    Stalls

yes. So common that there's an unofficial name for it - "The Three-Week Stall" (doesn't necessarily always fall on week 3, but somewhere around there)

    Eating Red Meat

fortunately, I don't think it's very common to lose so much that you need a wig (it happens for some, but again, from what I can tell, it's not all that common). It sounds like most people lose enough that *they* notice, but other people don't really notice.

    Calories and being discouraged

I just looked back in my records, and I was getting about 500 calories a day at three weeks out (over half of that being from Protein shakes). Fifteen pounds in three weeks is totally normal. It seems most people lose somewhere in the range of 15-25 lbs the first *month* (a few lose more, a few lose less). So 15 lbs in three weeks is right on target.
  4. I usually opt for a one-piece with matching shorts - and i wear the shorts in the Water. Although recently I bought a two-piece tankini sort of thing that's bottom piece has an "apron" over the front of shorts - so sort of a culotte-looking thing. That works as well...
  5. Maybe (having reflux after rny isn't common, but it does happen to some people ). I'd let your surgeon's office know, though. I started having reflux issues a few weeks out, and it turned out to be a stricture.
  6. I'm almost four months out and don't remember feeling full yet. Usually I just eat what I know I can eat with no hunger or "full" cues. Occasionally, I'll feel this acid-y feeling in my stomach (sort of like reflux) when I'm eating, and then I know I need to stop right then or else I'm probably going to vomit.

    Two quick questions:

rash - yes. Well actually, hives. For me it was a reaction to ursodiol.

    What’s in Your Healthy Lunch?

I make a pot of vegetarian chili (with things like carrots and bell peppers in it) occasionally on the weekend and we take that for lunch that week. I also keep string cheese and Greek yogurt in my fridge at work in case I don't have anything else to eat. Sometimes leftovers from the night before. I used to make hummus and eat that with baby carrots when I was a pre-op - I should start doing that again now that I'm cleared to eat raw vegetables again.
  9. you may not feel "full" for awhile - your nerves were cut. Just eat according to your program. I know it takes some getting used to, but....

    Best whey protein powder

you're probably going to get a lot of different opinions - people's tastes are different. I personally like products by Syntrax and unjury. Some companies have one-serving packets - you can always try some of those to see what you like before buying huge tubs of something you might not be crazy about.
  11. we were told to take Benefiber (or the generic equivalent) right after surgery because it doesn't gel up like Metamucil does over time, and we wouldn't be able to drink fast enough to avoid the gelling up. Although now that I'm out a few months and can drink pretty fast, I'm guessing I could take Metamucil again. I haven't asked, though. I'd just check with your surgeon.

    After surgery, time off

I took three. I'm glad I did. I probably could have gone back after two weeks, but I still got pretty tired during the day. I was glad I had three.

    Vomiting stomach acid

I agree. Call your surgeon's office. It could also be a stricture, but in that case, the vomiting and acid usually just occur after eating something. either way (ulcer, stricture, or something else), they may send you for an upper endoscopy to see what's going on. But you should definitely let them know.
  15. my boss and HR knew. I just told the rest of them that I was going to burn a couple weeks of vacation and do some house projects. as for the weight loss, I lost the most the first month. After that, it's been like 2-3 lbs a week. At my size, people don't start noticing I've lost weight until I've dropped 50 lbs or so. So people didn't notice the initial drop. So all they're noticing (if they notice it at all) is the gradual, 2-3 lbs a week. So far, telling them that I've been working with dietitian and exercising a lot satisfies them (any morbidly obese person would never buy that, but normal-weight people do)

    Swimming

my surgeon's PA told me I could go when all the surgical glue and scabs were off. For me, that was at about four weeks.
  17. yes they can come back - I've had two. But they tend to be an early complication - after the first 3 or 4 months, you'll probably be in the clear.
  18. hi - mine were about a month apart. I only had to do liquids the day of the procedure - it was back to my normal plan the next day

    Decisions on surgery type

the sleeve has become really popular - probably because, as others have said, the idea of re-routing your intestines really bothers a lot of people. I went with the bypass because I had GERD, and I've been very happy with my choice.
  20. some do some don't. Check with your surgeon - or a pharmacist may know as well.

    Constantly sick

I agree with Daisee68. I've had strictures as well. You should contact your surgeon's office for sure and let them know what's going on.
  22. they're caused by overgrown scar tissue. They're pretty easy to fix (I've had two). They usually happen early in the process - like within the first 2 or 3 months after surgery...so usually while people are still on soft food. If they get big enough, even drinking Water will set off the symptoms - acid reflux, vomiting, etc. You'll definitely know something isn't right, even if you don't know it's a stricture. I recognize the symptoms now...
  23. hmmmm.....I would think Unjury would be OK. But if by some offchance it *is* something in the Unjury, you might want to try Syntrax. It doesn't have an aftertaste, either (in fact, the only two protein powders I've found so far that don't have that protein aftertaste are Injury and Syntrax products)
  24. could it be something in the protein powder?
  25. Djmohr may be right - I had surgery two weeks before you (June 3). The only thing I can eat 1 - 1.5 cups of is Soup. Everything else is 1/2 - 3/4 C. And if it's really dense Protein, even 1/2 C can be challenging at times
