Newbie who is Almost There!
Hi! I am scheduled for 09/02, just a couple of weeks after you Congrats! I just posted to you on another topic, but the pre-op diet literally sucks the life out of you the first few days. I had a constant dull headache and fatigue and I was really crabby. After about day 4 or 5 you should hopefully feel a lot better. We're all different so you might even feel better sooner! Where in CA are you located @TomIam?

Looking for preop friends :)
@@geronimo Awesome, congrats on the surgery date!! Can't wait to hear how well you do through your journey! Good luck on the pre-op diet! It's not easy at first, but you'll get used to it..I PROMISE! @@Tomlam Hi there! Congrats on your surgery date! The pre-op diet is rough the first few days, I struggled with a headache and fatigue for a few days, but I am at exactly one week tomorrow and am feeling a lot better. Tonight my meal consisted of a little bit of zucchini, 1/2 cup of Soup, a Protein shake and a lot of Water. It was pretty filling! I wish you the best these next two weeks and can't wait to hear about your journey after surgery! @@mlmanney Disney is literally 50/50 right now. There are other factors (like costs, because the surgery expenses right now are ridiculous..) but mainly I want to feel good enough to go and not over do it. Luckily I have until the day before to cancel the hotel without fees, so I can wait until the last minute if need be. I am not originally from Sacramento, but I spent most of my life from about 2nd grade on here in Sac. I was originally born in Fremont, CA..in the east bay area. From 2011-2010 I lived in Nashville, TN and fell in love with it. I am hoping to go back there and stay there soon! How are you enjoying SoCal?

@@Big_Mama Thank you for the information! I went to the website and filled out a form to see if I qualify. This would be amazing if I did!

Good on you for working to lose 30 pounds before surgery. I gained weight eating "last meals" until I started my 2 week pre op diet. I haven't even been able to make 500 cals a day on the diet they have me on so I'm hoping I'm dropping weight like I dropped my last bf LOL, I hope I'm dropping weight like you dropped your last bf too!

@@ReeseLanden Yay!! So happy for you that your day is right around the corner!! I can't wait to see how well you do and look forward to hearing your post-op stories! I am on day 6 of the liquid diet and I'm actually feeling a lot better than I was in the beginning. I was getting headaches, I was exhausted. It was rough! My dietician put me on the liquid diet a couple of weeks early to be proactive with liver shrinkage and weight loss, although that wasn't necessary But any weight loss before, could potentially lead to better weight loss after, so I was game to do it. I imagine the two weeks actually before surgery, I'll be on the same diet, with a little less restriction. I check in with her next week on Wednesday, and then my family visit is the day right after. I have one more round of blood work to do, too. I can't help but have this sense of worry with next week's weigh in. I don't look or feel any different and I know that if I step on that scale and haven't lost any weight, I will break down right then and there! LOL

I am currently in Sacramento! I'll be in SoCal (hopefully) mid October. I had a Disneyland trip planned before getting my surgery date, when I thought it would be a lot longer to get in, and I'm hoping I"ll have recovered enough to go. Both the dietician and surgeon have told me it should be good, with all of the walking, but I don't know how my abdomen will feel so I'm up in the air right now. I started this process in February as well! My insurance required 6 months of weigh-ins along with numerous other adventures that are FINALLY OVER! I can't believe I have 3 weeks left!!

@@britt_lewis2011 Woooo congratulations girl! You are almost there! So happy for you @@losing_the_band The coordinator at my office is the only one who schedules surgeries. There are a ton of people working there, but only she schedules! It's crazy! I told her that she was harder to get a hold of than the President! The first time I made contact with her, she was supposed to email me my lab requisition and a referral for radiology for my chest xray and it took her THREE DAYS from the day we spoke, with me reminding her EVERY DAY! I was so so mad! Once I actually met her, and saw her desk..I got over it. She is one busy lady! I love her to death now that I know her and I think I've become her favorite because I'm always so positive and forgiving lol @@MrsAce I'm so sorry I missed your post...congratulations on coming so far!!!

