    Overnight Bag

I took a bunch of stuff and only opened up my bag for my toothbrush and hair brush.
  2. My weight always fluctuates. I'm always 3 - 5lbs heavier in the night than when I wake up. But this is a result of water weight and nothing I'd be alarmed about.

    11 months, 90 lbs! (Pics)

    Great work! You look fantastic!

    Need advise!

Does your current insurance require a psych eval? Or the program you are enrolled in? If either of them do, then a visit with a mental health professional should clear that all up. I'd be honest with them though if they ask you about it. Describe what changes you have made. Hope things go smoothly for you!

    Self Conscious....

I've always had the gym jitters. One of the decisions I made was to go in the morning. I found after work that those who made me feel the most uncomfortable (my fault, not theirs) came after work. I'd go in the morning as I always found there to be a more mature crowd there at 5:30am - this made me feel more comfortable until I started feeling more confident.

    Venting....

I find that people who are super judgmental of it truly have no idea what the process entails. I am thankful that I work with nurses and they totally understand the challenges we face and what we have to overcome to be successful with the surgery! What matters most is that you are making a decision that will greatly improve and impact your health - their opinions are moot.
  7. I wasn't given any instructions for sleeping. I did sleep with three pillows and probably at a 45 degree angle when I first came home. I was just more comfortable that way at first. I was sleeping on my side about a week after and last night (2.5 weeks out) I slept on my stomach with no issues.

Ice Chips, Ok or No No?

They gave me ice chips as soon as they brought me out of anesthesia, so I'd think you are fine. They even gave me a SF popsicle in the hospital. I was told by my dietician that extreme temps bother some people. It was more of a warning that it could make me feel nauseous but if I am good with it, then no problem.

    Loss first month

It has been about a month since I started my pre-op diet and 2.5 weeks since surgery. Since the beginning (meaning pre op diet), I have lost 46lbs!

    Gummy vitamins!?

I was told to take a chewable multi vit for my first month post surgery. I couldn't find a normal chewables ANYWHERE. I was just discussing this with my dietician yesterday and she said they are hard to find. I told her I was taking a gummy cause that's pretty much the market for chewables these days. She said that was fine. I chew them up really well and I haven't had any problems; I am 2.5 weeks out. At one month I will stop with those though and switch to my bariatric multi vit as instructed.
  13. I hear ya. I had the exact same thoughts. I was sleeved 2.5 weeks again; each day has gotten a bit better. I cried some tears of frustration on several occasions and still find myself wondering where I can find the light at the end of the frustration tunnel. But everyone who is much further along has been very reassuring and very positive about having no regrets. We just have to hang in there through these difficult parts
  14. I've noticed these are different stages for some. Per my post op schedule.... they are the same stage for me.
  15. I am in soft food now, been struggling a bit with it. Not really because of my sleeve, but more of my own fear. I've been having various soups, greek yogurt, SF applesauce... I tried oatmeal, that went poorly. I ended up in bed with some crazy nausea with that. I tried a baked potato last night and that went fine. Scrambled eggs have also been successful. Next week I hope to move on to some egg salad and chicken salad if I can increase my bravery levels I was sleeved on 6/10/15.

    Constipation

My doc has me take colace beginning immediately after surgery. I had diarrhea from it the first couple of days so I stopped taking it. But if you need movement, it sure worked for me! lol A little too well in my case!
  17. Yep, had the same thing from the gas. They warned me at the hospital I'd feel it in my chest so I didn't panic. I couldn't get mine to go away until I started walking. The nurse at the hospital told me to lie on my left side... not sure why, but it helped.
  18. I bought the products from my surgeon's clinic. I had to do a two week liquid diet: 4 shakes a day and Water. I hated their shakes so I switched to the Premier shakes. Doc said my liver looked great for surgery. I'd always advise speaking with your dietician/nutritionist first but the point of the surgery is to drop quick weight to shrink your liver. So I can't see why switching products would hurt if you are looking to just switch to a different shake. I was allowed to use any shake as long as it met certain requirements: under 200 calories, 25+ grams of Protein and low sugars and carbs. But again - it's always good to have the conversation with you doc or dietician. I lost 26lbs during this time period so it was well worth it.

    Advice needed! Clear Liquid diet.

I had clear liquid only for the first two days post op. I bought a clear liquid Protein powder from the weight loss clinic that I could put in Water to be able to get my protein... but my focus for those two days was the water because I was crazy thirsty. I didn't start my Protein shakes until my third day at home, they went down fine at that point. I use Premier Protein shakes. I was also only allowed 1 oz per hour for the first two days of clear liquid. Surgeon instructions can all be so different!
  20. Glad to hear that WL Warrior! I have started eating greek yogurt, applesauce, soups and had some scrambled eggs so far along with my shakes. I am happy at that right now. I tried oatmeal the other day... I ended up bed with nausea the rest of the day. Ugh.

    June Sleevers!

I was sleeved on June 10th. Hope things are going well for you!

    Pre op diet?

I had a full liquid pre-op diet for two weeks prior to surgery. The first two days were a challenge.... but as long as you follow it closely... by day 3, I wasn't even hungry anymore. I was having 4 Protein shakes a day and as much Water as I could muster. And a couple sugar free popsicles to have something to crunch every once in a while. I lost 26lbs in two weeks though, so it was worth it.
  23. You can do it! I am 5'7 and started at 371lbs (my surgery was only 2.5 weeks ago). My surgeon asked me my goal weight and I said I wanted to be under 200 but ideally 175. He told me that was completely realistic and he felt he could get me there in 6mos to a year. That is with the understanding that I need to follow his guidelines and exercise. Will the surgery alone get you there - I can't say for sure. But with the right mind set and commitment to the process... you can get anywhere you want to go!
  24. I am returning to work on Monday. They offer a lot of flexibility in that I can work from home as needed... though right now I am dying to spend some time out of the house! My energy is ok... at first, I was exhausted after taking a shower. Now I feel alright... I can tell my body is tired from the minimal calorie intake but I am getting through the days.
  25. I'm 5'7. I was 371 before pre op diet. 345 at surgery date (June 10th) and 325 today.
