    A letter to yourself...

My surgeons office recommended the letter to my future self. It has been good to go back and re-read if I start having a rough day.
  2. Best decision of my life! Yesterday was my 9 month post op check in with the surgeons office. Everything is looking great and I have lost 132 pounds since surgery! My bmi is almost to being out of the obese range and I am about 45 pounds from my personal goal weight. My heaviest weight in 2011 was 376 My surgery weight in September 2015 was 319 My current weight is 187!!!! First picture is almost at my heaviest, then purple shirt is 11 days before surgery and black & white top is last week.

Aww, thank you. I have gone the low carb route. I only drink Water or the Vitamin water zero (I have done the water for a long time before surgery as well). I stick the the basic rules of eat Protein first then veggie then if any room carbs. Most days I end up at about 70 grams protein, 40 or less carbs, and about 800 calories. I do eat a bit of things I like here and there but I always count it in my numbers for the day and it's always just a bite. Congratulations on starting your journey with this. Your off to a great start!

You are kicking it !!!! You were wise to take action to get ahead of the issues before they started showing up. Very well done !!! Thanks Dub! I have had too many family members die way too young from weight related health issues that could have been prevented so I knew it was time to get this under control.
  6. Yes it is normal to go back and forth a bit. I researched and thought and prayed about doing something like this for years and was still having to not freak out and change my mind the morning of surgery. But I will say 9 months and 135 pounds later it was the BEST decision I have ever made. [emoji4] best of luck to you!
  7. Calcium or potassium may be the culprit as well. If I forget a calcium dose I get them.
  8. For me I work a desk job and I needed two weeks. I have a coworker who needed several weeks and I have heard of others who only needed a few days. It all depends on how fast you heal and tolerate nausea and pain. If it were me I'd go for the longer break to do it.

    Multivitamins

The problem with a lot of the regular multi vitamins is they don't have enough iron for a WLS person.

1 Week (4 Days Post Op) Gastric Sleeve

It will come off, try not to stress too much. You are carrying a lot of water right now from the IV from surgery. Many people carry it for a few days then have a sudden drop in the scale.

Thank you so much and congratulations on your success as well. You are absolutely right, this was one of the hardest things I have ever done. But I finally realized I was worth it and so I keep on working toward goal.

Thanks, I feel great. I didn't have a ton of issues before surgery but I do have a ton more energy and my knees and joints are all much happier these days! [emoji4]

    Need Some Motivation!

133 lbs in 9 months?! That is amazing!!! I am so happy for you. Thank you for sharing - this helped me get even more excited for my surgery! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Thank you. Just keep in mind everyone loses at different rates so when time comes try to not compare with others. I about made myself nuts doing that in the beginning and had to stop and just focus on doing what I knew to do. Best of luck to you!

    Need Some Motivation!

I was sleeved 9 months ago and have lost 133 pounds. I am 37 years old and feel like I've been given my life back. It is totally worth it to be able to have the help to get the appetite under control. I have so much energy and ability to go go go and get things done.

I actually cancelled my gym membership after having surgery because I was doing more at home then taking time to go to the gym anyway. I also found an app called sworkit where you can set up workouts based on if you want yoga, cardio etc and how long you have to exercise, it's pretty neat.

I have been doing the treadmill and I have some hand weights that I do a routine with in my living room on alternating days. I have also been taking the stairs at work and things like just parking further from the door wherever I go. I honestly haven't been like killing myself with exercise but have been doing 45 minutes to an hour of some type of movement about 5-6 days a week.

    Canned tuna v. Chicken

In my opinion the chicken is much more dry so hard to digest at first. The tuna and salmon are much more moist. I love the salmon in the pouch.
