  1. i'm not eating any sweets (my downfall) because i am ASSUMING i will dump. I don't want to test it to find out!
  2. I can eat half a banana now with no problem! Yay!
  3. I just got a charge HR Fitbit too. Please add me too although I don't know what I'm doing yet! Maralee@wowway.com
  4. No dumping? I thought any sugar would bring on dumping?
  5. @@Djmohr Thanks for the tip. I'm not a huge tea drinker, more of a coffee drinker...but i may have to check this out. I do like Chai tea...
  6. It took a long time today, but I finally started feeling better at about 4pm this afternoon! I had 1/4 c cream of wheat this morning and nothing until about 2 (i couldn't eat or drink anything), when i had a premier protein shake, or rather, half of one. I drank the other half about 3:30....and as I said, started feeling better a while after that. It wasn't a great food day but i did get my protein in...had a quest bar tonight (20 g) as a snack, and earlier,1/3 cup clam chowder and 3 crackers for dinner. Didn't get all my fluids in, though.
  7. @@Djmohr where do you buy the chai tea and what kind of chocolate?
  8. I remember being very excited about being able to chew my chewable vitamin back at that stage!
  9. I'm glad the recovery time improves over time, but I'm not happy to hear that even you--people who are quite a ways past surgery--still have this happen. This is definitely a huge lifestyle change. People need to realize that presurgery. Although there are so many benefits...i guess it's just something that must be expected, and patiently endured.
  10. I'm nine weeks out and have no regrets about having gastric bypass. I'm down 46 pounds. yay! But I'm getting tired of having to always wonder if i can eat something or if i'm eating too much or if I'm eating too fast. I hate the feeling I get when my stomach doesn't like a food, and actually, I haven't even ventured out very far yet from yogurt, Soup, Protein shakes, you know; the 'slider' foods. This morning i had Cream of Wheat. With plenty of fairlife milk so it was creamy. I didn't eat much, perhaps 1/4-1/3 cup. So I don't think i overate. I had no desire or room to add fruit as my nutritionist suggests. I waited an hour to two hours and tried to drink some Water and my stomach wants nothing to do with it. I thought i was going to throw up but it seems to have calmed down now. But my stomach feels uncomfortable...so i am not feeling good right now. Ugh. i hate this part of the journey! I've had cream of wheat several times before. I don't remember it being a problem. Your comments? I feel like I can't even take my Vitamins right now.
  11. You did it! Congrats!!!!!
  12. I was also told to take flintstones complete and I do, twice a day, without a problem.
  13. i'm six weeks out from surgery, 40 pounds down including pre-surgery diet, and i'm feeling kneecaps! Before i had big rounded knees in the middle of my leg, but now, i have bony protrusions starting to stick up! So cool! (It's the little things!)
  14. hello fellow RNY folks. Well, today is my six week surgiversary. I'm doing well, feeling great, trying to figure out the learning curve with what food, how much food, etc. But all in all, things are going well. Except for exercise. I am 61, still weigh 259, and hate it. I have a treadmill and just forced myself to walk 3/4 of a mile in 24 minutes (=slow). I really dread it and am worried about my continued success if i don't exercise much. Are there some of you out there who have had extended success with just the food portion and not the exercise part? My bariatric center even gives me a year free membership at their fitness club but i have no desire to go there. Even a meeting with a personal trainer. They have a pool so i COULD do the aquacise thing (I used to do that many years ago) but where will i get the ambition to get dressed, in this 5 degree weather, and drive 25 minutes to the gym and then do it, and reverse it all? I'm sorry I'm having such a pity party. Just feeling down today about it.
  15. @@StabMyFinger Wow, what a long journey you've had. I'm so glad your spirits are still positive and you're happy you had the surgery! God bless you!
  16. @@Spiceyfrog It's scary! Makes me not want to try new foods. I'm at six weeks out tomorrow so the time has come to continue soft but try new things here and there and....I'm afraid to! i hate that "painful" feeling of too much/too fast/wrong food...or whatever it is that causes the pain! it makes me want to stick with yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese and Protein shakes...those are safe
  17. @@KirstyKirst81 I'd like to join the december Facebook group, please. I had RNY on December 1st.
  18. I just got one last week at my support group meeting. Don't know if I'll make use of it or not. We'll see!
  19. I think you're right. This was the first time I ate a hard boiled egg. I think it all added up to too much. I still have to get it through my head that life (eating) is going to be so different from before surgery. I knew it would be, but I keep forgetting....
  20. @@taysidebell That's my problem...i don't know what the "signal" is yet! You're right, when this happens, it takes a long, long time to feel better again. Ugh. I'm having premium Protein drink for dinner...i think that will go down fine and at least I'll have my protein in for the day, if not my fluids.
  21. Oh, and let me confess this, which i forgot to add. I forgot and drank half a cup of coffee right before eating. I didn't wait the thirty minutes as instructed. Maybe that had something to do with it. i don't know....
  22. I'm six weeks out on Tuesday. i went out to lunch with friends today and decided to order something...knowing I'd take most of it home. i ordered a "chicken salad plate." It had fresh tomatoes and cucumbers on it, which I knew I could not eat yet (as well as lettuce). I ate 1/4 of a piece of toast, a whole hard boiled egg, and about 4 small bites of chicken salad. And I have been paying for it all afternoon...not throwing up, but my stomach has not been happy. Burping. Feeling so full. It didn't happen right away, but took an hour and then for the next four hours. I am just now starting to feel a little better. I couldn't even drink anything, that made it worse. Argh! How long is it going to take before I know what I can and can't eat. It's kind of frustrating. I'd rather not eat much at all (not hungry) but i know I need to, and I read that I need to in order to keep the weight loss going. So I'm a bit frustrated today. But NO REGRETS at having WLS!
  23. @@kcbrook13 It gets better! just hold on....everyone said i wouldn't lose weight right away because of all the fluids they pump in you in the hospital, so don't expect it then you won't be disappointed. It takes a week to ten days and then you'll see results! Also, just keep doing exactly what they tell you to do as far as eating even if you don't feel hungry. I haven't felt hungry yet and i'm almost six weeks out. Lost 40 pounds as of this morning; woohooo! Just be patient and endure those first few days...it gets better.
  24. I had mine December 1, and I'm never hungry either. I force myself to eat.
  25. @@beckyrow did you have RNY? i was told tomato soup had too much sugar for RNY folks? have you had any symptoms?
