I too received the call at work and ran out of the building and whispered to my insurance rep that I loved her and was forever indebted ????...we grew close and I actually got her daughter a job with my company. Lol

@dgmohr - your stories and bits of advice are so positive and uplifting! I just love to see what you write. Congrats on 121#!! That is amazing! Please do share how you did it and at what level/timeframe from surgery. For those of us going into surgery soon, what should we expect as far as weight loss (knowing everyone can be different), but it's also frightening to read how many are not losing much. Any insight you can share and when we can start exercising, how much to expect to lose would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance ❤️

Woot! Woot! @@cassie32104 !!! This is great news! So you've got the 2 weeks of liquid diet too, huh? I hear it is rough. Mine is sugar free Popsicles, chicken broth, sugar free jello and the meal replacements I have to go and pick up. What do you get? Would love to know what area you're in too, if you don't mind my asking. I'm in NWI.

I have a BMI of 37 with high blood pressure and borderline diabetic. I was approved. Good luck!

@@pixie09 thank you very much. When you say you applied 2 months now, do you mean you have been waiting for approval for 2 months? What are they forgetting? Can you get a hold of your insurance and do a 3 way conference call to make sure you are all on the same page? I hope for the best for you and that it's something minor that they can get on with your approval. Do all you can do to aid in getting this approved- you yourself know if you should be approved and don't give up!

Got the call today that my GB surgery is scheduled for Nov 3rd. My liquid diet starts October 20th as well as my 4 hour class. I have to have a chest X-ray and a H Pylori blood test. If I test positive for that I have to be put on antibiotics prior to surgery. Everything else is done until pre op on Oct 27th. So excited and anxious to be me, but nervous and I'm sure I will get scared once it's here as well. Thank you everyone for all the well wishes and congrats! I am truly grateful and hopeful and excited that I get this chance. I wish every one of you the same joy as you are awaiting your approval and look forward to continued posts on all of our progress! My 4 hour class will be October 20th as I cannot make the October 6th one as I have to be in Indianapolis for a meeting. After that class, I see the surgeon again for a surgery date. Hopeful that this will take place in November. I too will keep everyone posted and hope you all do the same. ????????????????

APPROVED APPROVED APPROVED!!!! I got the call this afternoon that insurance approved me for the GB RNY 3 days after resubmission!!! I am just bouncing with excitement and gratitude!! I am so thankful for being given this second chance!! I cannot believe it's happening to me ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????❤️???? thank you thank you so much for listening to me and sharing your stories and helping me relax and try to breathe-that it wasn't over yet. It's not - I just have been given a chance to live again. So thankful ????????????

OMG OMG OMG!! Not at all what I expected to hear this afternoon and this just made my weekend! It was just resubmitted on Tuesday and got approved for GB RNY today. I am sooo happy and excited and nervous wrapped into one. I think I'm still in shock!! Thank you all for listening to me and giving me your sound advice. I totally put it in the back of my mind and out of my head and I got the call! I got the call!!! Thank you thank you lord for giving me a chance to get "me" back ❤️????????????????????????????????

Thank you so much for this piece of advice...I will be sure to hang on to it @armywife79. Today, my insurance coordinator told me that she resubmitted it to my insurance yesterday and marked it urgent. She said it shouldn't take nearly as long as it did last time to hear back. I'm hoping to hear better news this time, she submitted with weight loss attempts documented from Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers from 2012 and 2014 along with the 26 pages she has of documentation. I have since denial been out on steroids from a horrible rash i got but have no idea other than chronic hives. Needless to say, I'm gaining a little more weight. Please say a prayer that the 2nd time around will bring a big fat approved. Thanks for the advice and for listening to my story. ????????

@Dar200....wow, what a great handout. We were prepared with an ammunition of information minus the denial information. I too am holding off and taking this piece of advice. For me to send an appeal would be a different story, but this "grumpy old woman" did suggest to the MD to resubmit. I've done all that is required of me, I now sit and wait, again. This last visit, my blood pressure was 130/93, while on blood pressure medication. The heart rate of 119 obviously expressed me being upset, but will still be submitted. I thank everyone for their sincere thoughts and wishes and advice, most of all. I will keep you posted and ask for a prayer that this does go in my favor. Thank you all ❤️

Oh, 1 more thing. I contacted the insurance to see if I could file a grievance, but they said they don't have that. Would you suggest I write a letter to them with my "opinion" to the Medical Review Board? Thank you.

@@dede0314 this is very reassuring and I very much appreciate your suggestion and positivity. I am not a quitter, and will do what it takes to get this approved. I am not ready to give up and will take the advice of all of you here. Thank you so much for the support.

I tried to call the insurance to file a grievance but said they don't have that. She said I can file an appeal but my ms is resubmitting it as requested. I told her I want to send in my opinion regarding the denial and was told to fax it along with records, which I don't have, but my MDs office does. I just feel like I've lost and never felt so disappointed in my life. I don't get a second chance to start my new life. ????

@@Ashlegal @ thank you so much for the support. I just left the MDs office to tell me that the P2P was with an older woman who is sticking with the denial. Even though I have very high BP, pre diabetic and meet all qualifications, they need more proof that I attempted weight loss. They told my MD she feels I can lose it on my own. She then told them to resubmit it. My MD said sometimes you get the older women who are just against GB and set in their ways. They are going to resubmit and send in my Jenny Craig info from last August thru October. Shows a high BMI. But what else can I do? They told me not to give up but I am so so upset right now. ????

@ .... I am so sorry to hear you are still in so much pain ????. Do you still have that drain in or did you even receive one? Just curious because a friend of mine did and she was in horrible pain because of that tube, it was pressing on her lung - as soon as they took it out - wa-la she was a world better. How is your eating going? Or should I say drinking...what are you able to keep down now? Thank you so much for the well wishes...I'm hoping all works out and is in my favor. I have had a road of diet battle all my life and know that I too deserve a chance to have a healthy and normal life. I will do whatever it takes to make this happen. Fingers crossed.
