  1. @@Margie122, thats amazing that you lost 39lbs pre-surgery --and a total of 80lbs! Thanks for the advice on eating Protein first and excersize, while I try to eat my Proteins first, thats not always the case. As for excersize, I am only walking around to run errands and such, have not yet joined a gym but plan to do so in a few weeks.

Thanks for your response! And much continued success to you on your weight loss and health!

  2. Hello to all, and congratulations on your weight loss!

I was sleeved back on August 3rd, and since then have lost 50 lbs post-surgery, 58lbs since starting this journey in April of this year. I am eating fairly well and healthy, take all required Vitamins. I am happy about the weight loss but I am also going through rapid and noticeable Hair loss. I thought the Biotin 10,000 mcg/daily tabs would help but they haven't been helping me much. I havent been to the gym in order to maximize weight loss but that is on my list of goals for the next few weeks.

Thanks for reading and for your responses! Much continueed success to you all on your weight loss journey.

    Warm regards,

    Luckystar

  3. @, thank you for responding! Thanks for the laugh, I needed that...you are right weighing less is far better than worrying about Hair loss. I see you have loss a great amount of weight, would you say it is attributed to your daily dietary intake and excersize? I seem to be at a bit of a stall and was wondering what I am doing wrong, since I imagined, I too, would have lost much more weight. To date Ilve lost 50lbs since surgery and 58lbs since starting on my journey. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  4. Hello to all,

I was sleeved back in August and since then have lost nearly 50 lbs. I am eating fairly well and healthy, take all required Vitamins and am going through rapid and noticeable Hair loss. I thought the Biotin 10,000 mcg/daily tabs would help but they haven't been helping me much.

Any thoughts and advice for those of you who may have gone through the same experience...any hope of stopping the hair loss or getting my hair to its normal state?

Thanks for reading this and for your responses!

    Warm regards,

  5. @@cbruce125 you will lose more weight, dont worry. I have had stalls since my surgery on 8/3. Then in the last two days lost 4 pounds, so suddenly...I am not at a gym , I only take neighborhood walks and hope to join a gym soon, but for the time being I am just eating at the regular texture stage and meauring all my meals. Not all of which consists of diet food but definitely all in moderation.

  6. I had my sleeve done on 8/3 also. Doing good so far, thought I might have lost more weight by now, but I will take what I am given. Pre-op had lost 15 pounds, post op have lost 24 pounds. So all together its been a weight loss of 39 pounds since May, and since April: 47 pounds, since back then I was 273 and now I am at 226. Eating regular textured foods now, but ofcourse measured, cannot have more than 4oz of food at any one time; if I do over do it I end up having to throw up some. Just eating in moderation but worried about overall Protein intake since it is not at 60-80g daily yet. Will continue to take Protein Shakes for this lack of intake. Also, not taking in 64oz of Fluid, I find this hard to do since plain Water makes me somewhat nauseous. But overall, doing ok. I thank you for reading and thank you in advance for any responses to this post.

  7. @Violet S. hang in there. Maybe you are throwing up frequently because you are consuming foods your new pouch is just not ready for. chicken for one, can be very heavy on the new stomach. This is why we are encouraged to eat tender thigh meat and not the white breast meat we may have learned to love so much. I find I am also frequently hungry and am not sure why since I eat according to plan on scheduled times with Snacks in between (applesauce, yogurt). Im also not sure if the hunger means that the new pouch is stretching out, so caution when serving portions. Oh and yes, there are weight stalls, I believe this is perfectly normal for those who are eating regularly around the clock and not relying solely on liquids and Protein shakes as their only meals. Hang in there it gets easier as time passes, I too was miserable for a few weeks -- but since surgery Aug 3, I seem to be healing slowly and feeling better.

Good luck with your weight loss and with this process in general.

  8. @KnowUrWorth I understand where you are coming from. Other than my mom and my BF no one knows and I intend on keeping it that way. There is no real reason to have to tell others. Of course there are times when we may feel that telling others will only help them, but at the moment we are here in this situation to care for ourselves and to get our lives on the right course. It seems telling others would be a relative and very selective process.

  9. My surgery is scheduled August 25th, and I'm so nervous and very anxious. I feel like crying and starting to have a change of heart. My doctor gave me a nerve pill but I still feel horrified. Has anyone else felt like this?

@, your feelings of apprehension are normal. I felt this way right before my surgery and actually right until I was in the operating room waiting for my turn to come up. Its now been 9 days out of surgery and although I have a long way to heal, I feel confident this was the best choice for me and I cant wait until all the weight is lost and my life changes for the best.

  10. I'm also researching the single incision surgery and am hopeful someone more knowledgeable about it could answer a few questions.

Does anyone know if it significantly improves the recovery process?

Is the main reason for having it to avoid scars and to quicken recovery?

Are there any additional risks to it?

And good luck to Lucky Star! I hope your surgery goes well.

@@Clementine Sky, Yes the main reason is to avoid scars and quicken recovery process. There is a video by my surgeon, Julio Teixeira on the surgery here:

Best of luck in your research!

  11. @@flipper72 & @@Tazwella, I was told to bring chapstick as mentioned above by Tazwella -- and Gas-X (the strips or chewable kind) to remove any gas discomfort. The nurses at the hospital called me and told me to bring toiletries as they supposedly have everything else such as gowns and slippers. Therefore I have packed deoderant, soap, toothpaste, lotion, Gas-X, chapstick, several clean underwear, magazines (and mp3 player for entertainment) and my daliy prescribed medications. Best of luck to all on the day of your surgery and best wishes for a quick recovery.
