I try not to step on the scale too much but each week the weight loss is different! Def. NOT a pound a day or half a pound a day. It is 1-2.5 lbs per week! Which is keeping me happy enough!! So chin up and weight down!!! Woohoo

A pound a day is NOT normal. I never lost at that rate and I lost a great deal of weight fairly quickly, am 2+ years out and maintaining for over a year.

Two-three pounds a WEEK is normal. Embrace your quick loss but don't get used to it. More importantly, do not mourn it when it stops and do NOT beat yourself up about it.

You are doing great. You will be doing great when you "only" lose 10 pounds a month. You will be doing great if you "only" lose 5-8 pounds a month. Any loss is better than a gain and even a gain from day to day is normal.

I agree with Treed. As long as you feel comfortable and not on meds, I think it's ok. I was driving 3 days after surgery.

Icandoalthingsthruchrist got a reaction from Nurse 52 in 6 Day Post-Op Update
Ok. I finally made it. My surgery was July 20th and I'm feeling pretty good. Glad that's over with. But I wasn't worried because I had a great surgeon (Dr. Hormuz Irani) and was cared for by a fabulous hospital staff (San Joaquin Hospital).
    Here's my perspective:
    Surgery Experience:
The worst of it was eliminating the air. Because they fill your new stomach pouch with air to check for leaks, the air still lingers in your system until you release it. So, when I got to my hospital room I started burping as much as I could.
The pain wasn't too bad. I didn't use my pain pump that much. But at least it was easily accessible if I needed it, so that was nice.
As far as activity, I started moving as soon as I felt well enough (about 1-2 hours after arriving in my hospital room). My biggest exercise mainly occurred when I went to the bathroom 20 billion times. Also, around my 5th-6th hour in the room, I said I wanted to get up and walk, so the Nurse's Assistant took me for a walk down the hallway. No kidding about moving around. You feel so much better if you start moving around as soon as possible. That's probably why I'm feeling so well now.
My 2nd day in the hospital, I had my swallow test around 9am. No problems there. So, I was able to progress to ice chips, 30 cc's of water/liquid. Everything went down with no problems. I was discharged at 4pm the same day.
    Home:
I must admit, my first day home was weird. That air residue was a stinker. I know this sounds gross, but releasing gas and burping was a huge help. I also had a little bit of pain on my left side. I wasn't worried because I knew my body was healing.
On day 2 and 3, I went for a 10 minute walk. That felt really good. Please remember to only do what you can tolerate.
It's day 6 at home and I'm feeling really good. I've lost 6 pounds since the day of my surgery. I'm so glad I made this decision to get the gastric sleeve surgery.
That's just a summary of my first week of gastric sleeve surgery.
Good luck to the rest of you who are embarking upon that gastric sleeve journey.

Premier Protein for me also. I like Jay Robb powder also that I get at The Vitamin Shoppe.
Just a side note, you cannot absorb more than 30g of Protein at a time so if you do a higher content one then split up the drink into two sessions.

Icandoalthingsthruchrist reacted to Justin Wiseman in 420 pounds gone forever! This is my journey...
My name is Justin Wiseman. I would love to share my story with you. I have been bigger than everyone around me for as long as I can remember. I have my report card from kindergarten and there in black ink under my weight is 100 lbs. Wow, 100 lbs at 5? All the doctors my mom took me to said I would grow out of it, but the only thing I grew out of was my pants. Well actually jogging pants because that was the only thing my mother could find to fit me. food was my world, it was my everything. It made me happy and took all the pain away. By the time I was in middle school I was over 250 pounds, and when I graduated high school I was over 400 pounds. After high school I pretty much stayed home. I hated leaving my house. After everything that I had been through I never wanted to feel humiliated again. By 25 I topped the scale at a massive 600 pounds, and at the age of 26 I was given only months to live. I was suffering from severe complications of cirrhosis of the liver, diabetes, sleep apnea, and high blood pressure. As I began planning my own funeral I had the ultimate “aha” moment and finally realized exactly what I was doing to myself. Desperate for one day of complete freedom before I died I began looking for options to shed the pounds. Being too big to be operated on I was left fighting the battle on my own until I was healthy enough to be cleared for surgery. Over six months I lost 130 pounds, and was actually healthy enough to be taken off several medications. I then had gastric sleeve surgery and over the course of two years I lost a total of 420 pounds. In the midst of the battle I made what I call my “Live IT List” kind of like a bucket list but my focus was on what I wanted to live for, not do before I died. With that my “Live IT List” was born and my desire to live was unstoppable. I got my one day of freedom plus a whole lifetime more. My focus has now shifted to helping others in similar situations along with doing my best to help eradicate childhood obesity. I was a child in the 80’s and the epidemic keeps growing. My story was extreme, but there are so many out there facing an even worse fate….death. I am the perfect example of what childhood obesity actually turns in to, and I have made it my mission to put a face on the cause. We hear a lot of statistics but people tend to overlook them, but if people asctually see what it turns into the impact is so much more. I feel like everything I went through was for a reason and if I can help save someone's life it was so worth it. I spend my days helping as many people as I can find their freedom and I really hope I one day get a chance to share my story with the world and throughout the schools. I am beyond excited and nervous for this new journey in my life but boy am I ready. No one in my family understands how happy I was to get that phone call today, it's like I've won the lottery. I still have to work the time off with my job so I don't have the date yet but within the next 30 days I hope :-). Happy in Tennessee...

I guess I should share my story of why I've chosen to have the gastric sleeve surgery.
Well, after being told that I developed high blood pressure, severe sleep apnea, and osteoarthritis (all a result of my weight gain) I thought it was time to deal with this weight problem. To be honest, if I had not acquired these conditions I would have never given bariatric surgery a thought. I felt I looked good and healthy, so end of story. Oh, but I was deceiving myself. Apparently my body is screaming for help and help is exactly what I need.
I know that bariatric surgery isn't the cure all. Exercise and a healthy diet are just as important. I've embraced this wholeheartedly. I just need that jump start to get me going on this journey to weight loss.
I'm an elementary teacher and need as much energy as I can get to keep up with my little darlings. So the weight must come off as soon as possible.
I want to take a Christian cruise and be healthy enough to move about when we arrive at the ports of the beautiful cities.
That's my brief story for now. ????
