    I was all geared up...

No, I don't have any co-mobidities - I'm fairly healthy except that I'm overweight... I've been lucky so far with that. But my father died at 52 from a massive heart attack - he had diabetes and he was over 350lbs, and I don't want to go that way. I have minor issues with my knee, part weight related and part an old injury that I had surgery on 16 years ago. If I had any money saved up or able to get a loan - I would totally go self pay, but I am not in a financial position to be able to do that.

    Silly Rant!

@ANewKK the avocado is really good made that way - I make them in the microwave - just have to watch that it doesn't explode when the egg is done - it takes a bit to get used to because the texture of the avocado is different, softer and mushy... I do mine up plain or sometimes add a lil bit of season salt - or add cheese to it...
  4. I think its being missed that I mentioned that I talked to my surgeon's assistant already... I have never been and hope to never be seditary - I am a very mobile person - I work out twice a week as I have since before my band was unfilled - I continue to do so because I don't want to gain any weight back as a result of my band being unfilled and having no restriction. It was due to my no filter for when it came to eating regardless of whether it was good for me or bad - I had no oh I'm full lets stop eating until I had the band put in. and now that it unfilled I am very scared that I will regain what I lost with it, so I continue to work out to keep that from happening before my surgery. Thanks y'all for your concern - but don't worry... I did and will continue to talk to my team about my concerns when I get freaked out like I did in my original post on here.
  5. Um... Yes - because that is what my Surgeon's assistant said - I probably should have stated that too... I get that it is a serious thing believe me - nothing about this surgery is not a serious issue and I know this, that's why I'm here and paying attention to what is being talked about and am very glad I am or I wouldn't have known about the shots/pills until the surgery...
  6. Anyhow - I originally started readg thispost because I wanted to see how ppl that have had the surgery dealt with smoking afterwards. Basically, I'm seeing it depends on the person - so I just have to keep in mind when I do, nothing but water
  7. Actually - it is addictive, but it isn't the actual weed that is - its the habit, who you're doing it with or not with - when you do it... thats the addiction. I'm a purely social smoker - I only smoke with others. and that means that if we're not smoking (with someone I'm used to smoking with) I get bored and start craving it. Yes, I can ignore it - as I don't have an addictive personality, but I have a roommate that does and he can't go more then a couple hours without smoking because it helps keep him calm. and I've seen how some of my friends who would smoke regularly would act slightly different when they aren't smoking and then smoke - then see them act completely different personality wise when they haven't smoked in months. Example is actually my sister - when she was smoking all the time and then on the days she wouldn't she'd be easily irriated and easily annoyed vs when she would go months without smoking - she'd have a lot more patience. it affects everyone differently, and it depends on the person on if its addictive or not. The actual 'drug' may not be - but your habits make it so.
  8. ohkay - so since I'm mobile and all that - I should be fine and not have shots except while at hospital - I hope... that kinda freaked me out a lil...
  9. Whoa Whoa - wait I have to give my self shots?! I can't stand needles... no one told me I have to give myself shots... this adds something else I need to wrap around before surgery so I don't get freaked out... why didn't anyone tell me I had to do shots?!... I'mma talk to my doctors about this - I want to know EVERYTHING I'm going to have to do and deal with after surgery... I don't like suprises when it comes to stuff like this...
  10. ohkay - I'm more then sure that this has been asked, but why no straws - for me it makes it easier to sip if I have a straw then without... mind you - i've probably read the answer somewhere else as well, but I don't remember it

    I've been approved!

    Congrats!!!! You got this
  12. I'll do it with y'all but I'll have to start tomorrow, so I'll be a day behind! With my band unfilled... I've gained a little bit this last month, so my nutritionist wants me to try to lose it. I start back at the gym tonight after a month break a liquid diet would help me get back on track!
  13. the only candy I would miss at Halloween since it ONLY seems to come out at Halloween are the Mary Jane's peanut butter thingies...

    Planet Fitness?

Don't think you can't fit on the machine! those things adjust - I found that out... I wouldn't do the leg curls because of my knee being a weaka** punk - after awhile I started to though - with very little weight - the leg thing adjusts and so do the seats. I still can't do the lat pulldowns either - hurts my shoulder to much - but I do everything else Good luck!!

Etiquette of posting in "[opposite sex] Only" forum?

Grrrrrr - LOL - I have to admit - I am now insanely curious about what word you are talking about! sheesh... one track mind of a cat... yes, I combed the thread and could not find any one word that stood out! however, lots of great pictures
  17. For my very first topic starting post - I have a question that I have not been able to find the answer to and have 7 more days til I talk to my Nutritionist again. Diatomaceous earth - has anyone used it as a supplement after having gastric sleeve done. Does anyone have any real information on it - ie. someone that has used it and can tell me if it its worth it or if it'll irritate my stomach after surgery? My roommate is swearing by the stuff and well I'm not a fan of jumping on the new stuff bandwagons - but he's making me live with the crap all over my house, as it does kill bugs - that I have managed to find out first hand. However, he now wants me to start drinking it like he does everyday because he thinks it is good for us. I don't like anything extra going into my diet that I don't really know what it will do. I'm not a fan of medicines at all except when i'm seriously ill. Anyhow, does anyone have any personal information with Diatomaceous earth? Thank you!
  18. @@OutsideMatchInside Thank you! That gave me a little bit more perspective.
  19. Yeah, that's what I'm trying to find out - what the real benefit is of it vs anything else that is out there as far as Vitamins and such... I mean if it does the same as vitamins, but is drinkable then that is a benefit for when we're still healing and can only drink liquids... I dunno...
  20. - Just to Clarify - I have not been sleeved yet I'm still waiting for approval and I am hoping for surgery in January, so I can use my flex spending for most of the out of pocket costs. Yes, its the food grade and not the stuff you use in your pool - the one for pools is a different kind and not safe at all. I've been trying to find more information on it to be safe. I'm just not finding what I'm looking for, so I was hoping someone else might have experience with it. When it comes to putting ANYTHING in my mouth/body/whatever - I want to be sure its safe and that I know where its been, what it can do, and what it can't do... I'm not stupid but I get all these OH its sooo safe - yeah for normal people with normal stomachs... I want to know if it'll be safe after sleeved, as it is suppose to be a supplement. I guess I'm gonna have to wait to talk to my Nutritionist and find out. Roommate doesn't do extensive research on anything - he's a very spur of the omg some chick told me this was good for me, I looked it up - read a little bit and now I drink it kinda person... yeah - I don't follow the new trendy bandwagon... hence why I did soooo much research on the sleeve before I even remotely considered it for replacing my band... We'll see - maybe my nutritionist will have more info. If not, doesn't bother me none not to try it - but I didn't want to just say no without at least looking into it.

    Alternatives to Candy for Halloween

Your link is broken or I just don't see it. I like giving out small toys - since I have nieces and nephews that actually like the toys better than the candy sometimes. Less fights that way too. lol

    Greek yogurt:( yuck !

I think it depends on the brand of greek yogart - my favorite is The Greek Gods - I even like their plain one - I use it to add various things to it - I normally buy the honey/vanilla or strawberry/honey - I recently got their black cherry and added chocolate protein to it makes it kinda taste like chocolate covered cherries. I hope you find something you like to substitute. Greek Gods is the only one I like really the others are kinda iffy...
  23. I wish I could get mine done there. I'm having to go all the way to Memorial Hermann when I set my date.
