  1. Hi there! I've unfortunately done that more often than I'd like to admit. It know it's not good but if it help relieve the discomfort it's worth it. For me, still even at over a year out, the difference is a bite or two. I still need to tell myself to stop eating before I get to that point of discomfort. The frequency definitely decreases over time though...

  2. Since my surgery May 1st I am no longer taking BP medications (those were discontinued within the first month of surgery), I am currently weaning off my heartburn meds and I no longer use my CPAP! I can't believe how great I feel. I get easily frustrated since I've been at the same weight for some time now but I look at these NSVs and it helps keep things in perspective!

  3. Hello there! I'm actually from around DuBois and went to McGee for my surgery. I see Dr. Gisele Hamad, she and her team are awesome. I'm 9 months out and have lost about 120 lbs since I started my diet, about 90 since surgery in May. I too wanted to have the sleeve but Dr. Hamad felt that the bypass would be the best option for me. I had a lot to lose plus I had GERD. With the sleeve there is no guarantee that I wouldn't continue to have issues. I am so happy with my decision and feel awesome! It definately is a lifestyle change and I exercise like there's no tomorrow. I go to spin classes, zumba and toning several 4-5 days a week, sometimes double classes. I would have never thought that I could do these activities. I hope that you have the same success and ability to feel awesome.!

  4. I had the same thing happen. I got my period shortly after surgery. I hadn't had it for years due to my Mirena. I will be 8 months post op on 1/1/16 and my periods are starting to slow down again and be 'regular'. I had quite a bit of irregular and breakthru bleeding there for a bit. Very frustrating!! Good luck!

  5. I went to pick up my little cousins at daycare on Friday after work for my aunt. When I got there they asked to see my ID to verify I was who I said I was and permitted to get the kids. The daycare worker did a few back and forth looks at the ID and me. She didn't believe that it was me and was quizzing me on the info on my driver's license. It was was good feeling to know that I've lost so much weight that my license is unrecognizable! It's not renewable until 11/2017 so it should be interesting how different I look by then!!

  6. I usually donate my clothes but given the drastic amount of weight that I'm losing, I'm having difficulty keeping in smaller stuff. Right now I'm keeping all of my bigger clothes in totes and I may have a yard sale in the summer and use that money toward some new clothes. I'm hoping by next summer I'm closer to my goal and won't be wasting money on clothes that I'm just going to be getting rid of again. I work in a hospital and have to dress so most of my clothes are nicer and hopefully I can get something decent for a huge wardrobe!

  7. I just had my 6 month post op appt on Tuesday. My surgeon gave me a script for routine labs. As it turns out, my Iron is low. As a result I'm going to start taking another iron supplement at bedtime along with Vitamin C to help with absorbtion. I have to have another blood draw in 6-8 weeks to ensure that my levels are up and I don't become anemic. Ironically, my other levels, B12, Calcium etc were fine. Has this happened to anyone else? I just find it odd that I can absorb the calcium, D and B12 just fine and the iron is low.

  8. I was started on my CPAP in January of this year as part of my presurgery process. I was only on 6mm of pressure. I had my surgery May 1st of this year and I'm currently doing a 30 day titration study to see if I can go off of it already. I have probably lost 80-90 lbs since I started it in January and the weight loss has made such a difference. My family tells me I no longer snore and I don't really notice a big difference when I sleep with the mask or not. Hopefully you can eventually get away from wearing it!

  9. I've wondered that myself. When I hit 4 months my hair just came out like crazy when I showered. I will be 6 months on 11/1/15 and it's slowed down a bit but I'm still getting quite a bit when I shower. My hair has always been thick and I've needed it thinned when I get my haircut. Well the in past 2 months, I have not needed it thinned out. I take zinc and Biotin at night to help with hair and nails, I don't know if it necessarily helps with the Hair loss but I've been taking them since I was allowed post surgery.

  10. It is not silly. This is something that I worry about as well. I recently had a blockage and when they did the CT to determine what was going on, the surgeon told me that my stomach was the size of a normal persons since it had been accumulating with food and not passing through. Ever since then I've been petrified that I screwed it all up. I don't dump so I can't really speak to that aspect. I will be 6 months out on Nov 1st and see my doctor on the 3rd so I will definately be asking questions about the size of the pouch. I do believe however that the pouch size will increase a little as we're able to tolerate more foods but I don't think that its supposed to be as large as prior to surgery.

Maybe others have some more concrete advice for us...
