Psych eval - is this normal?
Mine was similar. The 300 plus question test seemed rather odd. The questions were bizarre. It's been almost a week and I still know nothing about how it went.

Looking for preop friends :)
That appointment was hilarious! The man that did it was nice and the first part had some awesome information but the test..... Seriously questions like do you ever feel like someone else is controlling your mind? Do you feel like you are being followed? Are you fearful of the wind. I actually giggled a few times. I told my sister if I didn't pass that test then I must be a nut case. The lady who does the scheduling is out this week There was a test?! Hope you find out your dates a soon!Yes a test! It's was 320 questions at that!

Fits, fitbits, and Fitbit scales
I have a love/hate relationship with mine. No just kidding I do love it. The hate part comes from the fact that you can sync everything together so when you get into your Fitbit app it knows your current weight, which is a good thing .... I guess haha

How Much Do/Did You Know About Nutrition?
I feel like a knew a good bit about nutrition in general but this process has really made me look at things more closely, not just calories.

Looking for preop friends :)
Hi there. I go for my psych evaluation and dietician appointments tomorrow. I spoke to the surgeons office today and they said I may have RNY bypass yet in August or if not September. I can't wait to have this amazing tool.

Meal Prep
I am still pre-op but wanted some advice on meal prep. I admit I am not the best at planning ahead and I know this has to change. I am a drive thru junkie and known to have nothing but potato chips throughout the day. I would like to be prepared and start making changes now. What tips do you have for planning food/liquids? It seems like with the small portions it might make sense to plan a week or at least several days at a time? Do you use a form/spreadsheet? Looking forward to your advice from the other side of this adventure.

Coke Zero pre op diet
Congrats on kicking the diet pop habit. I am close to a week with no diet coke. Still having some headaches but I am confident I will never go back. I'm not a huge fan of flavored bottled water so I am still looking for water add ins. Do you have any you recommend that would also be good post op?

Help---- how do I even start quitting things ....
I'm right there with you. I gave up my diet cokes this week. I'm still having headaches. I hope to give up caffeine in another week. Then work on the sweet tooth. Surprisingly, I don't seem to be wanting as many sweets when I am not drinking diet coke. Hopefully this continues and isn't a temporary thing. Good luck!

How Good are You about Not Drinking While Eating?
This is a big fear of mine as well. Actually, this is the one thing my husband says he thinks I will struggle with the most. I gave up diet coke about a week ago (so very hard as I LOVED my diet cokes). Maybe it's all in my head but I don't feels the same kind of thirsty now that I am drinking tea or Water. I plan to switch to water only after the aspartame/diet coke withdrawal is over. I was afraid to give up caffeine at the same time. I didn't want to set myself up for failure. Did anyone try to practice not drinking with meals prior to surgery? I wondered if that would help. How soon prior to eating have you been told you will need to stop drinking? It seems like it is one of those things that vary by doctor.

Hernia repair/Vsg
I have a hiatal hernia which is what started the weight loss surgery path. I went to the surgeon for hernia surgery and he said with me being 95 lbs overweight the Nissan fundiplication wouldn't hold and the bypass would eliminate almost all the reflux issues. After a lot of research I have decided to do the bypass surgery and hernia repair. The insurance will cover the hernia as it a very valid medical problem attributing to the severe reflux which is causes esophagus scaring and such. From what I have read here and other sources it's fairly common for overweight people to have this type of hernia. I knew mine was there for about 5 years due to multiple scopes for the reflux problem but it has increased in size. A side note.... The part of the procedure covered by insurance is a small fraction compared to what you will still out of pocket from what I have been told. Hernia repair is outpatient so the hospital stay isn't covered which is the largest part of the bill. I still can't get a straight answer on the exact cost. I know that my doctor has an all inclusive program for $25,000 for bypass so I am hoping for at least a couple thousand off that.
