  1. I don't mean to visit FYI land but do you lose fat everywhere? Like soles of feet, knees etc. How about private areas? I figured boobs rump and both kinds of cheeks. I'll miss being asexual, strange as it seems, I may have dudes hitting on me, hadn't happened in years , now what? Well I'm gonna bear up under the strain if I must.when I let the pruned down Rosey out will anybody like me?/And more important will I like me? I'll need new clothes, what do I do with the old ones. Some I've had for years and years. I have always feared getting rid if things, figured I only deserved tacky wornout things, not bright colors, bright print or polka dots. Leather, shade and silky fabric, I spent that money on other family members. Do I deserve a turn? Yes I do, and I will. Watch out world, Turbo Rosey's coming, just grab the roll bar and breathe deeply. Posey Power for the Rosey!!!

    I totally love this! :D

  2. My surgeon is phasing out doing the band as well. He feels that many people "abuse the band" and then blame the band.

Here is my theory, with the band you still have that big hungry stomach under there, growling to be fed. Just like any other diet it will work for a while when you are super motivated, but after you get tired of being hungry you figure out ways to eat around the band. I have heard of people drinking milk shakes, etc.

While I understand that ANY WLS is just a tool and we still have to work at it, the restrictions or the other surgeries seem to help more people long term (not all of course, you can always gain back if you aren't careful)

I didn't like the idea of the band when I first heard or it. I understand people like the fact that it is reversible but I don't like the idea of that object being in my all the time. Now many people are having slippage, corrosion, etc of the band.

Some people are successful with it but lots of surgeons are not happy with the stats.

I'm revising from band to sleeve in two weeks.

If you didn't have the band, please don't make broad statements about why I need this revision.

I didn't "abuse the band". It injured me and continues to do so.

I had my band for more than six years- I thought it would be in place forever. Unfortunately, my body has decided that enough is enough. My esophagus is worn out from working hard to get food through the restriction. It has nothing to do with eating around the band or drinking milkshakes. I did what was asked-I continued care with my surgeon, I saw the dietitian and exercise physiologist, and ate as required for six years. I lost a lot of weight but once things started going bad, none of that mattered. I did my due diligence and researched before I was banded in 2010.

I resent your implication that I did this to myself. You have your theories about why the band doesn't work, but you need to be careful when you make blanket statements.

Yes, it's dropped in usage but it isn't just because everyone abused it or ate around it-the problem is with the device itself.

OP-I'm revising because I can no longer eat food and have it go through without sitting in the back of my throat. My last upper GI showed that the barium didn't clear the band for almost five minutes. My band now sits empty, ready for revision.

    Amen. I love your reply.

I had lapband surgery back in 2011, when i weight over 500lbs. The band was great and I lost over 240lbs. Life was great. I was running, exercising everyday, staying up on ally support doctors, dieticians, fills etc.

Back in 2014 after a fill the band eroded into my stomach. I was not drinking milkshakes, overeating, or finding ways to overeat. Long story short I spent a week in the hospital on two of the best anitibiotics known to man and required emergency surgery to removed the band. I then spent the next two months out of work on hardcore oral antibiotics treating a staph infection that nearly killed me.

Do not ever make assumptions or accusations that you know everything about what some of us went through. If you are just starting trouble because of your own insecurities take it somewhere else because some of us actually use this site as a portion of our continued support.

Sorry for the rant but I could not keep that in.

I went forward with bypass surgery andbhad it oct 3rd 2016. I will keep you all posted on how it goes.

BTW - I just wanna point out that the orginal poster did not say or make a broad statement about abusing the band... she said her Surgeon did.

Anyhow, I revised because I stopped losing weight with the band - I was stuck at 270 for 8 years, I didn't gain any though. I did lose about 60 - 70lbs with it, and believe me I'm happy I started with it as the only other option I had back then was the gastric bypass... and I wasn't and am still not to thrilled with the idea of rerouting my internal organs. lopping part of one off though, obviously not that big of a deal to me. I need the restriction, I found that out during my brief 6 month stint of having no fill and sadly no willpower to say no to my wants. I've worked at saying no more often and learning to figure out the difference between mouth wants and stomach wants/needs. Its easier when your not running to the bathroom after every bite.

  3. I've been looking into laser, but was told it would be ineffective on me because I'm blonde... soooo I just wax my upper lip (which is where it grows the most), or tweeze it... I get a few on my chin and under chin, but I can keep those under control by tweezing - I can feel them, can't really see them.

