  1. My surgeon said at least 60 grams of Protein a day, and no more than 60 grams of carbs. Protein first and if my carbs are coming from natural things then I will do fine. That was basically his way of saying the processed foods should be avoided. I don't have a nutritionist and I am ok with that. I am 5 months out and down 72 pounds. Started at 289 and I am down to 217. I am 5'9". I have not been as great about getting in all my walking and working out but I am working on it. I would listen to what the nutritionist says. It's more in line with what I hear.

  2. Hey everyone. I am almost 5 months out of surgery. My surgery went super smooth with very little complication. However today, I am sick as a dog. I have picked up a stomach bug from somewhere and have been struggling with nausea and diarrhea all day. I am super dehydrated and have called my surgeon and he said to monitor it and if it gets too bad to go to the ER and have some fluids done IV. I am struggling with getting enough fluids in and everything seems to be going right through. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? Anyone else been here? Thanks in advance.

  3. Finally had a break in the 17 day stall. I hit 234.2 this morning. I had been hovering between 237 and 236.4 for the last two weeks. Nothing I have done was making the scale move. I hate this part of the surgery. The stalls suck and make me feel like I am doing something wrong. But thankfully I know in my head I am doing exactly what I am supposed to.

  4. I am 5'8" and I had surgery 6/5/15. I am down 55 pounds in 14 weeks but I haven't lost anything really over the last 10 days. Stalls suck!! I feel like I am losing slow too but doc says I am doing fine so I am ok with it. Highest weight was 293. Day of surgery was 289 and currently I am at 234. This was a few pounds ago but you can tell a big difference.

I have gained a greater understanding of my food needs, a better outlook on life. My highest weight was 293. Surgery weight was 289. Current weight is 242 and I am almost 5'9".

  6. 246 this morning. Also Stephh I posted last week. It's #619. About three after yours from last week but you never liked it or the one after mine. I just noticed when I checked the spreadsheet this morning that you didn't have my checkin from last week on there. I was at 250 last week just so you know. Thanks for all you do!!!

  7. I must say, not to put a damper, but your stomach is like a brand new stomach, would you feed your baby like this? My doctor and team of nutritionist made it very clear to start with basics. The first 14 days, Clear Liquids only. So your brand new stomach can heal. And the number one cardinal rule was that you cannot use a bullet or blender or ninja. At all. Oh and definitely no spices.

I guess everyone's doctor is different from what I am reading. I just have been taught through this process not to drink your calories.

If I am totally off base then please enlighten.

It's not a new baby stomach. It's just been cut. You don't want to do anything that's going to irritate the lining of your stomach. If you had issues before surgery with spicy foods, you'll have it after. If you could stomach anything before surgery, more than likely you can stomach it now. It's not like they went in and replaced your stomach, they just cut most of it out. The reason people do baby good is because it's already soft and puréed. It's easy. I had a super easy time with good and was eating all kinds of spicy Soups and stuff even during clear liquids phase.
