  1. Hello, I was curious if some of you are required by insurance to do both monthly Supervised Diet visits with your Primary Dr or Surgeon on top of your NUT visits?
  2. Hi Everyone, I'm new to this to & could also use support. I told a few people of my WLS intentions & got mixed responses. Luckily the few who their opinion would matter to me are supportive. I won't be mentioning it to any more friends/family members. I do feel a bit guilty for not telling my parents, but I don't need my mom to be stressed & then me have to absorb her stress. Best of luck & success to all of you. ????
  3. No 6 month wait, good for you!???? I'm a little more half way through my 6 month wait & I am so mentally ready for this. I can't wait. Best of luck to you.
  4. I also have a 6 month wait where in that time I need 6 nutrition visits. My Dr's office plans to submit to my insurance co immediately following my last nutrition visit. He has scheduled me with a tentative surgery date 14 days later.
  5. Definitely interesting how pre op diets vary. Here is what I was given.
  6. Jewels, Good to hear your feeling better.
  7. Casper808, I am scheduled for Dec 14. I just need insurance to cooperate ????
  8. Jessicashae33, I did speak with my surgeon yesterday & he seems to think it will be fine. I guess I'm just nervous about the unknown. I will do everything that I need to do during recovery, to make sure I'm healed. I think the idea of being out to sea & no hospital available adds to my nerves. Thanks for your thoughts. ????
  9. The 6 months will pass by quickly. I also have a 6 month wait period. I'm half way through it now. ????
  10. Hello, I have a cruise scheduled for late January. I had this booked & paid for prior to starting this journey. I have a 12/14 surgery date (not approved yet) I have a 6 month nutrition requirement. My question is, Have any of you traveled 5-6 weeks after surgery?
  11. Thank you all who have contributed to this post. You all inspire me!
  12. I think that feeling of not waking up from surgery, crosses ever bodies mind prior to surgery. I know it did for me in 2010 when I had major surgery & I currently have the thought in the back of my head now with this upcoming surgery.
  13. Years ago I know that some Dr's did Endoscopies without sedation. Haven't heard of it done this way in quite awhile. The Dr used to spray a numbing spray to the back of the throat to block the gag reflex and when ready would ask the patient to swallow while feeding the camera in. I am very happy that I didn't have to do it this way. If your uncomfortable with this ask to be sedated.
  14. Good luck to you & here's hoping for an early spot on the schedule tomorrow.
  15. Hey PurpleGirl, Glad to hear you are doing well.
  16. Wow, it slipped through her mind, ugh. I feel your frustration. I can't even get my insurance company to approve a Echocardiogram Stress test that's scheduled for tomorrow. Makes me wonder how I'll ever be approved for a surgical procedure when this test won't even get approved. ????
  17. Congrats, your day is finally here. Best wishes
  18. I will be calling Health Republic of NY tomorrow, my insurance carrier. I know I need 6 months of a supervised diet but I want to be sure who they want supervising, PCP or Surgeon?
  19. Congrats! I to have thought about it for years & finally have put my decision into action. I'm happy I took that first step & now I'm on my way.
  20. The Dr that did my psych evaluation told me at the end of the session that "all was good" & she would forward report to my surgeon.
  21. Thank you everyone, these were all great responses. I know I will use many of them.
  22. Congrats!! That will be here before you know it.
  23. I had my psych evaluation this past Friday. Like you I was a little nervous as to how the visit would go. Honestly it was fine, the Dr I had was wonderful. She asked a few questions about my adult life, childhood, marital relationship. Just general questions to see if I was happy or had any concerns I might need help with. Once that was done we went on to my eating habits. It was all good. She explained some of the changes I might encounter socially after the procedure & possible ways I might be able to deal with those situations. Don't stress over your psych visit. Go in and be honest, it will be ok. ????
  24. I began this journey in July. So far I have gone to an informative seminar, 2 support group meetings & have consulted with my surgeon. I have since been cleared by my pulmonary Dr for surgery, consulted with my Gastro Dr and have had an upper GI exray, Tuesday I have my Endoscopy & H Pylori test. Consulted with Cardiologist and am scheduled for stress test & echo on the 13th and lastly I had my psych evaluation. My goodness July was a very busy month. I have Health Republic insurance of NY and the require 6 months of a supervised diet & nutrition counseling.
