  1. I was out jogging with my son and we stopped to see a snow fort that a guy was making. When he saw us he said, "Someone is staying fit." instead of, "Someone is getting fit." It's the little things!

    Relationships

I used to be completely ignored when I was out in public, but now that I'm 125 lbs down, random people will start up conversions in checkout lines or at the gym. Men actually smile at me and hold the doors open. It's kind of weird! My friends and family all tell me I look great but none of them treat me differently.

    Elusive Onederland - No more!

I just hit 199.8 this morning! I'm putting my scale away for awhile! I know weight fluctuates so I don't want to get back on there anytime soon and see my weight starting with a 2!
  4. I'm at 199.8 this morning! Finally hit Onederland for the first time in 16 years! My goal for this challenge is 180! It's a pretty big goal but the end of the challenge will be around my 9 month mark and my surgeon said that's when weight loss starts to slow down, so I'm trying to do as much as I can before that happens!

    Belly Bra?

I wear shape wear or Spanx when I workout so I don't jiggle and it really helps. It holds everything in nice and tight!

    Grazing is the DEVIL!

I had the same problem! Holidays are hard. I am starting the new year back to the basics. Lots of protein and veggies and no carbs and sugar! It is nice knowing that once I get back to eating correctly that the weight will start coming off again!
  7. That is awesome! Congratulations!

    Clothes

I've been shopping at thrift stores. I buy a few things that can be mixed and matched so that I'm not buying very much in each size. I've been giving all my too big clothes to a friend that had surgery a couple weeks ago or you can try selling the clothes you no longer need.
  9. Final weight 200! I pound from reaching my goal and onederland. I'm really hoping I wake up tomorrow to at least 199.9 so I start the new year in the 100s. But I can't complain, down 121 lbs total!
  10. My first goal is to get to goal weight and maintain. I also want to do the Couch 2 5K program and do a 5K and then progress to a 10k, maybe even a half marathon in November!
  11. 201 this week. Only 2 pounds to my goal for this challenge and to Onederland! I need to have a good week this week!
  12. My surgery was about 2 months after my first appointment with my surgeon. I had to go see a dietician, an exercise therapist and have a psych eval. I made my appointments and then asked to be contacted if they had cancellations. 2 of my appointments got bumped up. My insurance also called for 6 months of working with my doctor on weight loss but my doctor wrote my insurance company a letter recommending the surgery. I also called and personally spoke with the woman at my insurance company that did the approvals. She called me herself a few days after my paperwork had been submitted to her and told me I had been approved. I did everything I could to move it along faster.

NSV - Shopping at a Regular Store

Congratulations! I just went to Lane Bryant last night and had to buy their smallest size in a blazer and their smallest bra! I still have 53 lbs to goal so I know I won't be able to shop there anymore pretty soon! It's an awesome feeling!
  14. Thanks for this! I struggle taking my vitamins and I recently had my 6 month labs done and I'm low on vitamin D. I really need this surgery to be successful so I guess I need to take my regular vitamins and my extra vitamin D more regularly. And I'll be spending extra time outside come spring!

    Elusive Onederland

I'm right there with you! My goal is 199 by New Year's and I'm at 203.8. It's been 17 years since I was in onederland and I'm so ready to be back! Just keep working. We'll get there!
  16. 203! 4 pounds from my challenge goal and from Onederland!
  17. Definitely get rid of them! And get rid of the mentality that you will just gain it back! I kept 1 pair of pants and 1 shirt so that I'd have a reminder of where I was and where I never want to be again! I am just buying a few things at thrift stores as I lose the weight and then once I'm at goal weight I will start to build my wardrobe. This is a life change! No going back!
  18. I have had hair loss since about 3 months and I'm at 7 months now. I've been coloring my hair every 6 weeks since the beginning and haven't noticed any change when I color it. Losing my hair makes me feel bad enough about my hair, ugly roots would just make it worse so I've chosen to keep coloring it. There hasn't been any damage to my hair, it's just shedding and I think that is just from the surgery. I actually just chopped it off pretty short and it's much better!
  19. I've been losing a lot of hair for the last 4 months but I've been coloring it every 6 weeks. I haven't noticed any extra hair loss after coloring it. I don't bleach it, though, so I'm not sure how that would effect it.
  20. 6 1/2 months out and 108 lbs down! 62 lbs to goal!

    Onederland!

Congratulations! 14 more pounds and I'll be there too! I'm very excited!

    Lightheaded

I'm a little over 6 months out and I've been having this problem too. I just met with my surgeon and he thought it could be that I needed more protein or more fluids. The did a blood test and everything was fine except I have low levels of vitamin D. I'll be taking a supplement and we'll see if that helps.
