Could You Repeat That Order?
I haven't done any fast food or drive thrus. The closest I came was we had pizza one night and I ordered a thin crust pizza loaded with nothing but chicken, tomatoes, and cheese(no sauce, no greasy gobblins nada) and then I scraped the toppings off and ate those. It didn't sit too well though, and definitely not something I will do again. Since my surgery, I've noticed a lot of my "easy" foods are really just too much work for too little payout. The idea of driving to the pizza place, buying the pizza, bringing it home, scraping off the toppings, and then just being miserable afterwards, just isn't worth it! I'd rather just grab an egg out of the fridge and boil it. Less time, less calories, less drama. It all tastes the same anyway at this point! LOL I also carry a constantly full contigo bottle of ice Water heavy on the ice, cold on the water, to keep from falling into what I perceive as the devil's den. It would be very easy to fall off the wagon and order some fries or order and seemingly innocuous chicken sandwich minus the bun and then slather in sauce and eat more of it than I should have. This way, there's no walking that line of temptation.

Was anyone else able to start Blended Diet on week 2 ?
I was put on puréed foods at10 days out. I got soft foods at 1 month and full diet of trial and error on Christmas Eve. My surgery was Nov 9th.

February 8th!
I don't know what your surgeon prescribes as far as pre op diet, but mine doesn't do pre op diets anymore. I had no restrictions at all except the day before surgery was clear liquids and a bottle of magnesium citrate(fun times lemme tell ya!) so don't assume you will have one unless your surgeon has already stated otherwise, because I sweated that idea for 2months for nothing!

Everything is disguting
I'm almost 2 months out and some pills I just cannot swallow especially the giant vitamin pills. I switched to Bariatric advantage chewables and it's going better. I always had a super sensitive palate even before surgery, but since then, I gag on every taste that isn't right and every smell is 10000 times worse! The post op poop was the worst stinking foul nasty black compost like things. I was always holding my shirt over my nose with febreeze in one hand and toilet paper in the other. It got better and easier though. I take a daily probiotic and at this point, my poop is more like poop and less of a zoo in July. It does get better.

360+ pounds?!? help!
I was 386 on surgery day. I will be 2 months on Jan 9th and have lost 43lbs so far...that included a 3 wk stall with no weightloss at all. I'm back to losing about 1lb a day sometimes more, sometimes less. To be where I am right now, was nothing but a fantasy this time last year. I had rny and I absolutely do not regret it. My pouch is a bit picky about what it wants(which is very little), but I'm figuring it out and the fear of dumping (which I've not experienced yet) keeps me honest. I was a big time sugar addict pre surgery so I needed rny. The sleeve is fine if your problem is just quantity, but if it's about sugar and fatty foods, rny really is better.

Sudden stop in weight loss
It sounds to me like you are just hitting a stall! I hit my first at about 3wks out and it lasted almost 3 wks! I was distraught and depressed thinking I went through this surgery and all I got was a lousy 15lbs! It turned out that it's normal to go through stalls and that I needed to boost my protein because I was exercising a lot. Don't worry, you will lose again, but if you are super worried, call your NUT and ask for advice. It may be time to up your protein.

3 weeks post op gpass stall weight loss
I felt the same fear you have right now. At my 3wk mark, I stalled and my stall lasted almost 3 wks! I went into my NUT visit feeling like an utter failure until she told me she wasn't worried and I just needed to up my protein to cover my activity! She was right! As soon as I added a second protein drink in my day my weight went right down again! Just be patient and give your body what it needs and it will do what it needs to do. You will start losing again, just be patient and for me, I know I have to be very careful with carbs at all otherwise it knocks me right out of ketosis every time.

CONSULTATION
Most of what happens will depend on insurance requirements. For me, at my first appt, I was weighed, we went over diet history, I talked to the NUT and had to give a rough accounting of my daily eating habits-don't worry, a crappy diet is a good thing because it shows that you need help. Then after that, we talked about weight loss goals and which surgeries would be a good choice. When I left, they pulled my insurance info and told me I would be doing the 90 day program(which scares the crap out of me because I had already wrapped myself up in the idea of a 6 month supervised diet). It was all pretty straight forward for me. 90 days, 4 NUT visits, 1 psych eval, no weight gain and we worked on little changes to make to my diet and exercise at each NUT visit, and then there was a class on life post surgery as far as eating and vitamins etc and that was it! I had my surgery 11/9 and so far so good!

