  1. Yes we are doing this for our health. We have our physical health that the surgery will help with diabetes and high blood pressure, sleep apnea and all the other issues that we face. But there is also our mental health. I'm sure we all have stories of feeling out of place because of our weight. Not wanting to do certain things because we're afraid we won't fit in the seat or not wanting to participate in a sporting event because of how we might look. But we are taking the steps that we need to physically and mentally make us better people. And in turn that will take care of our spiritual being because we will be much happier and healthier! You are not alone by any means. There are 1000s of people in your shoes (including me) but look at it this way at least you are brave enough to say it!

  2. This is all good to know. I have BCBSDE and they require 6 months of nutrition classes. Not to mention all the blood work, psychologist, nurse practitioner, cardiologist, pulmonary, endoscopy test and chest xray that is required by the Chrias group at Christiana hospital. Long process but hopefully sweet results!

  3. I think everyone is nervous about seeing a psychologist. I know I was! But it's for our mental stability. This surgery is a very emotional process. Don't stress over it. You will be ok. Like I told my psychologist "Are any of us really normal?!"

hahahaha did you really say that I bet he/she was laughing maybe I'm just desperate because this process has been too long and I'm tired of being fat
yes I did say that! And believe me I know how you feel. I have been overweight for like 25 years. And I am only 46! Over half my life! But look at it this way, we're finally doing something about it! At least we are moving in the right direction!

  4. I started my journey on May 19. At which time I attended a free seminar that tells you all about the surgery options and just general information. It was very helpful in assisting me with what type of bariatric surgery that was best for me. So I will be sleeved! I had my first appointment with my surgeon back in June. My insurance requires that I take 6 months of nutrition classes. So my first class was in June. Next class takes place July 20. Then it's a busy month August with appointments to cardiologist and pulmonary. Then 3rd nutrition class plus my egd test. Every thing I go to creates excitement and nervousness at the same time. I just wanted to let everyone know that this is by no means the easy way out! Don't be discouraged! You can do this! More to follow......