@@mlmanney Then that day must be good luck!!! It's unfortunate to hear that you had to add on an additional month, but you've got this! You've come this far and you're gonna kill the extra month like you've killed the rest. I know how you feel though, with the impatience and the anxiousness. Yesterday I got the surgery authorization approved and cried almost all day because the Patient Coordinator in my surgeon's office was on PTO and I had to wait until today to get a date. LOL When I talked to her this morning, I said "who gave you permission to take time off?" LOL My emotions have been a HOT MESS for the past two days. I can't imagine it getting any better from here! Where in CA are you?

Pre Op Diet Day 5
@@mishi I want to give you the biggest hug possible right now! I am so sorry that you've experienced this. Your friend is clearly misinformed and obviously has not done his research on WLS at all. Everyone always has to throw in their two cents, no matter what. And guess what? Opinions are like belly buttons..everyone has one. Just shrug it off and remember WHY you are doing this and WHO you are doing it for! You really don't have to answer to anyone else or justify your reasons. It's nobody's business. Having said that, I have a friend who is against my surgery too and we had to agree to not discuss it anymore if we wanted to remain friends. Her reason for disliking my WLS is because she will be the only fluffy friend and I think that makes her more insecure, if not jealous. I love her, but I am not the least bit worried about her or her opinion. In the end, I'm healthier and happier and ALIVE and that is all that matters! Keep your head up honey! <3

I actually got a surgery date today of 9/2! I could not stop crying when the office called me to schedule. I went through such a range of emotions that I didn't even expect to! I am so excited for all of us..we're going to kick some weight loss butt and get healthy in the process!

So...a water park happened...
@@LipstickLady Your post excites me more than the thought of having surgery! My three boys always ask to go to a Water park and being overweight, I shy away from them thus making my kids miss out. It makes me feel horrible to deny them such a fun, simple pleasure because I can't put my insecurities behind me. This will all change and I cannot wait! Thank you for the big ole grin you gave me today!

Post Op Day 4- First Emotional Break of Sorts
@@ShareeB You are more than welcome! The journey to surgery and the journey after surgery is hard, but in the end it is WORTH EVERY MINUTE! When you are healthier than you've ever been and can fit into jeans you haven't worn since high school, you will look back on these hard days and see how much you kicked their butt! You're stronger than you think you are so just keep your head up and keep pushin!! <3 P.S. Thanks for bursting my bubble on the french fry thing - I really thought I had a trick up my sleeve into mashing them up into "mashed potatoes" lol

Newbie who is Almost There!
@@mishi Hi! It's nice to meet you! I just went directly to your profile and added you as a friend so now we should be good to go! I am so excited for you being 10 days out! I just got approved today for surgery and conveniently the patient coordinator at my surgeon's office is out today, so I will wait anxiously to talk to her tomorrow! LOL I hear you with the struggling all your life, me too. I would lose, and then regain. What really pushed me over the edge was getting pregnant. With my first son I put on 30 lbs, never lost it. Then got pregnant again, gained more, never lost it, and then got pregnant the final time and gained even more weight. Being overweight hurts. You can't work out like "normal sized" people can and you can't breathe right, it just sucks. So this is where I am at today! I want to be healthy for me and my family, my three boys especially. I want to be that cool mom who can roller skate or ride bikes or roller coasters with her kids without feeling embarrassed or have the fear of being humiliated or honked at or stared at or commented about. My friends tell me "who cares what other people think?" easy for you to say, you're not heavy. I used to not care until I had kids. Now they can get made fun of because of how I look and that kills me. Anyways, now that I have friended you (and you @Cervidae) we can keep in touch and motivate each other and be support systems. Sound good??

Post Op Day 4- First Emotional Break of Sorts
@@ShareeB, first off you are gorgeous and congratulations on taking this step! Secondly, thank you for sharing your story. I am a newbie here and am still pre-op ( just receiving authorization approval today) and I appreciate knowing your post-op experience so I can know what to potentially expect from mine. Although everyone is different, and has a different amazing story to tell, it has been pretty common to read that most people experience this same exact realization that you've come to, so you are not alone! It is so hard to train our minds to not eat what we used to eat, or eat the amounts that we used to eat. Definitely something I've been trying to work on myself. I'm on the liquid diet right now and all I want is a stinking french fry from McDonald's!! lol You're a rockstar and I hope you know that! I wish you nothing but the best and look forward to seeing your progress; I know you'll be successful!
