Updates on December 2015 Surgeries
Woodstock, IL with Dr. Heydari. He's wonderful and I have complete trust in him. So I shall do as he says! I did find out that i can have "smashed" cottage cheese and applesauce now though, during the "pureed food" two weeks. Woohoo. Had a smashed scrambled egg (four bites) this morning too. Tastes so good to have real food again, even though just a little bit. Merry Christmas to all!

SO Tired of Protein Drinks!
I am three weeks out and have to say, i don't know how many more Protein drinks/shakes I can handle. I am SO tired of them! I did start pureed foods today and had four bites of a scrambled egg this morning, which was DELICIOUS. But I have to still get in two Protein shakes a day for two more weeks...ugh, ugh, ugh. I'm SO tired of them. What foods give us the most protein? I'm not there yet so haven't researched. meat? cheese? Cottage cheese? the thing is, we can't eat that much of them to rack up the grams of protein like a Protein shake, right? Sigh. Just venting.....

Updates on December 2015 Surgeries
@@Mrs_B_12/16/15 Yes, when i moved from "clear liquids" to "full liquids," I can have creamed Soups that are strained. So I buy the chunky Soup clam chowder and like i said, give hubby all of the good stuff, and I keep the creamy delicious liquid part after it has been strained. It tastes just delicious and one can lasts for about 3 meals : ) Don't eat too much though; it's easy to do because it tastes so good. Have to remember how tiny your stomach is now! I made that mistake once of eating and drinking too much too fast and i felt absolutely awful for hours.

@@mrsob1 I hated that drain too, but now, I hardly remember it. It will be gone soon! My drained a lot too and it was just such a pain! But after a week, it was gone and life marches on....you'll be there soon and you'll be so happy to get rid of it!

Updates on December 2015 Surgeries
@@Mrs_B_12/16/15 After the clear liquids week, I was thrilled to be able to eat soup! i buy the good stuff and strain all of the chunks out of it (hubby gets those) and i just have the liquid, but oh my, that liquid is sooooo tasty! I especially like clam chowder. I move to the "pureed" stage Wednesday, so i have to figure out exactly what that means! Hang in there...this is just for a short time....and soon we'll have many more choices. Gotta let that pouch heal!

@Klolojadie. I'm so sorry to hear of your latest challenge! Has the dr figured out what it is, and are you better now? Thinking of you....this too shall pass and you'll be back on track very soon, I'm sure!

Stall already?
So after my rant, I thought I'd let you know the scale moved today, like two and a half pounds. Yay! Consistency and patience are definitely the words of the day/week/month/year/lifetime!

Stall already?
@@Inner Surfer Girl, thank you! Thanks for the link to the longer info about "stalls," too! You are absolutely right......sigh.

Stall already?
So I'm just 17 days post op and the pounds fell off in the beginning, something every single day, it seems. For the past five days I've stayed about the same. What's up with that? I'm hardly eating anything yet the scale isn't showing it? Does my body just need some adjustment time or something? I lost about 12 pounds prior to surgery with the pre-diet and I've lost 13 more pounds since surgery. Just curious....

RNY on Monday 12/14 some unexpected things
You're so welcome! i always drink flavored Water.... i like the kind Sam's Club offers called "fruit 2 O." It goes down much more easily than regular water. Occasonally i drink normal water but more often, it's the flavored stuff. I'm glad things are going better!

RNY on Monday 12/14 some unexpected things
@@Klolojadie, congrats on your surgery. It's over! You're on the other side! : ) I was surprised by how much pain I was in right at first, too. But it goes away with each passing day. You'll see. I'm two weeks out now, and my middle section is a bit tender, but I quit pain syrup quite a while ago, even at night. As for fluids, I count everything i drink as Fluid. So my Protein shakes give me about 27 oz alone. I make a carnation instant Breakfast (low sugar) shake with milk and ice, and it grows to about 16 oz. Then the 11 oz bottle of Premier Protein gets me to 27. I usually drink two bottles of Fruit2-0 during the day. It's flavored Water, 16 oz ea, so that gets me to 59 ounces. Just a few ounces of other liquid like a little diluted juice puts me over 60. And that's how *I* get my fluids in!

Updates on December 2015 Surgeries
Well, I had my first challenge tonight. I think I ate too much too fast and then my stomach felt very full and bloated. I was gone all afternoon and didn't have anything to eat (bad planning). So when I got home I felt like I had to catch up but I keep forgetting the size of my pouch! Lesson learned. I will do better.

