    Submitting to insurance

You're more than welcome! I completely agree with you that getting to the point you're at now is amazing. I had to have 6 months of weigh ins, along with a long list of pre-requisites, and when I finally got to the surgery authorization point it was overwhelming and exciting. I couldn't believe that all of my hard work up to that point was finally worth it. It was even more exciting when I got my surgery day! Please keep us posted on how things are coming along! xo

    H. Pylori?

@@doyouhear I had to have this test done multiple times. When they were first trying to diagnose some of my stomach/digestion issues (which we later found out was GERD), I had to give a stool sample to test for H. Pylori and then they tested me again for it during my upper endoscopy and then I had to do a breath test for it as part of my pre-requisites for surgery. Needless to say I'm 300% sure I don't have H. Pylori. LOL Unless you're having signs/symptoms of H. Pylori I wouldn't worry too much about it, however I'm on board with @armywife79. If it worries you, just ask to have it done. The breath test is super easy and painless @@funkecoldmedina Interesting that you didn't have to have an endoscopy..all pre-requisites are definitely different!
  5. I too am making a list of all of the things I want to do when I'm smaller and it's helping me overcome the fears and anxieties I am having about the surgery because it's showing me that the reward far outweighs the risk. Some of my items are roller skating, ziplining and parasailing! I even have some things that are simple like running or riding a bike!

@@sweettooth2015 Fingers crossed for you to get your approval! My doctor tried to submit at the 5th visit weigh in, and even provided information about the sixth weigh in being scheduled, and my insurance denied it. Hopefully yours will go differently!! xo

    Surgery tomorrow and nervous...

Good Morning @@mimic86! I haven't had my surgery yet, but I wanted to let you know that all of the things you are worrying about seem completely normal to me. You are not alone! The day I got my surgery date, I was elated! As each day has passed, I've second guessed my choice a million times and ran through a list of all the things that could go wrong and how I could screw this second chance up! Believe me, not one moment has passed where I haven't been scared to death. But, realistically the reward far outweighs the risk and I am confident that after the surgery is all said and done, I will look back and all of these worries and anxieties and know they were worth every moment and every pound lost. Congratulations on your second chance at life and best of luck to you during surgery and beyond...I know you'll do great!! xo You're braver and stronger than you think! @@Madeleine Renee Same to you! Good luck and best wishes on your journey!

    10 day liquid diet!

Hi @@leroy mann! My surgery isn't until September 2nd, but I've been on a liqiud(ish) diet since 08/05! I go in this week for my Family Visit/check-in to see my progress and my diet will be modified for the last two weeks before surgery. I have stuck to my diet almost perfectly! The day I started was the exact day I was going to a concert later that night, so while I had a Protein shake for lunch, I ended up going out for pizza before the concert that night and started my diet hardcore the very next day. Since I started the diet unexpectedly and didn't have time for a "food funeral", I didn't feel guilty about my decision at all. My diet allows for me to have certain vegetables freely throughout the course of the two weeks, so if I'm feeling hungry, I just snack on some cucumber or broccoli or something approved from my list to curb my hunger. It was very hard at first, but it got easier. I'm almost two weeks out and some foods I can't stand the smell of already!!

    Feeling Like a Failure Today..

Sweet!! Thanks for the info @@geronimo! That excites me because I know these shakes are already getting old.. LOL I'm going to get some unflavored Protein powder to add to food and maybe even try the sugar free Torani syrups people keep talking about to add some "pizazz" to a shake..hopefully mixing it up a little will keep me from getting bored!

    ? About clearances

@@Sajijoma Hey Doll! I personally had a long list of things that I had to do for my surgery. A lot of them I got done super early (like the psych eval, the abdominal ultrasound, the endoscopy, the pap smear, etc.) because they did not have expiration dates and then some of them I had to wait until closer to my surgery date because they did (specifically the chest xray and EKG). I was constantly doing blood work and I had to do 6 months of consecutive weigh ins. I also had to go to one seminar, support group and dietician class that my surgeon's office holds, which were all incredibly informative. So I got as much stuff done as early as possible, with the exception of the things I knew needed to be done closer to the surgery. I did not have to do a sleep study, but I am reading that a lot of people did. This probably just depends on which route you're going (self pay or insurance) or what your surgeon requires. Everyone's circumstances are different so I would recommend asking your surgeon or the office on what you can get done now, if anything, and what you need to wait on, that way you're not wasting your time doing them over and over again.

    Feeling Like a Failure Today..

@@geronimo When you say it comes in so many other flavors, do you mean other flavors of tea or other flavors that are not tea? I am not a fan of anything tea flavored but these look like a good option, so I'm hoping you'll say other flavors outside of tea!

    Feeling Like a Failure Today..

Right now I have to be on Protein shakes that are only sold at my surgeon's office. They are expensive, and I hate that they're expensive, but it wont be forever. About 1-2 months post op I can go to any Protein powder/drink as long as Im getting the amt of protein I need daily. I actually applied for Insure Nutrition to see if my insurance would cover the protein/supplements and if they do, I'll be getting Premier Protein shakes Thank you for the great information !!

@@Sajijoma Thank you for the pick me up! You're 100% right! Xo
  21. I got a call from Insure Nutrition today verifying my information and protein/supplement choices. She told me it takes about 2-3 weeks and someone would be in touch with the outcome. I'm not going to get my hopes up, but if my insurance approves it that will be one less thing I need to worry about post-op! Fingers crosssed! Good luck to those who tried and to those that weren't approved, don't let it get you down!

Psych eval - is this normal?

I only had one visit with my Psych doctor. I had to answer the 300 questions and then our evaluation session lasted about one hour. He told me he would clear me for surgery and faxed a letter to my doctor while I was there. Seemed pretty painless. I'm sorry yours seems to be a bit more difficult.

  25. I was thrown onto a pre-op diet earlier than most unexpectedly, as we were trying to be proactive with pre-op weight loss and liver shrinkage. I am on Day 8 of a two week diet and will go in for a weigh-in next week and I'm assuming, be on another pre-op diet with either more or less restrictions until surgery. Because I was not aware of the fact that I would start a pre-op diet on the day I saw my dietician, I was not able to have a "food funeral" and at first I was extremely disappointed at this because I had already picked out where I was going and what I was eating, but now I'm over it. I'm kind of glad I didn't get to do it! I don't have any plans to do anything for myself before my surgery, but it really isn't a bad idea. I love what you've all come up with and look forward to reading more ideas. The pedicure is actually something I'm considering so far! Thanks for sharing, these are all fun to read!
