    1200 calorie pre-op diet

I had no preop diet outside of clear liquids the day before surgery. Now I did adjust what I was eating and starting eating healthier on my own but nothing required. I was fine and have had no issues.

    Low carb products

A great alternative to pasta is spaghetti squash. Other alternatives are zucchini noodles or broccoli slaw to replace pasta. You can also take spaghetti squash and make crispy hash brown alternatives with it. I try to eat super low carb so IF I have room after my protein I will eat some veggies but since I'm not a big veggie fan I had to get creative with using the veggies as a starch replacement. I don't know where you are at but here at Publix grocery store they have Golden brand zucchini pancakes. They are not a regular pancake they are a savory veg side but they are really small and very good to go with my fish or chicken at dinner.

    Summer Reading

This may fit the bill but I am in need of a recommendation for a book based on a fairy tale for my 2016 reading challenge. Does anyone have any ideas off the top of your head? There are YA books called "The Land of Stories" I believe they are by Chris Koffer (the guy from Glee) and they are based off fairy tales.
  4. I have found if I sit up more with my back arched a bit it distributes my weight a bit different and helps some. Great job with your and your husbands weight loss!
  5. I was sleeved 8 months ago. I take two flintstones complete, one super b complex, two 500 mg bariatric advantage calcium chews, and biotin. I started a few months prior to surgery and I've had perfect labs.
  6. You dear lady are awesome! I love your posts and I totally relate to being the healthy fat person because thats what I was but I found that I was watching life go by more and more from the sidelines. So far I have gone from a 26/28 to a 14 so I still have around 50 more pounds to my goal but I always love seeing those that are ahead of me succeed.

    Summer Reading

For the fun of it I picked up this book called, "Dorothy must die". It's this crazy post wizard of oz story about a warped oz and Dorothy as a crazy ruler. It's not a kids book but it's fun all the same. I love a lot of Steven King books and along that same type of psychological thriller Ted Dekker is an excellent author.

What made you get a tat?

On my right shoulder I have a blue monarch butterfly that I got after I got out of an abusive marriage. A few years later I had three little butterflies in my kids favorite colors trailing behind the big one to represent each of my kids. I also have a Celtic shamrock on the inside of my left wrist in memory of my dad and his pride in our Irish heritage. I have two more that I plan to get, my mom has a specific way that she always signs cards to me and I want to get that by my shamrock and then when I get to goal weight I want to get a bird flying free from its cage because that it how I feel, like I've been set free after a lifetime of being caged in this weight.
  9. I would suggest that you get the requirements from your insurance in writing yourself before you go so that you know what they say you have to do. Some require a weight loss but some say if you lose a certain percentage then you can go without the surgery. For me I had to be careful to not lose too much or I would have been denied.

    Favorite Milestones So Far?

I had to add in another one that occurred this morning. For the first time in forever they used the normal size blood pressure cuff on me at the doctor without even hesitating to think if they need the big one or not!! I almost cried happy tears. [emoji23]
  11. Between my three teenagers, my somewhat needy husband and dog that's under my feet all the time I was glad for a day in the hospital to just be alone and let the nurses take care of me. Don't get me wrong I love my family but this was truly the first thing I have done for me since I was 19 years old and had my first child so it was good to be taken care of for a change and not dealing with anyone else.

    Favorite Milestones So Far?

Wearing clothes from the JR section. Seeing how proud my kids are of me. My daughter wrapping her arms all the way around me when she hugs me. My weight starting with the number 1 for the first time since middle school. Knowing that I can finally meet my goal of being a healthy weight for the first time in my life. The list could go on and on.

    Question about post op

Same, just needed my husband to drive me home.
  14. I wish I could but I too don't have the time or money. I did get to go to the WLSFA conference that was in Nashville a few weeks ago and it was so awesome to be around so many people that truly do understand what we go through and to know I was in a judgement free zone. It was a great experience.

    Tick tock

No not in mine. My husband and I have enough stress in other areas but this one he was great and fully supportive because he saw the impact my weight was having on my life. He has loved me at my heaviest and now at the lightest I've been since middle school.

I'm just going to leave this right here.

Lipstick lady, I love your posts and find you very amusing. So a bit about me: I didn't start college till I was in my early 20s with 3 young kids and was a single mom. I now have a Bachelors and two Masters degrees. After 9 years apart my marriage reconciled. I love animals but don't care a lot for having pets of my own (I know I'm weird). I had my kids very young and so now at 37 I am planning my daughters wedding that's happening in two weeks. I will be 42 when my youngest is legally an adult. I am not the greatest driver either, I've had some sort of wreck in every car I've ever owned with the exception of my current one (knock on wood). I work in higher education. I have worked really hard to make sure that i would never be in the position to have to rely on anyone else to support myself and my kids. Ever since I finished my last degree in 2014 and got remarried to my husband in 2013 I have been working to figure out really who I am because my identity was a single mom college student for many years. I guess that's about all I can think of at the moment. I remembered something else. I am also a reality TV junkie. I love like Amazing Race, Little People Big World, things like that and the TLC documentaries on various conditions that people live with.

    Anyone with a high BMI?

I am 5'5" and at my heaviest I was 376. I lost some before pursuing WLS and i was 319 at surgery. I had the sleeve done on 9/28/15 and I am down to 196.8 today. Top is at my heaviest then purple shirt is week of surgery and then last one is about a week ago. Edited to add in - sorry I just realized this was in the twenties forum, I am in my 30s but still had the high bmi etc to start with. Good luck to all!
  18. Still here, down 122.2 pounds since my 9/28 surgery.

What do you buy at Costco?

I don't have Costco, I have SAMs club but mostly same thing. I get baby bell light cheeses, roasted chicken, big packs of frozen chicken breast, premier protein shakes, lots of things.
  20. For me it's how much I can do and get done now. My house is cleaner then it's been in years and on the weekends I can't stand to just sit around and do nothing anymore. I want to get out and go all the time.

    Hard Boiled Eggs

Do you have Walmart or Kroger? I have seen them at both of those as well.
  22. Lol that is so something I would do! Too funny. Yeah I am forever trying to compare my size to others because from my all time heaviest weight till now I have lost like 177 pounds (122 since surgery) and I still don't see it unless I look at comparison pictures or look at myself in a reflection next to someone else.
  23. I started doing the vitamins, volume shampoo, and making sure to meet protein goals three months prior to surgery and I have had minimal loss. I am 8 months out at this point and the only difference in my hair is that it's a bit dry sometimes.
  24. I do not have a shred of regret. I am thankful everyday for this gift and truly feel like I've been given my life back.
