    September Sleevers

I am just at six weeks post op. I was done at the end the very end of September. Highest weight 376 Surgery weight 319 Today's weight 282.4 Doing really well so far and feeling good. Finally feeling back to normal, a new normal but it's good. I didn't have any health issues really but by blood pressure was on verge of being high and now it's low end of normal. ????
  2. So you were not being technically supervised but had been doing this on your own? I have done weightwatchers and atkins but idk if doc will sign off on it or not Excited for you to be closer than I am to getting it done!!Yeah I had seen my doctor for other things off and on during the time frame that I was doing the weight watchers so she had no problem doing the letter and paperwork for the insurance company. I was approved and sleeved on 9/28/15. Hope everything works out for you!! So excited for you!! I hope things go well do you mind if we become friends so I can track your progress>>! I have BCBS too through the state. I think they require 1 year supervised but I am not sure yet. I'm not quite sure how the friends thing works on here cause I get on through the app on my phone but your welcome to friend me or whatever ????. I know BCBS can vary a bit in different states but mines through TN. From what I have heard most all BCBS plans want 180 days of the supervised diet. Have you called to check the requirements for your plan? I did that first and made them email it to me so I had it in writing.

  4. I have BCBS and I didn't start with my surgeon till July but because I had been doing weight watchers since February and my pcp signed off on my weight loss efforts it counted toward my 6 month requirements for my insurance.

    Protein Options

Kroger sells carb master milk in plain or chocolate. I got to where I had a hard time with the protein shakes too but I'm good with the carb master milk. I drink the chocolate one and it's like 60 or 80 calories and 11 grams of protein for 8 ounces.

    September surgeries!

I was sleeved 9/28/15. I struggle to get in enough calories to stay out of starvation mode but I'm doing ok hitting my Protein of 60 or more grams a day. I eat every morning one turkey sausage link, (almost) one egg and a tablespoon of shredded cheddar for breakfast. For morning snack a light baby bell cheese, lunch is 2oz of protein and a light laughing cow cheese wedge. I try to eat a light Greek yogurt for afternoon snack. dinner is about 2 oz of whatever protein I am making for my family for dinner. And if I haven't hit my protein for the day I'll have a cup of Kroger carb master chocolate milk (11grams protein in 8oz). I am trying to not do the protein shakes unless I have a really low day with food intake. I also can't eat more then just about the 2 oz at a time so that's why I have to do the Snacks in between. Some days I also will eat a cup of Smartlife light white cheddar popcorn for a snack. Even with the snacks and all most days I barley hit 600 calories. I track everything through my fitness pal.Thank you for sharing. Great info. What exactly is the amount to stay clear of starvation? I struggle to get in 400 to 500 calories daily unless I push to eat in between meals. My NUT said that at this point I should be between 600 & 800 calories a day to stay in weight loss mode and not hit starvation mode. That's why she suggested the popcorn or carbmaster milk.

    Backpage.com - umm. What?

As for turning off your phone at night most all phones have a night time setting where you can set certain numbers to ring through but any other number will be silent during designated hours. Mine will only ring for my immediate family and my alarm company from 9:30 pm till 8 am.

    Pureed foods struggle.

The little baby bell cheeses are allowed on that stage and were really good for me when I was on that stage.
  10. If they serve breakfast you could always get an omelet if your ok with eggs.

    Tennessee

Oh it sucks when insurance won't cover it. My last job wouldn't cover it and I found out after being at my current job for a year that I could finally have surgery. Best of luck to you, let us know how everything goes for you!

What the heck does this mean?!

I wonder if they want to do a new pain method for you that they did to me, I had to contact my insurance about covering it but it was in the pre op room they did a procedure that was almost like an epidural in my abdomen to block the pain before I even went in the OR. It was considered optional but I let them do it then my insurance tried to deny that part of the claim until I contacted them about it and now they paid it.

    Puréed

As was said above I think it would have to be a regular thing to stretch the stomach. Next time only make yourself one egg and add a little cheese to it to add a touch of volume and more protein. You will be surprised how filling that may be to you. I'm just over a month out and can barley finish one egg with a tablespoon of shredded cheddar on it.
  15. I was on clear liquids for the one day in the hospital then purée for the first week then soft foods week two then at one month no restrictions other then volume/size of meals. In the soft food stage I had the ok to eat lean ground meat if I could tolerate it. I'm just over a month out now and the only problem I've had is if I eat too fast. I've had zero complications and never thrown up yet. As of today I've lost 29.5 pounds.

    Sleeve now!

Everyone's results are going to be different and based on if they stick to the plan that their dr puts them on. That being said I'm not very far out from being sleeved (was sleeved 9/29) but I'm down 28 lbs from my preop visit. ????.

    Hotdogs

The Hebrew national hot dogs are better on calories etc then most others.
  19. I was sleeved a month ago and pre op I loved lemon and sour things, now I can't stand them. I tried the lemon aid drops for water and it was so bad. I also can't tolerate barbecue sauce or a few other old favorites.
  20. I like the pre cooked frozen grilled chicken breast. It's diced up so its easy to measure out a small portion and heats up in like 45 seconds in the microwave. It's pretty moist and tender and has a very good flavor. Tyson has it out but also if you shop at Aldi's they have their own brand that I like better then the Tyson one.

    Happy birthday to me

Yep, I was sleeved on sept 28 and my birthday was shortly there after on October 10. We did go out for my birthday because I was cleared for soft meats cheese etc and so I ordered a single chicken taco with cheese and only ate half the meat. My part of our family's bill was under two dollars. ????

Looking for a crispy little snack?

I just ran the zucchini/parm crisps through my fitness pal and it says 171 calories, 11 g fat, 2g carb, and 15 G protein for half the batch. I will have to try these, great idea!!
