@ I saw the Dietician yesterday and the Md yesterday. He sent me for my EKG, all clear and I have my mammogram tomorrow. He said from previous bloodwork he noticed that I am pre diabetic as well. I am shocked as I was never told this. He wants a couple more blood tests, for my b12 and the acid in my stomach. The MD did ask if they could submit it to insurance now and she said she was going to try. I only have the expertise specialist left to meet but that's not until October. Meant to read exercise specialist. Lol

Well saw the NUT today, all good, saw the MD again and he ordered an EKG, which I did right downstairs and all good, have to have a mammo which is Friday morning. Md called me a little bit ago and said he pulled my bloodwork from another ms and while he only has a couple things to test for, acid in my stomach and b12 plus a urine test, he said it shows I am pre diabetic!! I was pissed that the dr who took this lab work for me several months ago never told me that!

I am so sorry, that is just awful. You can't be grandfathered in as it was when you started?

That's great! I'm at the stage of waiting to see the Nutritionist on Weds and then to see if insurance will approve. From what I hear, that's the worrisome part. I sure I can be on the losers bench as well as I am tired of being miserable.

Hi I too have BCBS IL with no supervised weight loss requirements. I have been thru a few appts already, met the MD, met with the surgeon, and had my Psych Eval. I have my NUT appt Weds, but am starting to get nervous about approvals after reading some horror stories. I have a BMI of a 36.2, with high blood pressure. I am on protonix for heartburn and they spoke of scoping me. If the requirements from the insurance company state BMI 35 with 1 comorbidity and med records should I worry about denial?

I'm from NWI if anyone else is close by, message me! I would love to have a buddy to compare stories/journeys with. Thanks and good luck to all!

@Nikikins...thank you for sharing your story. When you say you have 2 weeks ... Is that to surgery? I saw my surgeon yesterday and he's writing the letter to my insurance company but the insurance coordinator said it wouldn't be sent yet. I don't understand the wait if I don't have one with my insurance company.

Good luck and this is great news!!! I too have BCBS of Illinois and while they haven't submitted yet, they will be next month. My plan doesn't require a supervised weight loss prior to surgery so I am hoping I am as lucky as all of you and get approved fast! ????

Oh and then once insurance approves it, I have to go for a 4 hour class as well. My program thru my surgeon is Healthy For Life and I get lifetime nutrition visits and lifetime exercise specialist.

Hi all! I had my first surgeon visit today and while his assistant recommended the sleeve for me, she said it was my choice. The surgeon came in and asked what I had decided and told him GB and he said ok. He said he will be writing the letter to my insurance company today; however, the insurance coordinator said she cannot submit until next month because if so many visits they require to be done. I don't quite understand if my insurance doesn't have a waiting time of non surgical weight loss as long as all documentation is there. I have attended first seminar, met with the MD once, had my Psych Eval, met with the surgeon so far. Next week I see the NUT for the first time as well as the MD and then the MD again next month. October I have to wait and see the exercise specialist 10/22. They are saying probably the end of Octoberish for surgery but will submit for approval sometime in September. I don't understand why the wait?

I meet with my surgeon for the first time this Thursday - can anyone tell me what to expect? I've already had my Psych Eval and my appt with the NUT is next week. All I will have left is the exercise specialist which is Sept 17th. Not sure what happens from here as my insurance does not require a non surgical weight loss monitoring before surgery. Anyone?

Oh my, I wasn't nervous before, but think I may be now. Lol. My Psych appt is this morning! I already stopped by his office the other day and filled out the paperwork ahead of time and answered the 175 question test then. Today we "meet". Wish me luck please ????

We are all in your corner and I myself, can explain how nervous I am. Just reading posts from others going in for surgery, I can feel my anxiety level and heart rate start to double. Sooo nervous. I hate being a worrier, inherited that honestly from my mother, but I want this surgery like no other and am ready to adjust and do what is told of me - I can totally commit. I worry of the surgery in itself...scary.

@@GoHawksTX I too have that crappy high deductible insurance! $5,000 deductible first before they pay 80%. I've satisfied a great deal of it so far, but still have plenty to fork up. This doesn't have to be satisfied in hoping before surgery!

I too bought the book and it should arrive today. Looking forward to reading it and learning all I can as I have my surgeon appt August 20th and should be ready with questions. Thank you for the recommendation ????

@Kaye221 - maybe ask how tall you are? I too am 237 at 5'8" and am going for the bypass but meet with surgeon on the 20th. Md recommended bypass because of my heartburn too. They want me to have a scope first too. I was curious how much you have lost since the bypass recently. Thanks much and hope you are healing well ????
