    Plastic Surgery

I am a little over 2 years out from RNY and thinking about skin removal. Someone mentioned going out of the country for plastics. Is it cheaper?

    Plastic Surgery

@Djmohr thank you for your response. I am glad you have such a great team and have had a good experience with plastics. At this point I am only thinking about having it done because I know recovery will be difficult and I have a physical job in health care.

    Any Apple watch users?

Thank you! I have purchased one since I posted this. I love it! I set it to remind me to take the calciums also!

    Any Apple watch users?

If you use an Apple watch, how helpful is it for tracking the amount of calories burned throughout your day? Can it calculate calories burned while lifting weights? Do you use it to track your heart rate during workouts? I have about 25 lbs left to lose and I am stuck. I calculated my BMR and if I can figure out accurately the calories I burn at work and at the gym I think I will have a better handle on how many calories I should be eating to see the scale move.

Thanks for the response. I think the reminder to take vitamins would be helpful too!

I need help to get back in track

Wow, I need to follow you around for a day! You have done great. I have been stuck at 165 since the end of October.

    Any Apple watch users?

My tracker at the bottom says 15 lbs to go but that was my Dr.'s goal. I am only 5'3" and I would need to get to 140 to have a normal (not overweight) BMI.

One year out, weight loss is stalled

@@pammieanne Thank you, I have let some carbs creep back in. I am back at the gym and cleaned up my eating to lean Protein with some veggies. Hopefully I can get the rest of the weight off. I would like to get to 140 which would put me at a normal BMI for my height.
  10. I had RNY gastric bypass almost 1 year ago. I have been 165, 166 for the past several months. I am stuck here. Any advice from people who have gone before me? Should I try the 5 day pouch test? Maybe I should do the pre op liquid diet of 3 Protein shakes a day? I just want to jump start my weight loss again. I am 5' 3" and at 165 I am still overweight. Any advice on getting the remainder of the weight off would be appreciated. If you had RNY did you continue to lose after the first year?

  14. I'm sorry to hear that you are having such a rough start. It will get better as you heal, keep sipping all day long. Stay hydrated. The hospital gave you mashed potatoes?! I had a week of Clear liquids only and then two weeks of full liquids. After that was pureed foods for a week.

Are you post op? I did not have the sleeve but I would be careful with the sugar in smoothies. Even if there is no added sugar it might be too much for your new pouch to handle.

That looks really good! I love my IP!

    Just curious...

Thanks for the response. I think 800 is very low and especially at the two year mark. I have worked hard to get my calories up to a somewhat normal level. I am at 1,200 per day and weight loss has slowed but I'm ok with it. I am getting close to the one year anniversary of my surgery.

    Just curious...

How many calories per day should a gastric bypass patient be eating at two years post op? Someone in my support group who has been very successful, is still eating 800 to 1,000 calories a day at two years post op. It seems really low to me especially the 800. My nut gave me a print out at 6 months. The calories per day were 1,200. I'm just curious what you are doing if you are successful and 2 years out from RNY. Thanks in advance.

I have made a whole turkey breast in my instant pot in 45 minutes! I love how the meat is fall off the bone tender.

Y'all! I just bought myself an Instant Pot!

I love my instant pot too! I made this recipe yesterday, had leftovers today and they were even better! I did not eat it over rice but the family did. I did not use 1/3 cup of olive oil. I used 1 or 2 TBS to sauté the peppers, onions, and garlic. I used skinless chicken breasts and legs and made my own sour orange with 1/2 cup orange juice, 1/4 cup key lime juice and 1/4 cup lemon juice. http://www.mybigfatcubanfamily.com/2011/09/fricase-de-pollo-a-lo-cubano-2/
  21. 25 grams of carbs before a workout is not that much and oatmeal is a good choice. Try it and see what happens. 80 grams of Protein is great! Dehydration can cause fatigue. Try to focus on getting more Water in at work, maybe set a timer. Take a water bottle with you when you workout too. My surgery was Jan. 7th. I have added good carbs back in small portions. The adding of carbs may give you more energy. Are you having lab work done regularly? I am taking weekly nasal B12 which really helps with my energy levels.
  22. Is your trainer aware of your surgery? Can you find a trainer that works with bariatric patients? You are pretty early out to be increasing carbs. At 12 weeks I was able to eat some salad and some veggies but focused mainly on getting in enough lean Protein. My surgeon told me good quality protein is what is important if I am going to be strength training. Water is super important too. I am so glad I followed the advice of the PA who works with my surgeon and started strength training at 6 weeks out. It has really reshaped my body. Good luck to you!

    Supplements

@@rnjen5611 I also get the Bariactiv Vitamins and Calcium from Nascobal. Those calcium pills are not supposed to be swallowed whole but slowly dissolved in the mouth or chewed.

How much time did you take off work?

You should not drive while on the prescription pain meds, and you should have good range of motion without pain.
