  2. Happy -- Birthday CatLover!

  3. 6 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 6th Anniversary CatLover!

  4. I was banded on 09/22/05. I have found that since then I have been having very vivid dreams about food. I mean lots and lots of food. Food is everywhere and, yes I am enjoying it very much. In my dreams I sneak Cookies into my pocket, excuse myself so that I can go into another room that has food and eat without being seen, and so on and so on. Also, I love to cook, and since the weather has turned cool, I find myself wanted to cook and bake. I have tons of cookbooks and I have found myself going through them trying to decide what to cook for my family. I have finally realized that cookbooks are my pornography. I can get very excited thinking about what I want to cook and how it will taste. Can anybody else relate to this. I know I have to quit looking at my cookbooks - that is such self-defeating behavior. But I can't stop my dreams. Oh well, at least I can satisfy my cravings in my sleep and not gain weight! Cat
  5. Hi Everybody! Well, thanks to all of you and your many posts, I was encouraged to go through with this procedure and am so happy I did! I was fearful of the pain and unknown complications. The doctor told me it would be 1 1/2 hour surgery but he did it in 45 minutes! I had no complictions and very little pain - really just gas pains is all I felt. Fortunately, those only lasted a couple of days. I am back to work today and can do most things. I am a little more tired than usual, but, hey, I can accept that! I am so looking forward to the future now. I have a much more positive outlook. I lost 14 lbs pre-op and am anxious to see how I will do now. Cat

    September Bandsters??

Congratulations Vanesa on your banding! I am glad that you are feeling pretty good! Pam, thanks for the info that you provided. I am 50 and have a rather large bust, so I was worried about the bra. I am glad you are doing so well also! Well, tomorrow is B-day for me and I will join the rest of you bandsters!! I will be so glad when it's over. All you people here are wonderful and I love the way you support one another. I'll let you know how I'm doing after surgery, so you'll get yet one more perspective of this life-changing surgery!!! Best Wishes to all! Cat

    September Bandsters??

Hi Everybody! I will be banded the day after tomorrow! That will be 9/22 on a Thursday. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I'm hoping for the best but prepared for the worst as far as the pain during recovery. I'm curious if wearing a bra hurts. I will be in and out the same day, unless there are some complications. I just hope that I will be able to walk around and move in an ordinary way. I am hoping to get back to work by Monday. I have a job that requires some computer work as well as doing errands like going to a bank and other institutions. I'm praying that all of you are recovering quickly and will be on the way to a healthier lifestyle very soon! Best Wishes! Cat

    I'm feeling so weak....

Thanks to all of you who replied. I have a call into my doctor and am waiting for his response. I do feel a bit better today. The day after tomorrow is my surgery!!!!!!!!!! Catlover
  9. Hi, I am having surgery on Sept 22 (Thursday). My doctor has had me on Clear liquids since last monday (09/12). I was really dreading this part but actually, until yesterday I was actually breezing through this phase. I guess I had my eyes on the prize and I was just so excited to be getting the surgery done soon. I even felt more energetic...I think because I was dropping alot of Water weight. I've not had many hunger pains so I have been fortunate there. At times, I was feeling a little cocky - like, well maybe I could do this on my own!!!! I know better!! Anyway, starting yesterday, I started getting very, very weak. I guess this is really no surprise, I thought I would probably be weaker. But, I am totally wiped out, and I fear what I will feel like right after surgery. As far as I know my doctor starts us out on full liquids right after surgery. I don't think I really have any questions. I'm just posting to see how others got through this and of course to get a little support since I will be banded on 09/22!!!!!!! This is the best forum. You guys are great. I have read so much and have learned so much from all of you!! God Bless, Catlover

    I'm new here....

Yes, my doctor has me on clear fluids for 10 days. I have seen where others have been able to have Protein drinks and some have food, so I am not sure why he is so strict. Although, I have noticed that post-surgery I can go right into full liquids, including cream of wheat, pudding, and yougurt. So I don't think that will be as bad as some have it post surgery. I guess every doctor has his or her own ways! Cindy
  11. Hi everybody! I am new here. I have been lurking for a little while and I have to say you all are a really good group of people. As I have been doing research on the lap band, I have come accross other forums, and I must say this one definately has the nicest, most supportive people. I am scheduled to have surgery on Sep. 22. Today I started on all clear liquids until the day of surgery. I am really wondering how I will handle this. I'm excited but scared at the same time. I guess I will take this hour by hour. The time I worry about most is at night. I have always taken in the bulk of my calories at night. The carbs have helped me go to sleep. I don't know if I can go to sleep hungry. Well, I will look forward to getting to know all of you and I pray that each and everyone of you is getting along ok and will be successful in you weight loss efforts. God Bless! Cindy

    Seperation from Food

I have started on all Clear liquids today. My surgery is scheduled for Sept. 22. I, too, feel a little separation anxiety and am unsure of how I will handle this major change in my life. I don't even know how I will make it through the next 10 days with only clear liquids. I've been reading that many of you are allowed Protein drinks pre-surgery. My doctor wants me to have only clear liquids, including juices. I am concerned I will be very weak by the time the 22nd comes around. Good Luck!! Cindy