Hair Loss & Using Permanent Color
My NUT told me not to color my hair for the first 3 months because it's vulnerable to damage and coloring will cause more damage. It's hard for me to hear I shouldn't but I'm willing to wait, because I had a bad bleach job that melted off my hair and I'd rather not melt my hair off again. I've already got breakage.

Surgery in a few days, any last minute advice?
Just don't be hard on yourself. Give yourself time to heal and don't jump on the scale the day you get home. Allow yourself to heal and be kind to yourself. There's a bit of an emotional ride when you get home and smell the first meal you can't eat.

Help! Weight gain after NUT!
I would just say that at this point, there's not a whole lot you can do to "fix" it. What is done is done. Just go into your appt and be open and honest with the surgeon. There's a chance he might cancel your surgery or post pone it, but I think the better bet is he'll just tell you to go on your liquid diet now and not fret about it. Unfortunately holiday weight gain is a problem that led many of us down this path and the only cure is to not to...which is easier post op.

My first major NSV post surgery!
they would just be sitting there unfortunately. I've got a lot of sizes to get there yet

You and your new post op ass, a guide.
I absolutely LOVE this whole thing! ???? the picture of the log in the toilet really sealed the piece though! ❤️

Please analyze my stall
you can get some flavor enhancers that Don't have aspartame. They are harder to find, but I found a couple that have a blend of Splenda and stevia.

My first major NSV post surgery!
that's so funny because awesome sauce is what I call ranch dressing and my toddler has started calling it awesome sauce too now! ????

My first major NSV post surgery!
I'm keeping the pair I wore to my first appt to use for the "Pants over Skyridge" event at our hospital when I reach my goal. They take a pair of before and after sizes pants and write a bio and it's really cool.

post-op poops!
No, no effect one way or the other for me, but the probiotics helped to keep me from getting backed up. I take one daily.

I need food! 7 days post op
Chew ice. That's how I got through it! Post op I wanted to kick food and taste stuff so bad, but the ice was a win win because I was chewing and I got more water in than I would have!

Storage for pre op shake
You could just buy premier protein already made and then just tote it in a lunchbox with an ice pack. I don't much care for premier, but it does work if you do.

Colorado ladies?
@@2muchfun you don't look like Kelly in your pic...did you post the info about pants across Skyridge for her?
-
post-op poops!
I had my gallbladder out in 2002, so it wasn't a factor in my surgery.
-
Colorado ladies?
how cool! Are you using National Bariatrics/Dr Chae? He is awesome! Very nice guy and very caring and his nutritionist Kelly is awesome! We probably talk too much at our appts, but I love her to death! Ok, the surgery itself wasn't bad at all. I did a 90 day program with Kelly to prepare for surgery and she really prepared me for everything post op. The surgery went fast. He was done in 90 mins or less. It helped that I already had my gallbladder out years ago. Everything was straight forward. I had trouble breathing from the pain meds so my oxygen was low, but once I was off them, I was fine! I went home not needing pain meds. I had 4 tiny holes and a drain hole. I got my drain out 10 days later. So, I'm 1 month out now, I've lost 1 pant size so far, but I was starting from a really high weight, so it's going to take awhile, but it was totally the best decision I've ever made!

Before and after, yowwwza.
You look amazing! Wow! Good job!

Please analyze my stall
I would recommend getting some flavor enhancers for you water or cut some lemons and put in your water to help increase your liquids. Decaf tea is another option but that 64oz of fluid is super important! Also like some have said jerky at this stage is definitely not going to be productive and you should limit your fruit and veg until you've reached your minimum protein requirement. Also very important this early on to track and actually measure everything you eat because portion distortion is real and you need to stay at 2oz per meal 3x a day. My advice on protein shakes is to keep trying different kinds and flavors. I am lactose intolerant post op so I have had a time finding something I can tolerate, but syntrax nectars work well and aren't heavy or sickening chocolate or vanilla concrete like most of them. I buy syntrax twisted cherry and have 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening before bed.

Using the bathroom
I'm 1 month out and my first post op poo was 8-9 days later and it was horrifically hard and painful. After that, I went to taking a strong probiotic daily and now I'm good! Not every day good, but every other day and it's soft and not painful at all. I highly recommend probiotics!
