Not drinking enough water...but I'm not thirsty
reree6898 replied to Foxy_lady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, me too. Before surgery I drank around a gallon a day of just plain water. I had given up sodas and sugary drinks a few years ago. I am just over six months out from being sleeved and now I'm lucky to get in 40-50 ounces a day and that's when I have to keep reminding myself to drink my water cause I'm just not thirsty. -
Jenny, I had sleeve just over six months ago and prior to surgery I had knee pain, back pain, planter facetious, ibsd, and borderline high blood pressure. Everything has been resolved and I am virtually pain free at this point and I have been ever since losing the first 50-60 pounds or so a few months ago. I hope the best for you!

I have ate one cup of smart food delight popcorn (35 cals) almost every day since I was about two months out with my NUTS blessing.

I have found a set of mini Tupperware type bowls, they are like 1&1/2 inches round with lids that go on them and I fill up one for each day once a week, then every morning I just grab one that's full and that way I keep up with all the vitamins for each day. They are just big enough to fit the calcium chews and the other vitamins. I found mine at the dollar tree.

I don't do the nutria sweet and I found the Kroger store brand sugar free is made with Splenda instead. They are good, my kids like them even.

What happens if you start puréed diet a day or two early?
reree6898 replied to KLSUMM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone's program is different but I was on puréed the day I went home from the hospital. I only was on liquids for one day and even then they gave me meds crushed in applesauce while in the hospital. Check with your dr or nut. -
Feeling like a fraud in the "misses" clothes section
reree6898 replied to Josey Quinn's topic in The Gals' Room
Yep, I have bought a few things from the jr section and was in shock and awe the first time I got something there and knew it fit. I have not been this size really since around middle school. I too felt like I was waiting for someone to tell me I was in the wrong section since I had been a size 24/26 for the last 20 years or so. -
I have been shopping at Burks, Ross, and even found a few things at Walmart for new clothes that are priced about the same as goodwill.

Today marks six months out from surgery for me. I feel like I've been given a second chance at life! I feel better then I can ever remember feeling in a long time. I am six months out today and have lost 101 lbs from my surgery weight! The first pic is from about two weeks pre op and the second was from yesterday. I still have a ways to go to get to my goal but I feel like I can actually accomplish my goal now!

Caloric intake @ Stage 2
reree6898 replied to LMSWNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Only your NUT can give you the answer for your program. For me I am at six months out and just checked up with my NUT and she said I am right on target eating between 700&900 calories at this point and that I should stay in this range till I'm closer to a year out. -
Need Lunch Box Recommendations :)
reree6898 replied to JennsJourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found an insulated bag with a zipper top for three bucks at Ross. It has been the best lunch bag I've had. -
I was on the omeprazole 20 in a.m. And 40 in p.m. And was still having issues at six months out. Dr switched me to Nexium 40 mg at night and problem was resolved. If taking it at night don't help you may need to change meds.

6 months weigh in appointments with nutritionist or PCP ?
reree6898 replied to Abrandnewlife's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'd suggest contacting your insurance directly to get in writing their requirements. Most say the six month weight loss can't be done with the surgeon and must be done with your pcp -

reree6898 replied to FeelingFancy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Today marks six months out for me from surgery and two days ago I hit 101 lbs down from my surgery weight!! I still have a ways to go to get to my personal goal weight but for the first time in my life I finally feel that I can make it to that goal. The first pic is from I think two weeks pre op and the second was yesterday dressed up for Easter. -

A magnesium supplement may help with the leg issue. Great job on your loss! -
They told me that they want six full months of documented weight loss effort so to be sure that there was no way for them to deny me we did a seventh visit because the first visit was day one of the six months.

I have BCBSTN as well, when I got started I had them email me the requirements so that I had it straight from them in writing just in case. I too went through Vanderbilt, Dr Spann is wonderful. I was done six months ago and right at 100 lbs lost since surgery. Good luck to you both!

Longevity Studies: WLS versus not
reree6898 replied to CowgirlJane's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
In my family too the obese folks have died much younger then the thinner more active ones. My father at 54, my aunt at 57, my uncle at 32, the list goes on and on and they were all obese and it led to all the usual issues, diabetes, heart failure etc. -

Fitting in Exercise
reree6898 replied to Author Andrea's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a hard time with exercise in the beginning but I had to make the choice to get up and going. I didn't really do much but walk a little here and there for the first three months after surgery. Then over the last three months I have gotten to where I exercise six days a week and if I don't my body misses it. Additionally I lose more when I exercise on a regular basis.
