  1. My surgery is this Monday and I also have had thoughts of should I do this. Is this the right thing for me to be doing. Then I have to get back into my POSITIVE THOUGHTS and remember I want to feel better, look better and live longer. Of course I'm scared of a lot of things going wrong during surgery but it's a chance we all have to take. I feel my surgeon is well qualified or I wouldn't be going forward. We have to beat those negative thoughts going on in our heads. There are too many people who have has great results. There's no turning back now. Monday is almost here for me. Hope you figure things out for yourself. Hopefully I will see you on the losers bench ????

  2. Surgery Monday at 9:00am.

So today the doctors office called saying I wasn't approved yet!! I'm like seriously!! They submitted it on the 29th October with no response... I called and talked to insurance representative. They put it in as priority and said I should know something this afternoon or Monday morning. Doctors office cancelled me on Monday. It wasn't until 4:55 I called to ask my doctors nurse a question when I was informed that insurance was on the phone with the approval. It's been a stressful day. Very angry at the insurance coordinator. This could have been avoided. I feel like I did all the work to make sure I kept my surgery date on Monday. I already had my time off from work approved and surgery is back on for Monday at 9:00 ????????

  3. I had mine today. All I had to do was drink this barium drink while standing and the doctor was taking video and pictures while it was going down. Then they lowered the table and I was on my back doing different turns on both sides then on my stomach while the nurse giving me a straw to sip the drink. Lasted about 15 minutes. Wasn't bad at all. It was easy and pretty neat watching the liquid going to my stomach. Nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before test.

  4. I, too, have a (very slight) stricture and my food choices were extremely limited for a long time. I still have "feeding" days and "non-feeding" days -- days where I can eat and days where more than a few nibbles makes me hurl.

I don't typically eat meals, I graze all day, but it works for me as I can rarely eat more than 1/3 cup or so at a time. I focus on high Protein, high fat and low carb. You do sound like you eat a lot of carby foods.

My foods include soft scrambled and deviled eggs, cheese, guacamole and hummus, cheese, beef Jerky and almonds, cheese, seafood or chicken salad, shrimp, cheese, crab cakes, refried Beans and taco meat with cheese, edamame, olives and mushrooms off the olive bar at our market, the filling of pot pies, salmon, cheese, tilapia, rare steak. cheese...

I can eat anything as long as it's softer, juicy or has a gravy or sauce. I don't eat a lot, my restriction is really tight, so I do eat a little here and there all day. I've been maintaining for a year and a half easily.

I rarely eat bread, Bagels, Cereal, rice, Pasta or potatoes as they all make me gag and vomit about 20-30 minutes after I eat. I can eat a bite or three, but that's my limit. I can eat crackers, popcorn, chips and the like, but I limit those foods because I know they are not healthy choices. Cereal and milk doesn't sit well, and I used to love cereal. Boo hisss!

When I eat out, I hit the appetizer menu because I can always find Protein friendly choices and a smaller portion size. I still end up taking food home.

    You can do this!!

Did you forget to mention CHEESE...LOL

  5. I've always been pretty regular with my BM. Actually more than regular than most people. As soon as I eat I pretty much have to use the restroom not diarrhea either just normal BM. So I am kinda worried how cutting half of my stomach out will change things. I will take whatever change there is in order to feel better. Can't wait to not have pain in my ankles, back and whole body!
