't owe anyone any explanations and you never need to justify your reasons for making the choice you did because it was YOUR choice, not anyone else's. In the end, you'll be healthy and alive and that is really all that matters. If people can't see that, then that's on them. Try to keep your head up through this process because you and I both know, while it isn't going to be easy, it will be worth it.
  25. @@klovek0729 Hello! Congrats on your journey! When did you start?