Does burping mean my pouch is full?
@@WL WARRIOR I have noticed that my nose is running a lot lately, too. I'm not sick. What is up with that? Is there any connection to the surgery, the way I'm eating/drinking? I don't know. It's weird.

I had the RNY on 12-01-15
@@Lisee45 You're doing great! I had my RNY on Dec 1, too. I lost some in the pre-surgery diet and all in all, i'm down 24 pounds. It's like a pound a day for me now, too. I lost more in the beginning, which makes sense. But I have a lot more to lose than you do, too.And like I said, that includes ten days pre-surgery, all the way to today. I'm still on full liquids (creamed Soups, yogurt etc) but move to pureed on Dec 23 and can start having even more choices. It's so exciting, like "Christmas!" hahahahaha... I also have had no problems with eating or drinking, so far. Good luck!

Does burping mean my pouch is full?
Whenever I eat something, i quickly burp. Does that mean anything? Or just that the pouch was empty and air was trapped and needed to escape? I'm still navigating the "i'm full" feeling...trying to figure out what it feels like.

No One In The Sixties?
I'm 61 and had RNY on Dec 1. I'm feeling great--it's only been 12 days. I lost 22 pounds so far with pre-diet and post surgery loss. Woohooo! I also have 3 grandkids and want to be around for them. I also have a disabled adult daughter and NEED to be around a long time to help her as well. Lots of reasons. I have no regrets with the surgery yet. I hope I don't ever have regrets!

Updates on December 2015 Surgeries
I think my doctor must be conservative, protecting the pouch....allowing it time to heal. That's what I was told. I had one week of clear liquids, now I'm on two weeks of "full liquids." Then two weeks of pureed. Then one week of "soft" like cottage cheese, applesauce etc. THEN...week seven...normal foods as tolerated.

Updates on December 2015 Surgeries
@@kimb926, it's only been three days since your surgery! You're still in the "just starting" phase. I am surprised you're eating Protein shakes already? I had to have a week of Clear liquids right after surgery. I hope things start getting better for you soon!

Updates on December 2015 Surgeries
So how is everyone doing now that the surgery is over? I had mine Dec 1 and sometimes I have to pinch myself to remind myself that I DID IT! It's over! I'm on the OTHER SIDE now! That feels great. i'm doing everything I'm supposed to do and have dropped 22 pounds (including the pre-diet). i'm thrilled with that number. Every day the scale drops. What a fun way to start the day! My scars are healing and not really sore anymore. I do find that I'm more tired than I used to be. I am 61 years old, but have always had plenty of energy to get things done. I run around all the time doing errands and helping family members who need assistance. I have to pace myself. One problem I'm having is planning for "meals" or Snacks when I'm running around. I can't wait until I can eat a Protein bar...those are so mobile. But it's hard to take 2oz of yogurt or 1/2 c of creamed, strained Soup for lunch in the car! Oh well, these weeks will pass quickly. Tonight I tried pureeing cottage cheese because that is in my phase two "full liquids" weeks (week 2 and 3 for me). I added a little milk so it would puree better and ugh! That was disgusting. I'm not looking forward to the puree weeks (weeks 4 and 5). So how is everyone else doing? I'm doing fine getting the protein and Fluid in. I went to a christmas brunch this morning and there was quite a spread and....i hardly gave it a look. Didn't eat a thing, of course. Merry Christmas!

Post op
That was a long surgery! Mine lasted 70 minutes. It's been 11 days and I'm down 22 pounds (with pre diet loss included). Woohooo! I'm glad things are looking up for you, Mildred!

Gall bladder?
My dr chooses not to remove it. He said 1 in 4 have problems but 3 in 4 do not, so he doesn't feel he should routinely remove it during weight loss surgery.

Video of my 1 year progress!
You were beautiful before and you are beautiful afterwards. But your skinny body looks awesome now! Congratulations!

This is really happening
Your feelings as you approached surgery echoed mine EXACTLY! I had mine December 1. There are still moments when I have to pinch myself to remind myself that i actually did it and am on the other side! Let us know how it's going for you!

Are you COLDER after surgery?
I'm finding that i am much colder the past week since my surgery, and since I'm losing weight. I guess that only makes sense as the fat starts falling off. Are others experiencing that, too? I live in Chicagoland, so winter is approaching (although we've had a great season thus far!) and it will only get colder. I'm going to be in big trouble when it does! LOL
