I got the call this morning. Now I'm waiting to hear from the surgeon.

My name is Tim and I just discovered this web site. I had gastric sleeve surgery with Dr. Teresa LaMasters in West Des Moines, IA back on December 30, 2014. I have had serious weight problems most of my life with the exception of my time in the military where I just wasn't able to eat whatever I wanted. My issue was definitely Portion Control and now just the thought of how much I would once eat seems like an incredible amount of food. I am just over 6 months post-op now and I have lost 83 pounds from my heaviest weight. I started at 315 and dropped to 311 day of surgery; I am now 232. I had several other medical conditions related to weight including high blood pressure, high cholesterol/triglycerides, obstructive sleep apnea and atrial fibrillation. I'm happy to say I no longer have blood pressure or cholesterol problems and the sleep apnea seems to have gone away as well so three of the four related problems are gone. I look forward to hearing from others and offering up any advice I am able to give.

Keep moving, waking, sipping, walking, moving, sipping, walking and eventually it will come out one way or the other. I found after sips of Water, I would either burp or pass wind but only if I was sipping in between walking without sitting down. It's a case of finding out what works for you, so try everything. I am at day 5 and at home but still bloated.
In the big scheme of things it's not here for long.

My surgery time was changed to 10:00 AM, I'm in the hospital and about to embark on this new journey that will give me a second chance at life. Thank you all for your support, I'll check in with ya'll later.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and I love what I see already. My surgery is set for 7 am tomorrow so I'll keep you updated on my progress.

I really didn't tell that many people. Told my hubby and my sister and a couple of girls at work. We used to do the diff diets together and fail each time.one was pretty awesome about it but the other one gave me a lecture. How i didn't need it and can do it by myself. She had just started another liquid diet and asked me to join her. Well that failed 3 days later Bec we couldn't keep up. Any way, i went back to work after being out for a month after surgery and 20lbs down. Looked so good. Felt even better. And every one wanted to know what i was doing. My response was diet and exercising 5 days a week.which i really do. Am so happy at this point that i really think I'll tell anyone who really wants to know..

12 pounds to go until I reach the goal I have been longing for...for YEARS!! I am so proud of my decision to have surgery!! I couldn't have gotten to this place without it!! My quality of life is so much better. No more high blood pressure or joint issues and I have to mention my new hot steamy love life with my long time hubby for 23 years!!! There are people I've told and people I have not! I haven't had any negative feed back... to my face anyway....lol... very encouraging journey thus far! At this point I don't care anyway..I've lost 90 pounds and I feel amazing!!!

I had my surgery on the 29th as well and today is my 3rd day post op and I can tell you that I feel better every day that goes on. I wish you the best.

Thanks guys! Feeling better. Everyday is improvement. Only 4:30am but just so much time you can stay in bed without going stir crazy, so went walking. Hope my doctor gets here no later than 9 am and releases me, so I can detach myself from IV, drain, and pain pump.
It was tough, but absolutely no regrets. Ready to start my new healthy life! ????

Today is FINALLY my day. July 29, 2015, at high noon, I'm having my surgery!
Wow, what a head rush and surreal experience, all wrapped into one. It took an entire year, but it has definitely been the most life changing journey I've ever embarked upon. I will never forget the struggle that brought me here, the friends I've made, or the health and happiness I hope to achieve.
I chose my screen name, The Candidate, because in all my research the most reoccurring phrase was "You might be a candidate for weight loss surgery if..." Not sure what to identify myself with after surgery. Is "The Post Op" taken? ????

I'm scheduled for 7th Aug! I'm so excited but hate telling people I'm having my surgery. Everyone is so negative about it, most people believe I don't need it and I'm too young. I'm 21, 244lbs and 5ft7 and self paid. It's so hard to help others understand how I feel about myself when nobody wants to listen, has anyone else been in this boat? I'm on jelly and clear Soup diet and my 1st day has gone great ????x

i completely understand!!! Everyone told me to get up and moving and the weight would come off, but it came back on just as easy. I had me surgery on June 15, and altogether I have lost 46 lbs and it feel so much easier to get moving and going. I have so much energy!!! My house is always clean(which is amazing as I run a home daycare) and I also walk about 3-4 miles a day. Before I could walk to the mailbox and be winded! So, take this step and be proud of your self for bettering you and take this time to focus on you and what your "new" you will be????????

Gosh you have done so well! Well done! ????I only hope I feel the way you do afterwards! Everyone says don't lose your 'sparkle' and I know in myself I won't but all you want is that support around you which I can't find! Thank you for your reply!

I don't know why but when I read posts like this, I feel your excitement and remember the excitement I felt right after my surgery. The excitement will die down a bit and then every once in a while, it comes back full force. Like when you hit One-derland or when you get into regular sized jeans, etc.
Best of luck to you, you are starting a life changing journey.

Glad to hear all went well! Hang tough these next few days/weeks. There will be some pretty low lows, but it will be worth it in the end!

I'm about to leave the hospital and go home. Before my 2 weeks liquid diet, I was 240 lbs, yesterday I weighed in at 229 lbs before surgery so I'll definitely keep you guys posted on my progress as I go along.
