  1. Happy 40th Birthday puggylady!

  2. I had a fill on 1/15 and it was fine. Recently I can't keep food in and am always slimming. Like lots of slime!!! And then up comes the food!! I am even having a hard time keeping liquids in. I recently really kicked my exercise program into high gear and been really losing inches and pounds. But now I'm losing energy too. I thinks its from not eating enough. I know some people's band gets looser as they lose inches and pounds and need more saline. But has anyone heard of it getting tighter with losing inches and weight? I swear it all started when I kicked into high gear at they gym. Help!!

    Buddy in Northern Cal wanted

Hi, I live in Manteca and had Higa do my lap band almost one year ago. My date was 1/15/08. I know what you are going through. I'm sure you are so nervous. If you would like chat or meet I'm up for it!!! You are with an AWESOME DR.!! ONE OF THE BEST. Your in truly good hands. What hospital?
  4. I was wondering. Does the band get more loose as you lose weight or does it get tighter?

    egg drop soup

I ate the egg drop soup on my 6th day after surgery. Oh my gosh!!!!! It too saved me. So yummy. It felt like I had some substance in my stomach. My Jello, broth, etc would go right through me and left me running to the potty. But the egg soup stopped that. I had a little bit more energy too. Just that tiny bit of protein did wonders. I also added chopped green onion, and mushrooms for added flavor. I just strained them off along with some of the large egg strings. I just had some again the other day. I'm 6 months post op. I think it is now my new comfort food. It reminded me of how far I have come!
  6. What does full feel like? Is it a different feeling from before surgery? I have had three fills and what I feel when I eat is pain and my mouth becomes full of water. I mean severe pain. I can't talk and it comes back up. Chicken is the worst! Sometimes I get the pain two bites into the meal or half way or almost done. There is no rhyme or reason to it. I feel like each meal is different. Is this pain the new full??? I sometimes feels like I swallowed a whole bunch of air.
  7. During my liquid stage post op I purchased the egg drop soup packette from the Asian food section at the grocery store. AWESOME!!!!! You add water and a beaten egg. I strained half of the egg in the soup. Just that little bit of egg strings in the soup tasted so so good and did not bother me. YUMMY!!

    Salt cravings

I thought It was just me. Ever since surgery I crave salty foods and salt my foods. I have never been one to crave salt and now I do. HMMMM????? Yes, you are right. It does make you swell. Summer heat does not help either.

    I need motivation!

Wow. I feel the same way you do. I was banded on 1/15 and have lost 30lbs. I feel it is going so slow!!!! I need to get the exercise thing down too. I just went to my dr. and only lost 4lbs in two months!!! I have been beating myself up so bad since yesterday. I feel like a big failure. I am so stressed out over my slow weight loss that I think I am stress eating. Does that make sense?

    Water...Lost Restriction?

I also feel like when I drink tons of water I too can eat more. Maybe its because water in the pouch causes food to be softer and passes through quicker than when we drink less???

    Fresno Dr. Higa anyone?

Dr. Higa did my surgery 1/15/08. He is an excellent Dr. and came highly recomended to me by another dr. who was denied by my insurance to do the surgery. Dr. Higa is very well respected in the medical world and does lots of training and lectures on weight loss surgery. I am very happy with him. He is really confident and knows what he is doing. All of the nurses at the hospitol told me I was having the very best dr. do my procedure. Another thing I like about him is his honesty. If you ask, he will answer!! Sometimes it's not what you want to hear, but he will be upfront all the time. A nurse from his office was always a phone call away post op. I had to call her three times the week after surgery with questions and was there to give advice.

    Horrifying First Fill

I have been filled four times. Two out of two were bad but so worth it. The other two were easy and the dr. got it on the first poke. I think he can find it better if you eat a meal right before the fill. It helps the port raise a bit toward the surface and make it easier to target. Everybody is different. A bit of pain and poking is really worth the weight loss to me.

    Restriction at Last!

I have a 10cc band w/ 3cc in it. I'm just now going for my fourth fill in the morning. It's slow to find the right fit for me. I'll take it though. The band it like getting a shoe to fit. Everyone has a different fit!!!
