One year surgiversary!
waterwoman replied to Daisee68's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I am 2 days away from surgery and getting very nervous. Your encouragement is much appreciated! -
My surgeon usually puts a drain in for a revision, so I will have one. Not looking forward to it.

@@Lemm61 so sorry first day was rough. Thanks for being willing to share the whole experience. Hope you are feeling better and better.

My surgeon actually suggested it. It came while discussing the desire to eat popcorn at a movie.

@, thank you for your encouragement. I lost about 60 pounds with band and gained it all back. My surgeon actually said I would be a good candidate for the sleeve. When we discussed today, his concern was a small site of what might be Barrett's cells in the esophagus - so he didn't want to risk the sleeve related reflux. I want to give myself the best chance to be successful and he said that is definitely bypass, especially for a revision, so - bypass it is! -

I had mine removed on March 16 and will convert to RNY bypass on June 7. Just had final appt with surgeon today. Really looking forward to succeeding at weight loss - and a little afraid I might fail, again. -
Medicare approval/denial
waterwoman replied to Autumn Riley Arnold's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon told me that Medicare was not difficult - if you meet the criteria, they approve. Good luck to you! -
@Lemm61. Prayers and all good wishes with you!

@@Lemm61 Good idea on taking off before surgery. I am Tuesday, June 7, so taking off the Monday before, plus the weekend to make sure my house is ready and I am rested for surgery. Want to give myself every chance for success. No pre-op diet, so just eating healthily, with a few scattered food funerals. Good luck with your bedroom reno - post pics when you can.

I was trying to think of the last time I felt this nervous and excited at the same time. I realized it was every major lif event - graduation, wedding, childbirth. Being on the brink of a new life is both fearful and exciting. I'm so grateful for this chance at a new life. My goal is to feel comfortable in my body.

I am getting very nervous. I start my 2week liquid diet in a little over 24 hrs, and am worried about my resolve there. How are you doing? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App I'm one of the lucky ones - my surgeon doesn't require pre-op diet. Trying to keep busy to distract myself from the fact that we are just 2 weeks away. I'm both nervous and excited. Good luck to all of us!

@@AmysShrinking and @Anilyn I am 64 and have struggled with depression all my life. I'm currently very stable on Cymbalta. My research shows that I should be OK continuing with Cymbalta after surgery - but until I live it, it's hard to believe. Keeping fingers crossed for all of us

@@Twuzzy, you and I have the 7th! Are you starting to get nervous?

Congratulations on your courage and willingness to take care of yourself!

@@Shaunie - My insurance took about 2 weeks to respond and they initially covered the bypass, but denied coverage for the band removal. My surgeon's office contacted them immediately and within 1 week they reversed their decision and covered the band removal as well. Basically, the person reviewing the claim made a mistake and they corrected it. Good look with your insurance approval and setting a date for surgery.

Has anyone kept their surgery private
waterwoman replied to kitkattulsa's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have only told my immediate family and none of them live nearby. They all love me the way I am. They think this is an extreme solution, but are willing to support me - for which I am grateful. . -
Have you tried Smooth Move Tea?

I'm June 7. Revising from lap-band which was removed on March 16. The process has taken well over a year. It feels a little surreal now that it's really getting close.

Eating after GBP ..... Concerns about failing
waterwoman replied to amartyn1's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm concerned as well. Had band removed 3/16. Conversion to bypass scheduled for June 7, I see the success of others, and that gives me hope. I know I wasn't losing with the band...and I know I wasn't losing before the band. All I can do is give it my best effort. -
I am June 7. Revising from band to bypass. Had the band out in March and looking forward to finally losing weight for good! Good luck to us!
-
My experience was similar - I was approved for the bypass, but denied for the band removal. My surgeon's office called the insurance company, submitted the paperwork a second time and I was approved. Keep at it! Best of luck to you.

Lap band revision
waterwoman replied to kstein01's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am a band to bypass revision and my surgeon requires the 3 month wait between removing the band and doing the bypass. -
Problems staying motivated during Pre op weight loss
waterwoman replied to Ashley Nd Michael Fisher's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I totally understand how hard it is to do something you are not motivated to do. A question that comes to mind - could this be self-sabotage? Now that your goal is becoming a reality, are you afraid of succeeding?
