  1. I eat the light baby bell, light laughing cow, 2% cheddar, and all of the light sargento slices. I am a cheese addict. I'm just thankful I didn't end up not being able to eat cheese after surgery. I eat cheese daily but as others have said its small quantities at a time and I haven't been having any issues. I'm almost a month out and I've lost 26 lbs since pre-op.

    Skin Discoloration

I wonder if it may be due to the change in hormones as weight is being dropped. The hormone flux could throw off your body chemistry I would think and cause a reaction to gold.

    Ricotta and sauce?

Quantity depends on what your nut guidelines are. I actually found the ricotta bake easier to eat then most foods.

    Ricotta and sauce?

Typically between 1/4& 1/2 cup at the most.

    Ricotta and sauce?

Check out the ricotta bake from the world according to egg face blog. It's like 8oz ricotta, 1/2 cup Parmesan, 1/2 cup mozzarella, 1 egg, and Italian season to taste. Mix all but the mozzarella together and put into dish then top, with 1/2 cup sauce and top with mozzarella then bake till melty and bubbly. It is so good it makes several servings.

    So sick today

Yep, the posters above are right on target, it is from cutting the caffeine. I was one that would drink on average 64oz of coke or mt dew every day for years then about 3&1/2 years ago I went cold turkey. I felt horrible the first week or so but then once it was out of my system I felt great. I haven't had caffeine since.

    Extra skin in hands?

Are you getting in enough water? When people start getting dehydrated often the skin on their hands will get a bit loose.

    Food Intake

I was also sleeved on the 28th. At this point you really should be measuring everything and not going over 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup per meal at the most. I'm lucky to eat about two ounces of food a few times a day at the moment.

    Fish?

Be careful with swordfish if you are a woman of childbearing age, it can cause birth defects. I love talipia and swai they are both mild and easy to cook varying ways.

    Nutritionist

I feel like I knew more then mine, our first meeting was me explaining to her my plan of action for going through preop and her saying oh yeah those are good ideas. Then she has left the doctors practice then the new one didn't show up for my post op appointment with her. I'm suppose to go see the new one again next week so we will see how that goes.
  11. When I first started giving up fast food it was so hard. I was the one who ate fast food two to three times every day and washed it down with coke and Mountain Dew. I found that I had to have someone to be accountable to and I would talk to my sister on the phone while driving to work so that I wouldn't go through the drive thru in the mornings. It was so hard in the first few weeks because I'd literally be white knuckled as I held the steering wheel in tears as I fought to drive past and not pull in. Each day and each victory made it easier. I have not had any caffeinated soda in over three years and no sprite in several months. I went from fast food every day to never. Believe in yourself and you can make it.

    Waiting

What if you thin out the protein shakes you have with half shake and half skim milk so that it lowers the protein per serving?
  13. Why are you doing baby food? I did things like cottage cheese, blended tender chicken with cream of chicken soup, the ricotta bake (this can be found on the world according to egg face blog).
  14. Oh no, I'm so sorry that your having to play the waiting game. If they don't call back I'd go over in person to see what's up. I hope they get you taken care of soon.

    Constipation

I know it's not pleasant but the fleet brand has glycerin liquid suppositories that will open the gate so to speak.
  16. I am two weeks out today and had to come back to work today. I'm still a bit sore and tired and if I had the available time off work I would have liked to take another week. I will say that the difference for me between one week out and two weeks out was a huge improvement.

Severe heartburn 1 day post op

I open the capsules and put it in a a bite of applesauce to help it go down.
  18. Juices have a lot of carbs/sugars normally. I would not drink those and watch the sodium levels in the soups because that can make you retain water. Also are you getting in enough water?

    Surgery day!

Hope you have an easy procedure and recovery. Make sure you walk and sip as much as possible later after you get out of recovery. Good luck! ????

    Very Slow Recovery

I was sleeved 9/28 and my birthday was yesterday. I have researched for years any thought I was prepared for everything but I was still honestly surprised at how rough the first few weeks were mentally. I haven't had any complications and have been able to drink ok, but still not getting in near as much water in as I should. Today is also the first day I have been able to get to 60 grams of protein as well. Overall things truly have improved daily and it does get easier. I will say losing about 22 pounds in the two weeks since surgery and the one week preop has been great. I hope you were able to still find a way to enjoy your birthday and try to remember you will have many more birthdays due to having surgery to get healthy.
  21. I was just sleeved on 9/28. The only things I used at the hospital were my phone and toothbrush/toothpaste. My best recommendations are to be sure that you walk as much as possible after surgery to help with the pain and gas. If your hospital offers you an abdominal binder take advantage of it because it helps with pain so much in the first few days especially. Best of luck to you.
  22. I was told no red meat till 4 weeks out, same for broccoli and peppers because they are harder to digest and your new stomach will need to heal.
  23. The fair life milk is available at Kroger and walmart and it is regular milk but ultra filtered so it had less sugars and very high in protein for being just milk. You may want to try that if you can't do the protein shakes. Also there is isopure drinks that are like high protein Gatorade. They are available at the vitamin store or online at Amazon. Good luck to you.

    Gastric Sleeve 9/28/15

My dr had me on puréed as soon as I left the hospital and then at my one week moved me up to soft foods, I think that's why I'm having a hard time getting in the protein because I'm so full from just a few bites of food there's not enough time in the day to get in food, protein shakes, and water. It's getting a bit better each day but still was concerning to me to be so low.

    Gastric Sleeve 9/28/15

I am not a peanut butter fan but I have heard a lot of good things about the dehydrated peanut butter powder and that it is less fat/calories then regular peanut butter but adds protein and great flavor to shakes or what. I have ordered some unflavored Protein Powder that arrived yesterday so I'm gonna try to add that to my Greek yogurt and things today to get my protein up.
