  1. I saw the surgeon and NUT today again; i'm getting very excited! They said i COULD have some lean turkey, nonstarch veggie and one serving of carb on thanksgiving day besides my protein drink; yay! I start the ten day prediet on Nov. 21. I'm ready to do it! (At least i say that now as I'm enjoying eating regular food.)

    Change of plans..

At first I was thinking band, but after reading the negative reports on it, i was Roux-N-Y all the way! I have diabetes and it will be GONE. I have a nasty sweet tooth and the RNY will be a wonderful tool to help me with that compulsion. It IS considered the "gold standard" of bariatric surgery; it's been done the longest of all of the surgeries. Don't worry sassyfrass23! It will be ok!
  3. hello kirstykirst81 and everyone else... my prediet starts on November 20 I believe, ten days prior to Dec. 1. I am struggling; have GAINED weight, not lost, in the past couple of months. I think I'm freaking out about not being able to have loved foods anymore. I hope I can lose it all (about 8 lbs) and more on the pre-diet. I am also worried about that; but I plan to white-knuckle my way through! I may be on this site a LOT during those ten days!

    Ugh

How do i go about finding "DJMOHR's" posts?
  5. Thanks, LadyReyven. I have no doubt I'll be off immediately because my A1C is under 7 normally, and I have lower blood sugar numbers. When I lost 45 pounds with Weight Watchers in 2013, i was able to drop the pills for diabetes. But then...30 pounds have found me again and I'm back on metformin 2x a day. I was just tired of the up and down yo yo all my life...thus: RNY! I'm so happy for you with your meds. it must feel wonderful! Good luck! How has the journey been thus far? I do worry about complications (Dec 1 surgery) but I worry more about my emotional state, I think; not being able to run to my drug of choice: food. : (

My NUT said we can have the lower sugar instant oatmeal packets down the road (after six weeks). I'm still waiting on my surgery...Dec. 1....but reading all of your posts to get educated! Thanks.....

    Cream of wheat breakfast

We can have the lower sugar instant oatmeal with the different flavors according to our NUT, after we get past the first six weeks. My surgery date is Dec 1, so I'm reading, reading, reading, all of your posts to get educated! Thanks!
  8. Congratulations to all! I am diabetic, and i know i will probably be able to drop my two metformin a day shortly after surgery, which is December 1. I'm very excited about it all, and very scared about the surgery and adjusting to the new relationship with food...but i am excited....

    Ugh

I love this statement you made, Dub: People that continue to stay food focused are tormenting themselves. We gotta break loose and establish our own terms. Food is really not all that important. We no longer live to eat. It's a powerful feeling to reach that point. My surgery is Dec 1 (RNY) and I so want to get to that philosophy in my life!
  10. I'm December 1st in Woodstock, IL with Dr. Heydari! So excited (and scared)!!!
  11. I just got my date yesterday and it is DECEMBER 1st...Merry Christmas to me! I'm very excited and very apprehensive, like almost everyone else. But woohooo!

Will be 66 when having surgery

I just got my date: December 1. I'm 61, and very excited about this new "tool" I will have in my life-long weight struggle. But I'm also fearful of the surgery, complications, and my reliance on food for comfort. I think I'll struggle with the "head hunger" part of it. But i am excited!
