I want to be able to:
Not worry about if a seat will hold me.
Go into any store to shop.
    Ride amusement park rides.
Not get winded after 1 flight of stairs.
    Run a 5k.
Go for a run and actually run.
Be able to bend over and tie my shoes or paint my toes without discomfort.
Be happy and confident in a wedding dress.
Not have to sit isle seat at games and events.
Not be ashamed when someone sits next to me on the bus.

My bucket list starts off fairly simple.
I want to be able to have kids before I get too old. I'm 38 now.
I want to fly and go places without worrying about..will I fit in seats, will they hold my weight?
I want to go out and get attention from people cos I look good..not because I'm fat, can hardly breath and take up too much room.
I want to feel confident and not give a hoot as to what folk think.
I want to go shop for clothes and chose what I want to wear rather than having to wear it cos it fits.

I'm going to assume you meant "threatened"? Anyway, this is a decision you have to make for yourself. Whether to have surgery, where to have it, and with which surgeon. You shouldn't let other people influence your decision. Thousands upon thousands of people have successful surgeries in Mexico every year. I've been to Mexico for surgery twice (once for plastics and once for VSG) and had incredibly positive experiences both times. All you can do is do the research, talk to past patients, and make the best decision for YOU, no one else.

Dr. Hidalgo in Puerto vallarta Mexico did mine in July. My BMI was 30 when I started my week long pre op diet so a little under for my actual surgery. I have been very happy with my surgeon, my easy recovery and my great results (my bmi is now at 23.5 "normal"!!)

Best thing I could have ever done for myself. I'm thrilled for the fact I no longer have to wear stretch waste band pants. Yay. I also can get around and do my own shopping. How are you doing??

    Let's get this party started!
I'm Alexis, from the New Jersey shore, sharing my house with a 5 year old Great Dane and two cats. I'll be 31 next month (August 18th for those inclined to give gifts ) and have been banded since February 3, 2003. I was banded in NYC at Lenox Hill Hospital by Dr. Marina Kurian. The hospital was great, Dr. Kurian is amazing, and my surgery went off without a hitch. I'm a restaurant manager and just love my job, as tiring as it is!
In October, I weighed 345lbs. Somehow managed to lose 25lbs before surgery, despite many, many last suppers at the likes of Wendy's and McDonald's. Yes, Virginia, I AM a fast food freak. Although, not so much anymore. As of my last doctor's visit on July 11, 2003, I weigh 259lbs. So, if you count from my highest weight, I've lost 86lbs. Went from a size 28 to a size 18 and I'm not nearly finished!
I just can't say how much this band has done for me. Simply put, it's given me my life back.

Remix got a reaction from BackToBeautiful in NEED A TRAVEL BUDDY FOR MY GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY????
I went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico alone this summer to get my surgery. I am from canada so it was a longer trip. My bf and sister both offered to come with me but I figured I'd rather go to mexico with them on holiday rather than for surgery. That way we can enjoy it together. I am hoping to return there after Christmas.
When my bf left me at airport security, I was scared. I almost turned back. It seemed like a crazy idea to be flying to mexico to get my stomach cut out. But that was literally the only time I was scared. After that, it was all excitement!! I couldn't believe I was so lucky as to have this new gift and was hopeful and excited for the future. So happy!
If you can't find a travel buddy, please try not to worry. You can do this!!

I am at a 2 week long stall so that is frustrating tho.

Every since I first started researching WLS I started reading tons and tons of boards and websites and groups on the subject. Watching Youtube video's and reading articles etc. Ive probably touched on every topic of information there is on the subject at one time or another in the last year or so. I have been a bit obsessed.
There are some things I see that bothers me. and that is how there are people that will try to do thier own thing and not follow the rules. Id say almost every day when I go to read my ussual websites and forums and groups, there is always a post from someone doing something that they shouldnt be doing.
"I ate crackers 4 days after surgery"
"Im eating boiled eggs 3 days after surgery"
"I got to have my alchohol so Im not giving that up"
"I pureed a cupcake...I'm in the pureed stage"
I don't do water" (which really annoys me...water has no taste, this is usually stubbornness)
I don't understand it. why would you spend all that money, spend all that time, the recovery, the pain, the uncomfortable moments, nausea, inconvenience to not follow the rules and try to make it work for you the best it can. Sometimes people just don't know better I get it. not everyone does the research and not everyone has good options as far as their nutritionist to help. But some do. they know better and but they want to do what they want to do anyway. I actually saw a post from someone on another forum...
"I didn't spend all this money to have to watch what I eat...if I wanted to do that I would've just lost weight the regular way"
I read stuff like that and wish there was a way to revoke that persons surgery and give it to someone else.
The bad thing about this thinking, as soon as a person say something silly, there are others that fall right in line. one persons bad behavior feeds that behavior to others. "Oh its alright to eat crackers 4 days after surgery? I'm gonna go buy some crackers now"
A lot of people say "talk to your NUT" which is good, but I don't believe there are a million different rules. I believe there is 1 set of rules, there is a right answer. if your NUT is telling you that fried chicken is OK 4 weeks out, YOUR NUT IS WRONG.
That was a long intro but here is what I wanted to share.
This is a article I saw earlier today that I thought was interesting.

Thanks to God, my surgeon, nurses, nutritionist, and my family for the blessings and support. In just 5 short months, my life has changed forever. No more medicine, no more pain, no more thinking about dying over thinking about living!

Anyone reading this that is considering surgery, feel free to reach out to me privately if you have questions or need support. Nothing about this surgery was easy and it was not anything I ever planned for, but by the grace of God and my team, I am a new man, father, and husband because of it!

When your pants no longer fit you and you have to rummage through the closet looking for old jeans so that you have something to wear that day and say to yourself that you have to go shopping on the weekend for clothes. Also when your hubby hugs you so tight all night long and won't let you leave the bed in the morning. Lol. I guess I'm not used to that attention. But it's a nice feeling.
