I went through those same feelings and fears when I was first looking to get rid of clothes and it has been an amazing and freeing feeling to actually get rid of the clothes now. As I lose I have been purging my closet on a regular basis now because I had to learn to have the confidence in myself that I am not going to go back. I did not go through with all this just to fall back into what I was before. [emoji4]

How Is This Possible?
reree6898 replied to bdfletch's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is almost word for word what I was going to say. My Drs scale is about 8lbs higher then mine at home. Since I weigh daily at home same time etc that is the weight I go by. [emoji4] -
When asked I just say I'm eating a whole lot less and moving a whole lot more which is the truth. [emoji6]

I am 5 months out and have right at 650 calories a day normally.
-
On the left was a few weeks after surgery, still around 300 then, on the right was taken a few weeks ago and I'm down 88 pounds so far. I am right at five months out from being sleeved.

Phantom Fat/Body Dysmorphia
reree6898 replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Interesting article. I am already having a hard time with this. I was 376 at my heaviest, 319 at surgery and hit 230 today and when I look down at myself or look in the mirror I still see the same rolls and huge legs. I only see a difference when I look at side by side comparison pictures. I feel better physically and I know I am different because I have had to go from a 26 to an 16/18 in clothes but I keep wondering when I am going to feel better about how I look and how I see myself. -
Feeling Discouraged, needing encouragement
reree6898 replied to cassidylynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't be discouraged, you are doing great! Think about it, that's average of 22 lbs a month! Great job!! And yes high numbers one week and low the next is normal, weight loss has ups and downs so try to take measurements and pictures so that you can see the changes in your body and not just the number on the scale. -
You know you lost weight when
reree6898 replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
When you put your clothes in the drier on high heat hoping they will shrink so you can get some more wear out of them! [emoji4]. True story my new jeans are too big after only having them less then a month!! -
I watched biggest loser when it first came out years ago but I haven't watched it in a long time. The way they do things on that show are just not realistic to maintain when the people return to their real life. A few years ago they did a follow up show to check in on former contestants and many had regained their weight. It was the only time I've seen them do a follow up episode. I found one former contestant on you tube who had regained her weight then went on to have great success with getting the sleeve done.

Like those above said everyone is different. For me I am almost 5 months out and have lost 85lbs now. I did start a bit heavier then most women as I was 319 at surgery. I did not hit any real stalls until just the last week or so things have slowed down but still moving.

Sounds like your getting what people refer to as slimes, or slimies. Basically the stomach is trying to coat the food to get it to process through and some of the coating backs up in the throat. At three weeks out are you on mushy food or what eating stage? You may need to back up a stage for a few days then try again.

not enough sick time to cover sleeve, advise please
reree6898 replied to NYdad's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I work a desk job and came back after two weeks. I have a co-worker that had it done and she was out six weeks and she was amazed that I was back to work so soon. It's hard to say what will work for you because everyone is very different. As others mentioned see about FMLA if you can that way your not in danger of losing your job if you need extra time. -

One question, in the old version we had the option to see threads we participated in. I'm not seeing that in the new version. Are they in the subscribed link? -
I eat the Walmart brand, great value, light Greek yogurt. The banana cream is really good and has 90 calories, 0 fat, 9 carbs, 7 sugar, and 12 protein. I eat one just about every day.

Bless you heart, I hate that for you. I know how miserable living with that can be.

Wondering if I'll be successful
reree6898 replied to lovemyself86's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would just suggest that you be cautious of the carbs in the sugar free ice cream, mashed potatoes, and the Cheetos that you mentioned. This is just me but I try to avoid almost all carbs unless they are from fruit vegetables or limited whole grains. I lose faster when I don't eat many carbs at all. Also with as early out as you still are you need to focus on the protein first and not waste space in your stomach with the carb items. If you stick to it you can be successful. -
I had horrible IBS - D issues for years before surgery. It was to the point where I would have what I called bad stomach days at least five days a week if not every day of the week. It was truly controlling my life and I couldn't ever enjoy going out with my family or friends to dinner and a movie or what because I was miserable no matter what I ate. Since surgery (9/28/15) I have only had maybe two bad stomach days and they were not even as bad as my best day was pre op. So for me that part alone has been a miracle and has brought me a whole new ability to enjoy life.

Before And After Gastric Sleeve Surgery Photos
reree6898 replied to StacyS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You give me hope! I was in a 26 and 319 at surgery, I am 4 months out and 80lbs down so far. This was a few weeks after surgery then a week ago. -
You have a good point, for a lot of people it is a slider food. I measure mine out in one cup portions into ziplock bags and never eat more then that in a day. That is 1/4 serving of the kind I buy. For me though I have pretty tight restriction and I can't even finish the cup most of the time when I eat just a tough of protein with it (baby bell light cheese).
-
My nut recommended popcorn to me as a snack. So I eat a light baby bell cheese with one cup of smart food light popcorn almost every day. That way I get the protein with it and I'm only eating 1/4 serving of the popcorn.
