    Eating disorders and Gastric sleeve

I am glad to see you are going about this the right way and getting your head in the right place to prepare. I totally agree fast food addiction is real. When I hit my heaviest back in 2011 (376pounds) I was totally addicted to fast food. In 2012 I joined a gym and committed to quitting caffeine and fast food. I was one who would eat fast food 1-3 times a day. The first several days I was literally white knuckles on my steering wheel in tears as I drove past McDonald's on my way to work and refused to drive in. It was so hard but got easier over time. I lost some weight but never could get my body to reset below around 280 ish. I gained back some weight and finally last year after much research and prayer had my sleeve done. I am now at 198.8 and still loosing. I am so grateful that I got my head in the right place before surgery as well. Good luck to you!
  2. Oh also this one is not a physical thing but people talk to you more. At my all time heaviest weight I was a 376 pound invisible woman. Now I am 198.8 and people talk to me in passing or in line at the store or walking down the sidewalk. People acknowledge me and hold open doors way more often these days.
  3. Mine does this too. It gives some message about check back in your subscribed discussions.

    Your a good man okcpirate.
  5. The whole sore back side thing, I had heard other people say it would happen but oh my gosh, my tailbone kills me most of the time!!
  6. I am not Mexican however I grew up eating like crap, tons of fast food and soda and junk food galore. My mom would open all kinds of processed food for dinner and the idea of making it "healthy" was to add a side salad to whatever was served. I grew up literally addicted to sugar, grease, and caffeine. I had to just get to the point where I realized that I am worth making the choice to eat better and eat lean meats and vegetables and turn away from the rest. I say I went through a detox period where I truly went through withdrawals from the caffeine and sugar but once I was past it I have done very well in my opinion by losing right at 120 lbs now in just about 8 months. Mexican food is my favorite and like others have said just modify the way you eat things and avoid most of the carb heavy items.

    Eating out

My favorite is to go to a Mexican restaurant and I order one chicken soft taco on a corn tortilla off the a la cart menu. It's perfect size and I just get the chicken and cheese on it. I eat what I want of it, normally around half, then let them take it away. Much less waste and only a few dollars on the bill! [emoji6]

Help : scared I'm going to puke

Sometimes you just have to wait it out, you can also dissolve a bit of meat tenderizer in some warm water and drink it to help the meat go down.
  10. Yesterday marked my 8 month surgery anniversary and I have gone from 319 pounds on surgery day to 200.6 pounds this morning! The picture on the left was right around surgery time and on the right was this morning. It's a lot of hard work but so worth it! I feel like I've been given my life back!
  11. Thank you, I still have about 50 pounds to go but I am proud of my progress and thankful for this gift I've been given.
  12. I love my fitness pal. You can track everything there, all nutrition, water, weight, etc. and it's not only an app but you can access through the web as well.

    Nice Haircut!

People keep asking me if I colored my hair or cut it when I've had it the same color and cut for a few years now. I have lost 115 lbs and gone from a 26 to a 14 in size.

Net carbs vs actual carbs ....

There will be a lot of people on both sides of this and the thing to do is find what works for you. For me I count total carbs and keep below 25 for the most part.
  15. Thank you I'm sure you will do great. Just stick to your program.
  16. While you may need to give it up for a while you may not have to forever. This is just me but I am almost 8 months out and I eat 1-2 measured cups of smart life light popcorn everyday. I lose pretty consistently and for me it's not a slider food, I do eat a bit of cheese for Protein with it because I never eat anything unless I have protein. I have lost 115lbs so far. Now I will say if having a bit of popcorn for you opens the door to overindulge then it's probably best to stay away from it. For me I am good with a measured out bit to satisfy that crunchy desire.
  17. I was high BMI and had no health issues and was approved within a few days of submitting to my insurance.

BMI calculator is a real *******

My doctor even said the BMI scale is crap. The goal weight they set for me is still in the overweight category (170). My goal is to get to about 150ish but we will see how I feel both physically and mentally when I get a bit closer and go from there. I'm currently 34 lbs from Drs goal weight.
  19. Regular yogurt yes but Greek yogurt no for me anyway. Its high in protein and thick. The ones I eat are within the sugar & carb guidelines set out by my NUT.
  20. I am almost 8 months out. I weigh or measure everything. I eat 3-4 ounces total max per meal between protein then veggies if there's room. Breakfast is typically less then that. I can eat a 4-5 ounce Greek yogurt most days for an afternoon snack but there are days when I'm done at about half. It seems to be pretty normal for sleeved people to have slight variances from day to day on amounts that can be eaten.

You want to take health advise from Coke?

I was addicted to Coke and mt dew for many years. I quit them cold turkey a few years before my surgery. After going through the horrible withdraws from it I swore I'd never go back to drinking them again and so I have not had them since May 2012. I have pretty much only drank water and vitamin water zero since then.
