    Honey and Lemon Water

I haven't tried it myself but I would be willing to bet it is the honey putting the weight on! Water and lemon alone won't. Curious to find out if it does work for you though. Keep us posted!
  2. Congrat's Elode! I'm so glad you decided to share your success with us! It serves as an incentive to us all who are waiting for surgery. Keep up the good work!
  3. Here's to you Radar, one for the road (of WLS)! Your post made me laugh!
  4. Krista132, you have inspired me even more than I already was! My first treat to myself after I have lost 100 lbs is to plan a trip that includes flying! Thanks for sharing! Congrat's on your success!
  5. I have to say that reading your post I was like "been there, done that"! I finally bought my own seatbelt extender so I wouldn't have to ask for one. So I honestly feel your pain and happy you are able to start the journey with us. I have my first consult with the internist on 9/23 so you are ahead of me. I haven't seen the nut yet. Happy to have you on the BariatricPal team!

    TT Scar Pics

Your surgeon did an amazing job and you look fabulous! May I ask who did your TT? I'm far away from that point yet but just gathering info for two years from now when I hope to go the next step. Thanks for sharing your pics! Your stomach is rockin' girl!
  8. My surgeon does not even do lap bands anymore, and said many of the surgeries he does today are revisions from band to sleeve or bypass.
  9. I haven not tried mine yet. Did you like it just following the instructions, or did you have to tweek it? Thanks!
  10. Nikki, thank you! Because in all this euphoria of deciding to have it done I didn't even think about the 2016 deductible starting over! Good job of reminding me!
  11. Hi! Is there anyone that has chosen Dr. Stephan Myers at the Weight Management Center thru Reading Health System, Reading PA? I went to the required seminar to start the ball rolling on 8/6. As of today, 8/25, I still have not heard from them. I emailed both the Patient Representatives, one of them twice, as they advised us to do rather than calling. After no response I did call one of them and left a msg on her voicemail. Maybe this is normal to wait this long to be contacted after the seminar, I don't know. I just feel like 3 weeks have been wasted, and wondering if anyone else has had this problem with them. Thanks!
  12. I finally heard from them today. She said my registration sheet got left in her folder. I go see the internist on the 23rd. My ins requires three month nutritional counseling so I'm probably looking at surgery late Dec early Jan. Kinda hoping for Jan to avoid the holidays and having to be on a liquid diet during that time! LOL

    New to fifties group

Don't skimp on your Protein. I've read so many posts about hair loss after surgery because people were not getting enough protein. They simply didn't have the appetite to drink it. Did you have the problems with painful gas afterward? How soon did they get you up to walk and how painful was it? I'm sorry for the questions, and I know each person's pain tolerance is different. Was just wondering. Hope your Lab is by your side watching over you. They always know when we are sick or hurt. Hugs!

    Anyone from Reading PA?

Hi! I am not from Reading but I am going thru the Reading Health System Weight Management Center. Not sure if that is where you had your surgery. I attended their seminar almost three weeks ago and have yet to hear from them which is driving me crazy! I feel like almost a whole month has been wasted. When did you have your surgery, and are you glad you got the by-pass? I want the sleeve but I know he may encourage the by-pass. I'm just not in a place that I am ready for all that it would involve long term. I haven't been thru it yet, but I am a good listener if you need to talk. Hugs and prayers! Kat

Smye, I am so happy for you right now I am smiling (even though you can't see me!). I prayed for you yesterday, all day, and am so glad that you are in a much brighter place today. You are an amazing person, and your wife I'm sure agrees.

    New to fifties group

Newbie here! I'm 56 and finally decided it was time to change my life. And I just heard about the gastric sleeve. I looked into WLS before and didn't want the by pass or band. I hope that when the time comes he can do the sleeve laparoscopically. I have had two C-sections, abdominal hysterectomy, and an umbilical hernia repair. All I'm sure have left scar tissue, so I'm praying these won't be a problem. I am very excited to be entering this next phase of my life, and looking forward to the journey with all my BP friends! Hope you all have/had successful journeys as well! What are some things you wish you would have known going into this process? Thanks!

So it turns out my wife is gay...

I commend you for the understanding and compassion you are showing your wife during this difficult time for you both. Not many men that I know of would be this kind receiving this news. Please don't let this interfere with your weight loss journey. It's just a speed bump in the road of life! You both will get stronger through counseling and since no one can predict the future, who knows what lies ahead. She may realize after experiencing a relationship with a female that it is not what she wants after all, and come running back to you. Just always leave the door of communication open. Stay the friends you were before you married, and let her know you will always be there for her whether it's a shoulder to cry on, or an ear to listen with! Prayers to you for strength, and know that all your friends here have your back! We will always listen as well!

    Best Protein Powders

I have only tried the unjury chocolate Splendor and I mix it with Fairlife milk, throw in some ice cubes, and mix it in my blender. It tastes like a Wendy's Frosty! Very good! I have the strawberry and vanilla but have not tried them yet. Like you, I am just trying flavors out to see which one to buy since they are expensive. Unjury has sample packets for $1.99 each you can order. Good luck with your weight loss and surgery! Update: I tried the strawberry, yuck, I choked it down. Yesterday I had the vanilla and put some Jif powdered PB in it, not bad!
  25. Hi Naomi! I would be on that phone tomorrow as soon as his office opens demanding a call back from your surgeon as to why he had to do the open surgery rather than the laparoscopic. If it was medically necessary then at least you can rest assured that he acted in your best interest, and put your mind at ease. As soon as you can apply anything to your scar I would start using the Mederma scar ointment. I haven't had my surgery yet, but I did buy some because I had a umbilical hernia repair in 2007 and this stuff greatly reduced the appearance of my scar. Congratulations on your new journey, and may you see much success!