My middle sister has a huge problem with hair under her chin and on her upper lip - she's darker then I though, so its more noticeable... she shaves though :/

Still looking into laser - but I thought laser was permanent - why do you keep having to go back @@Lema ? is it because of the PCOS? I don't really understand what PCOS is, as I've only heard of it mentioned here.

  4. I take these pills (i call them don't make Manda mad pills) that I've already up the dose from 1 a day to two (which my psychologist said was fine), but I'm noticing lately I'm getting angry easier again and I'm not sure if its the pills not working or my hormones. How can you tell which it is?

I really don't like take meds to begin with, but these do help when dealing with my anger issues as I was always waking up angry, I don't stay that way - it just is left overs from bad dreams. but with these pills prior to surgery - I wasn't anymore... I have a bit of bipolar :/ genes are awesome... aren't they?

I'll probably just wait to see my Dr. I see him in like two weeks... was just thinking about it cause I noticed while on the phone with a customer I got a little excessively upset and feeling as though was going to pop a vessel... and it was over something stupid as them not understanding that all I wanted was an address to send their invoices too.

  5. @@OKCPirate I agree with @@LipstickLady - you don't tell her! Let her decide to pursue WLS or not. She may have PCOS if the weight coincided with puberty. Stress will really mess with her hormones and can cause weight gain. Although she's probably a great candidate for WLS - it's not something anyone wants to hear from a parent.

Yes, I'm being lazy... atm - I keep reading this, but what is PCOS?

  6. I've probably had a few dumps... but no one really notices because to them its just me being a b... instead of them reading the stuff I showed them... *shrugs* funny thing is my roommate and I are getting along better lately, and my youngest sister that I've always gotten along with basically told me to go f... off and she'll see me on the holidays if she has too... haven't spoken to her since, and seriously all I did was accuse her not letting me use the car for a class I had to go to because she wanted to hang out with her boyfriend - the way I felt about it is that she could handle3 hours away from him...

*shrugs* I did apologize to her. but I'm kinda tired of being the one that always takes it, so outside of the last things I said to her, and she just responded with I love you sissy - basically her apology. I'm tired of being the adult and letting things go and being the first to break the ice - it makes me feel desperate and weak.

  7. I've been using Jefit - bought the 4.99 version too and I REALLY like it - has all the machines that I use listed or I can substitute a similar one. Only thing I don't like is it doesn't have Water aerobics on it, so I just substituted regular Aerobics for it...

  8. LoL I was walking around in the recovery room and up the same day. I didn't like the push button pain meds despite some pain. Day 2 I was released and shopping for nail polish... 7days, 4 kids and 10lbs down I'm just on an indoor vacation watching Netflix and catching up on sleep... I might be constipated though haven't gone in a couple days but then again I haven't really eaten anything.

Milk of magnesium- I took some a week after surgery cause I hadn't gone and it helped :)

  9. I was thinking this morning about how my brother came down to visit and decided he loved Kolaches - I've never been a huge fan because of the sausage(back from before I had my gallbladder removed sausage was a huge NO without causing issues)

ANYHOW - I started thinking about how I miss Pittsburgh's version of kolaches and that there was a store downtown that sold pretzel wrapped hotdogs and how the first bite was always super amazing... but even with that first bite to tempt me... I was kinda eh about wanting one...

  10. Thank you all for your suggestions - and I agree I do need to get out of that habit... just if I come across it again - it was super bad last night... I want to be prepared with healthy alternatives :)

I didn't realize I had all these I'm bored eating moments until I started paying attention more... like at work and watching a late movie... gah

  11. So I was told need to quit smoking 2 months prior to my VSG procedure. My question is, would Vaping Nicotine Free be alright? Its only Propelyn Glycol which is found in Iced Cream & Bacon. And Vegetable Oil.

Actually - several ppl offered you advice on it - it is YOUR decision to make on whether you want to do it or not. We are not here to tell you yes or no as we don't know how your body will react to it. You'll have to make up your own mind based on what you've read.

We aren't your parents. We can only offer you our experiences. As such - mine - I vaped before surgery with 6mg and I vaped after surgery with 6mg and I have had as of now no complications from it. But that's not to say that you will or will not.

You've gotten a lot of good advice and experience stories from ppl on here - except fredbear (like @@OKCPirate said big claim - needs proof). No one should tell you yes or no - as you're an adult... and we aren't your doctor or your parents.
