    Valentines challenge/Goal

Okay, I'm in. I want to be up to 45 minutes on the treadmill walk/running by February 14th and hope to be down 15 pounds by then. Really wanted to write 20 pounds, but my scale is fluctuating to much right now and want to be realistic.

A Little Help for my Dec LBT friends

Thanks guys. This makes me feel so much better. Let's continue to support each other through this crazy ^** time. Even my surgeon said it was SOO normal. I still don't like it.

    OOH! A new forum!

My name is Mary Faith and I was banded on the 20th of Dec. I am doing pretty good. I am trying hard to make it through the couple of weeks before my first fill. I have two kids and am married to very understanding man, who is trying to diet himself a little bit too for the first time ever.
  4. Those are great tips. Thanks so much:smile:

Well, I Lost my band last week

My heart is breaking for you. What a trauma. Take some time to heal and then make your decision. I am sure you would get the best care possible after this debacle. Good luck.

    Really down and depressed

What a good point Steve made. But also consider that your family either just doesn't understand or they are scared. Some people who don't have a weight problem have said to me diet and exercise. I look at them think WTF do you think I have spent my life doing???? Also, initially my children were worried and scared of the unknown; i.e. risks, changes in their life, etc. A little education may help your family understand. Take care and good luck. You won't regret it.

  8. Hi there. My name is Mary Faith and I was banded on the 20th of December in Ohio by Dr. Fagelman. Painwise, I am doing great. I have lost a total of 25 pounds since the preop diet. I did better on the preop diet than I have on since surgery. I am in the funky up/down phase with my weight. I am so thankful to this board though because I would be going crazy without. I am trying so hard to continue with my food changes. Just yesterday I noticed I could eat a little more than I had been since surgery. Still not a lot but definitely a change. Good luck to all of us.

    Unrealistic Ideals

Thanks for all the posts. I feel much better knowing that I am not alone with these goofy thoughts. Take care and let's keep communicating about it because it sure helped me.

    Love My Band!!

I thought I was a major trooper for going home several hours after surgery and really feeling grand. Then I went to support group last night and there was a woman who had surgery New Year's Eve and "hosted" a party that night. She felt so good they just invited everyone over. So much for me being such a trooper, huh.
  11. I have to say that what the original post said had some validity in the sense that this doesn't just solve the eating problem. I have often wondered what would happen when I reached goal and had trouble with my band and had to remove it. I had read somewhere that they encourage you to have it placed back. I was initially surprised by that, but the comments were that people tend to fall off the wagon with out the band in place, which goes with the OP theory. I think it is good information even if it is just one person't opinion.

    What is your goal?

I want to lose 10 pounds from by Jan 26th. I have a friend getting married and I really want that. However, I hit the wall recently. So wish me luck. My next goal is from the 26th to Memorial Day is 30 pounds. I am going to a conference and would really like to be down. :help:

    Back to Reality

Just wanted to say good luck. This was the day for me that I got really down. I wanted to eat something, anything. I was tired, but not tired enough to stay home and feel bad, but tired. It does all get better. I had my surgery on the 20th. Keep your head up.

    Lots to lose

Juli- Please share with us how you have been succesful. I am 3 weeks out and needing a frame of reference to put myself in. I would love to hear your story. Thanks
  15. I keep reading this, and think I know, but I am not sure. Thanks in advance.
  16. Wow, I must be one of the lucky ones. I definitely am a wimp when it comes to pain. I have a known low tolerance for it. But I didn't find this surgery painful at all. I came home from surgery the day of. Spent most of the day in my recliner recieving help (ha!) from my husband. He slept on the sofa. The second day, I was slow but up and around and so happy to take a shower. After that, things have been dandy. I have had gas, but let it out. The only true pain I have had was when I ate too much cottage cheese. I couldn't eat the rest of the day. I was stuffed. That was it. Good luck.Think positively!

I just want to vent frustrations

I so understand about the six month waiting period. When I found out that I had to have six months of documented dr visits, I went off on the nurse because I felt they could have told me that earlier. I do have to say though that I think it was benefecial for me to wait. My mind was in the right place. I was very confident and knowledgeable by the time of my surgery. So, my wish for you is to not get discouraged but to spend this time making certain that is what you want to do and be comfortable with the decision. Good luck.

    Hello I'm a newbie

HI- Debbie- I just had surgery on the 20th of December, and everything went well. Good luck to you. My personal tidbit of help is to lose as much as you can before the surgery. They say that there will be less chance of a gas pains the less they have to blow air in to see. When you lose weight prior it decreases the amount of fat around your liver. I had no gas pains and lost 12 pounds the two weeks prior. I don't know if that is why, but just in case. Good luck to you. Brickgirl
  19. Hey there. Brickgirl here. Banded on 12/20/07. All went really well. I have been pleasantly surprised by how fast I bounced back. Since the preop diet I have lost 22.5 pounds. Christmas was okay. I felt like eating nothing. Now, I am finding my mind is hungry way before my body. I definitely have to learn to control that. So tonight, New Year's Eve, will be trickier, because I feel better. I have a plan, but still am a little concerned I will nibble. I found this board after the surgery, which I think was a good thing. I don't think reading all the postings that I would have gone through with it. I would encourage people with positive results to post also. I would have hated to be too scared for surgery. Beyond that, I have gotten so much from this site. Love it!!
  20. I agree 100% with all the above. I want to be smaller than all my brothers and brothers-in-laws. I want to not have to worry that everyone is watching every bite I eat. I want to want to climb the steps at work instead of the elevator. I want to not sweat after climbing said steps I want my dad to say how pretty I look I want the parents I meet at the kids school to like me from the start.... not the year or so to get past the rest of the package. I want to dance with my daughter and show her some great moves I want to hug someone without worrying if they are grossed out by my fat.
