Hello! Just wanted to say that your stomach nerves are still healing from a major trauma, so while you may not feel it, I can almost certainly guarantee that you are actually full. I had a similar feeling in the beginning and I now rarely feel hungry and can tell right away when it's time to stop. Hope this helps.

Just wanted to chime in here real quick. I had the same experience felt like I was starving and I got very discouraged and hated reading the posts about people saying I can barely eat this or that. Things have changed now. I don't feel like I am starving anymore and I think I am eating less than I was before (I KNOW I am). Give it some time and trust the process!!

some great questions on this post!
I am interested to see what people say about the sipping per hour or whatever. that is one of my questions too!
I definitely don't feel hunger but lots of times when I do eat or drink my stomach kind of has an uncomfortable digesting process. It gurgles everywhere. It might be thought of as hunger pains ...? It's not for me but maybe this is what you're feeling?
I don't measure (for ex: 4 oz) - I just put what looks like 2-3 tablespoons of food in a tiny dish and just really listen to my body and pay attention. most times I don't eat everything in that tiny bowl. Lots of times I just get turned off by what I'm eating because it takes so long to eat, or I may have gotten full. Now I say that because if that feeling is feeling full, it is way different then the old feeling full. Now it feels kind of like a whole body blah feeling. Don't know if this is my new "feeling full" or what but it's weird!
anyways hope all goes well with you and let's DO THIS

Totally normal and nothing to be ashamed about, but like @@lauraellen80 did, when I ate my favorite things, I ate them slowly and tried to be really aware of why I loved these foods so much and to really make myself understand that some of these foods will not really even be foods I can eat again after surgery. Fortunately for me, a lot of my comfort foods aren't actually that bad for me. My "last meal" was grilled chicken and shrimp, grilled onions, and redskin potatoes from Applebees. That's not that different from the kind of food I'll be able to eat once my body has recovered. I'm two weeks and two days post-op. Congratulations on your approval! It's a really exciting time.

Fullsteamahead got a reaction from 395Ron in Surgery is tomorrow (gastric bypass)!
    Hi everyone!
Thanks so. Yah for the well wishes. I am writing this from my hospital bed as we speak! I experienced a complication with my surgery that required me to visit the OR twice! After the initial bypass, I could not stop spitting up blood. My surgeon felt that the volume of blood was enough to warrant another visit the the OR. During the 2nd visit, they were able to reinforce the connection between my intestine and my pouch. To say that I was terrified during this ordeal would be an understatement things.
Luckily for me, the 2nd surgery resolved the issue I was experiencing. The downside is that my discharge date has been pushed ahead to Saturday (it was originally Friday). I realize that I am in good hands and am being monitored very closely.
Pain wise things haven't been that bad. I am on Dilotin and have access to a med button which administers the drug at timed intervals. Having had 3 cesarean sections, the pain this time around actually mirrors that of my c-sections. It's not unbearable pain but it is tolerable in my opinion.
Please let me know if there are questions you have about my experience. Reading the Guide to Bypass" was actually very helpful, especially the bits on what to bring to the hospital. For me, Chapstick has been essential as well as a good book (I am not a big TV watcher).

So the big day is tomorrow! I am excited and nervous at the same time. The former because I know how much my life will change as a result and the latter because I'm afraid of being put under!
I have to go to the hospital at 6:30am and the actual procedure will start at 8:30am. I should be making preparations and getting things ready but I am literally lounging in my bed as I type this (hey, those other things can wait right?) I decided to take 2 weeks off of work but am able to take more time if needed. I have some friends that will alternate sleeping over the first week to make sure I am okay. My mom is an RN and my sister is an NP and they both live next door to me (literally) so I'll have support during my recovery.
I started this journey in May and it is so incredible to think that my day is finally here! Will keep you all posted!

Fullsteamahead reacted to PinkPolkadot619 in Surgeon trying to convince me to do the sleeve instead of RNY
My doctor told me I was a good candidate for both. I know some surgeons view RNY as more drastic, but in my experience and I have a FB group with over 200 members, most sleevers struggle to get to goal weight. Now I am no expert and this is just from the small group of people I have contact with. But for me during my research I knew RNY had a better percentage of weight loss and I had struggled so many times that I wanted the best opportunity to make it to my goal! I have NO regrets at all.
Good luck, and know this is your body and with what info you have provided, I think the choice should be yours.
