  1. Hi all I noticed there are several people being sleeved on the 1st. Introduce yourselves and let's motivate each other and keep in touch! I'll go first. I'm 5'5" HW 242 CW 232 GW 160. I am extremely nervous about the procedure, but I am also excited.
  2. Hi everyone! I miss chatting with you guys. Congratulations on your victories. I am inspired to do more by just reading your journeys. Although it's not good to compare, I still feel like it's more I can be doing. I am down 34lbs and my current weight is 209. I try to stay away from the scale some weeks because it's no fun when I hit a stall and the scale is dormant. Just wondering, has any of your doctors or nutritionist mentioned approximately how long it usually takes to reach your goal? I know it's a slow process and I don't plan to stop any time soon, but I would like to know if I'm on target at least.
  3. Hi all, I'm new here. I need help with getting approved through my insurance. I have contacted a few clinics with seminar dates weeks away. I have united healthcare and my bmi is 38, they require a 40 bmi without any other complications. My BP is usually over 140/90 which is one of the requirements with a bmi under 40. My concern is since I haven't been diagnosed with Hypertension in the past that I won't get approved. Do anyone have any experience with Dr's that work to get you approved?
  4. Hi everyone, I am right there with you guys. I've lost 27 lbs since pre-op and 17 lbs since surgery. I feel much more normal now. I'm learning my new stomach more and more. Still a little hesitant to try certain foods. I kinda like to stick to what I know lol. I have really been eating avocado. They are my fav right now. What are some things you guys have been experimenting with? I definitely need more food choices:)
  5. Yikes! I would have freaked out to see blood. I have been looking for information about hiatal hernias. I had one repaired when I was sleeved. Well last night I had gas, I took the gas x pills as the strips doesn't seem to work anymore. Well I sipped some water with the pills apparently I didn't sip enough because I fell asleep. I woke up about 2 hours later with esophageal pain. I drank more water and I felt the pills going down. Well today my esophagus is still hurting. I called my surgeon's office and they said to drink cold liquids today and if it's not better in 2 days they'll do an exam on it. Has this happened to anyone? I also have not been taking my PPIs, which may have something to do with it.
  6. Oh that sounds delicious. I can't start soft foods until 2/29. I think they want me to master these other stages before since I haven't been getting my pureed foods down well.
  7. Has anyone experienced left shoulder pain while eating? I went to the doctor for my 2 week checkup today. I explained to him that my left shoulder hurts sometimes during the day. It's not excruciating, it feels like gas... just not sure. I am now in the pureed stage, I feel fine otherwise. Vitals are all normal. Just don't understand how the gas pains could still be the culprit.
  8. That's exactly what's happening to me. Thanks I can't wait for this stage to pass.
  9. I have been freed to introduce pureed foods. I just can't come to terms to put my meat in a blender. What are you guys doing for the pureed stage. Lol
  10. Thanks I'm going to research that...

    Scared

I was sleeved on 2/1 and I was just like you. I talked to the anesthesiologist a lot before surgery. I asked him about his experience and I informed him of my reservations in regards to being put to sleep. He assured me I'd be fine and he also gave me something to relax. It was called Versed and it helped. It seemed like the surgery happened so fast. All I remember is getting on the OR table and waking up to my husband in my room. That was my 1st time being put to sleep and I must say it was a great experience. You'll be fine.
  12. Thanks, at a time where leaks are prevalent, it's scary to think about.
  13. Do anyone know if we can take pepto bismol after gastric sleeve. I'm like 12 days out.
  14. Hey Arenea! What syntrax are you taking? I have the plain and it is meh too but I think Adina might've had the chocolate truffle and she swears by it. Maybe try that? I have the Caribbean Cooler, it smells great as a powder, but when I mix it with water I can't stand it. It's just weird. So today I bought the Campbell's soup on the go chicken noodle flavor and that worked. I didn't eat the little noodles or carrots although they were very soft, but I did drink the broth. I saw they have chicken tortilla in the drinkable on the go soups too. I saw someone asking, but I'm sure it's not as good as homemade.
  15. Hi guys! I have not been able to meet any of my goals really... the only positive I'm seeing is my weight loss... I have not been able to get any protein down despite my efforts to buy the Syntrax Nectar. I don't know if it's the texture or flavor that is bothering me the most. As far as water, I'm still trying. I know it's not healthy, but this diet comes with much discipline. I notice that I do much better when I'm at work. I feel I'm a lot more structured. As stated earlier, I'll start over tomorrow.
  16. Yes we definitely can relate. I so hate that. But I will do like you all and keep calm and stop thinking about it so much:)
  17. I find myself obsessing about leaks, is it just me? I mean I can't wait to get further enough along to where I won't worry so much.
  18. That's awesome! So glad you guys are doing great
  19. Has anyone returned to work yet? Just curious, I've been back since Friday and tonight is my last night until next weekend. But I feel like going back to work soon was helpful for my recovery. I never told my job about the surgery, neither did I tell my doctor about my plans to return. I feel great now, I felt like the bed and recliner was keeping me "in pain"...
  20. Okay that's good to know.
  21. Have you guys seen these? They have 40g of protein in them! Yikes!!
  22. That's weird. I would be confused to because I thought all that was cut out. Is it like real true hunger? Or could it be thirst? I haven't felt a shred of hunger. At all. Are you getting in all your fluids? Hubby bought me the same yesterday. Can you let me know how it ends up working for you and what you use it in? Just curious... I sure will.
  23. Ok I just bought this stuff to see if I can get some protein in. I haven't had protein for almost 2 days. I have been able to do better with my water intake. I just can't wait until we can have more options, but for now I guess this will suffice.
  24. I notice the more I move around, or stretch or reach that one invicision hurt me as well. It's a way to say hey its time to sit down. Lol
  25. If you had a hiatal hernia, that's what it is. You have to take that hyoscyamine or whatever it's called three times daily, and take smaller sips. For me, it feels like Fluid gets stuck in a not and that's where it hurts, then it kind of funnels through. Very annoying. Mind started on day 3 when I was discharged - I was fine at the hospital because the nurses were pushing my drugs on a regular basis so I was never without it. I started slipping on taking them in time which is when I started to notice it. If you didn't have a hiatal hernia repair than I have no idea. Maybe you need to take smaller sips? I hope you figure it out.*knot Yes I had this problem too. It did go away. I also had a hernia repair. That pain didn't start until I left the hospital.
