  1. Talk about frustration. I went to my last visit before surgery with my surgeon (whom I don't like and don't mesh with as I've mentioned before) and he asked what my exercise plan was and what goal weight I set. I told him 130 (which is low 150 would be high ) and that I was going to start out with Water aerobics then Aqua Zumba then laps and then when laps were easy see what then. And he basically said that water exercise is useless. It's for people who can't do anything but that and not a good workout. That if I want that kind of weight loss I need to be walking then running 5 times a week plus lifting weights 2-3 times a week and not "fool around with" water exercises. Well here's the truth. I have immense back and foot pain due to my weight. Just 15 minutes or more walking or standing makes me really hurt. And I also get extremely nauseous if I get overheated. So it seemed like water exercises were a good start. I know I'll be able to do more as I lose more but he seemed to have the opinion that if I'm not doing hard core cardio and strength training right away I can't achieve that kind of loss and any time spent in the water was just a waste But I don't know how I could do what he wants either. I can barely walk to the mailbox without getting out of breath and barely stand for 15 minutes without being in pain .... I need some Encouragement. Has anyone lost 130 pounds on a more moderate exercise plan? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. @@BarrySue you couldn't have expressed my thoughts better. If I don't like the exercise I know I won't stick with it.. I should but I won't.. so for now.. Water exercise that I will like and give me a good work out I feel like makes sense for me..
  3. @@ildaresende I'm so glad you're feeling good! Kick this pre-opp diet's behind!
  4. 800 calories with high Protein and avoid sugary or fried foods. I know it's a lot more lenient than a lot but I'm definitely still going through major withdrawal even with these "easy" restrictions Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Oh except fruit is okay. 5. I wasn't really hungry also. More head hunger, cravings, and other unfun stuff I'll have meat with supper tonight maybe it'll help Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. FYI. The Protein shake was Breakfast and lunch combo. The Jello was a snack. The veggie salad was supper and the cottage cheese was another snack. That was a full day of food and I stuck within my limits. My Protein Shake kept me full for several hours and I added fruit and yogurt and stuff to it plus the milk that's why it was so high lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Well I've managed to get in half of my liquid for the day (going on a 60 ounce model for now because I'm used to drinking 20-30 )

  9. @@VSGAnn2014 - that's true .. but her responses were inflammatory and.. honestly pretty downer and mean.. and at that point is when I ask people to leave. I can handle if someone doesn't agree with me but be polite about it.. but when they say things like "Well if you want people to lie to you go ahead" - because I'm very much a Thumper person.. I believe this forum exists to offer encouragement (and yes correction but always POSITIVELY done) and if you can't do one of those two things.. then you should resist from giving your opinion on a thread - especially to someone who started the thread saying they were already down and out.. that's like kicking someone when they're down.
  10. Seeing as how it seems that you are the one person in this thread who doesn't agree with me I'm pretty sure they're not lying to me.

  12. @@PissiChrissi You're missing part of my plan anyway - I was going to START with Aqua aerobics.. - my end goal is to be able to do an hour of laps at least 4-5 times a week in addition to aqua zumba at least 1-2 times a week.. I have a feeling that will lose the pounds. Also I have an elliptical and I'm not afraid to use - when I get to that point and if I like it - in addition to all those other things. I also have a dog who loves to bike but I haven't been able to do that in quite a while. But that said.. I can lose the amount of weight I want doing Water exercise - it will not be all aerobics.. but it can be done and will be done and when I do I'm going to write my surgeon a letter with before and after pics and tell him exactly how I lost the weight and if you'd like me to send you one as well I'll be happy to. But unless you're going to support me and all the other people in this thread who lost a lot of weight due to various water exercises then just take your negative opinion elsewhere please. It's not needed nor desired here.
  13. How would one go about counting the calories in a marinated veggie salad. Ie veggies soaked in Italian dressing. You just eat the veggies and drain off the dressing into the container but some coats the veggies and stuff. How do you count the calories ? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Calories in a marinated salad?

Next time I make this I'll do it that way.. would've been sooo much easier lol.
  15. @@Marissela I attempted to FB message you - hopefully I got the right one. LOL check your message requests.
  16. Some people suggested I get my body used to more liquid during my preopp diet (it's not a Fluid. Mostly reg food but 800 cal). Because now I only drink about 30 oz a day. Now. I have to confess. I've never had a diet really succeed. I've never seen the numbers go down. So I was excited since a lot of people say they lost on this liver diet. But if I work to double my fluid won't the Water weight keep me from losing Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. You guys are great. Thanks for sticking up for me!

    Calories in a marinated salad?

Okay after a lot of work.. 24 Tbs (90 cal for 2 tb) in the salad (2160 cal) + huge bowl of veggies which are very small in calories I measured it out to about 20 servings 2160 / 20 = 108 - maybe 25 cals each serving for the veggies. SO About 140 calories per serving. - to be safe 150 calories a serving. Wow.. Lots of work LOL

    Calories in a marinated salad?

Yes I made it - it has veggies marinated in Italian dressing (should've done lite but I really hate it lol) however it is all veggies : Broccoli, cauliflower, tomato, carrots, cucumber, and green pepper is what's in it. + like half a bottle of the dressing (though the amount of servings is a ton it made a gigantic bowl.. I wouldn't begin to know how to calculate the servings it has -in- it because the bowl was very large.. I think all the veggies are calorie free right? so it's literally just the dressing.
  21. Who knows! Maybe my exercise tastes will change right along with my food tastes! PS if I asked him about Michael Phelps he'd probably say that Michael Phelps got his muscles from lifting weights on the side not swimming
  22. @@OutsideMatchInside hee! at least if I'm sweating in the Water I can cool down immediately post workout without having to go anywhere.. just give myself a dunk under the water XD Basically I'm so incredibly relieved that.. basically to reach my goal.. like I probably can get there following the plan I set for myself.. 24. You guys are rockstars! Thank you so so so so soooo much for bringing a smile back to my face.. I needed it. (Oh did I mention he was running late from surgery so he was two hours late for my appointment at which he did nothing but ask if I was feeling healthy and then the other conversation ensuded and then I nodded and he said okay see you in two weeks and left? aiii) @@VSGAnn2014 - the thing about losing weight in the kitchen and not the gym makes quite a lot of sense.. exercise is important but nutrition (and proper nutrition) is even more vital so.. seems to me that it's time to do what I do best with him... Nod.. curse illinois medicaid again.. and figure it out for myself. So glad this forum is here. Gosh knows what else he'll have bad advice about. I'm a little afraid to find out!!! @ - I'm stuck with him due to my insurance restrictions. So.. I just have to make due and lean on you guys and the wealth of knowledge here and not let him get me down. @@2goldengirl - Right? I thought lap swimming was at least equal to jogging if not running in intensity? So why does it matter if I'd rather build up to that.. it's a whole lot easier on my joints and doesn't hurt me. Clearly he doesn't know enough about Water exercise. He must think about water aerobics for senior ladies with an instructor that babies them or something. @@Babbs - you made me LOL for the first time all day. No kidding his bedside manner stinks for sure! I will be so happy to just.. not see him anymore.. every experience (talking) that I've had with him is negative..
