    Insure nutrition on its way

I literally just got a call from Insure Nutrition going over my application and the products I've chosen. They will now send it over to the pharmacy to process and see how it goes. She said about 2-3 weeks before I hear how it goes! I am not going to get my hopes up, but if this works I will be extremely thrilled! That's one less expense I'd have to worry about Thank you for keeping hope alive! lol So happy for you..that's a lot of product!

  8. Hi All! I am a newbie to this forum but boy am I glad I found it! I have read so many entries from people who are experiencing the same fears or worries that I am, and it makes me feel like I am no longer alone! Talking to my friends who are not overweight don't understand; they don't get it. I'm tired of having conversations with people who tell me that I could lose this the "normal" way if I just tried. Clearly I've tried, and failed, so here I am today going down the WLS journey. I am pre-op and waiting for my insurance to approve the authorization for surgery. I have Hills Physicians and they quickly approved the authorization to see the surgeon, so I know they'll quickly approve the auth for surgery. I am SO close! My dietician has already started me on the liquid diet to be proactive in shrinking my liver and to lose as much weight as possible to assist in being more successful after surgery. I will probably be on the liquid diet, with less restrictions, for the last two weeks of August while my surgeon is on vacation. I am anticipating surgery to be sometime in September. I just wanted to say hello and thank everyone for sharing their stories. I have read so many posts and am so happy to have a place to go when I freak out and need some reassurance! Please don't be a stranger, send me a message and say hi or send me a friend request

@ Hi Megan, I'm Niki! Welcome to this awesome club! I'm sorry to hear that you've had a couple of setbacks, but in the end they will all be worth it! Definitely continue the positive outlook you have on the timing, because that will help significantly! The advice you got about thinking of the surgery as having a baby is great advice that I will have to remember too! I can't wait to see how you continue to do along your journey and afterwards. It's so exciting!

    Newbie who is Almost There!

@@doyouhear Congrats on coming this far! So excited for you! I personally was told I could take up to six weeks, but since I have the option to work from home while I recover, I am hoping to go back a lot earlier than six weeks. Because I work with a team full of people who will have to cover some of my in-office duties while I'm out, I did have to share the information with them. I didn't go into details, but just stated that I was having a major surgery that would keep me out of the office for a few weeks. Everyone was really supportive!

It has been nothing but a roller coaster of emotions since I got the date. I too am having those "what if" cries and those "oh my gosh, I might be able to actually ride a roller coaster and not have to get off" cries ..all sorts of feels! LOL Thank you so much for your support. It has been amazing having all of you to come and chat with about this stuff. I am scared to death and more excited than I can ever imagine and knowing that I'm not alone helps GREATLY!

    Feeling Like a Failure Today..

First, nothing to feel bad about. Slips happen. Roll with it, learn from it, and move on to the next day. The worst thing you can do is beat yourself up over it. Guilt is a useless emotion. Second, you may want to double-check with your NUT about the pre-op diet. My surgeon & NUT stressed the biggest factor by far in shrinking the liver is keeping carbs below 20g/day (and essentially Stage 1 of the Atkins diet). As such, they are having me mix my protein shakes with Water instead of any sort of milk due to lack of carbs. And then, once I'm post-op, I'll start mixing protein shakes with 1% lactose free milk or unsweetened soy milk. But, all surgeon's/NUT's diets are different, so your mileage may vary. This is good to know, thanks for the advice! The almond milk I'm using is unsweetened and it's what is even listed in my Dietician booklet, so I would assume it's ok, but you still brought up a good point and I will reach out to her for sure. I want to be as successful as possible so I definitely appreciate the extra information! I'm on a pre-diet diet, of sorts. We started two weeks earlier than normal in case the surgeon wanted any pre-surgery weight loss (and obviously to help shrink the liver), and the two weeks before my actual surgery it will be modified. I'm not sure if I'll have less restriction or more restriction, but either way this was a good lesson learned. I want to thank everyone for their kind words, support and encouragement today! I really needed it. I was feeling incredibly defeated earlier but feel a lot better now. This whole process is a learning process and I need to just remember that and breathe!

    Feeling Like a Failure Today..

@@Tomlam Thanks for putting it that way. I really wasn't looking at it like that at all, so I appreciate your outlook! @@funkecoldmedina I am glad you stopped beating yourself up about the salad! At least you made a GOOD choice! It could've been much, much worse. On the liquid diet I'm on, I have a list of about 20 vegetables that I can eat freely and all types of lettuce is one of them, so I am allowed to eat salads. I just have to use a low sodium or "light" dressing. I've just been using balsamic vinegar or 2 TBSP of light ranch. Otherwise, it's shakes, Soups, puddings, applesauces and cream of wheat! It's really not that bad. But you bring up a good point about letting it go and moving on...I will do just that! @@armywife79 BEST PEP TALK EVER! Thank you so much for your kind words and reminder that I am stronger and braver than I think I am and mistakes aren't really mistakes, just opportunities to learn. @@Tomlam That doesn't sound strange at all! I think a lot of us probably feel the same way This morning I realized I haven't been doing my shakes right, so I immediately felt like a failure.
