    Best friend totally unsupportive.

My father-in-law wasn't on board. He cried, said he didn't want me to die on table during surgery, just genuine fear. Losing 140 lbs changed his mind. His sister has gotten surgery done and he's on her about doing things right cause he's seen it. I think for most people it's the fear of major surgery? Or fear of something bad happening. Idk. But you gotta do you! I wouldn't be where i am today if I always listened to my family. And they wouldn't see the success it can be either! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J320AZ using the BariatricPal App

    Fell off the wagon

I am one year out and got down to goal weight comfortably but due to work and the stress there and anxiety - I feel like I'm just not eating healthy. I know I'm making bad choices but I can't help it. The high pressure and stress... i relate to feeling like a failure. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J320AZ using the BariatricPal App

    Day 2

Small sips! I remember just feeling uncomfortable, not pain. That's usually when I stop. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J320AZ using the BariatricPal App
  4. I wear spanx on occasion, I chose the size bigger than I am just so it doesn't restrict the organs or what not. I regret not starting it as soon as i could though, soooooooo much skin ???????? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J320AZ using the BariatricPal App
  5. Skin is my issue now having lost so much so fast. Hopefully I'm young enough for it to tighten up over time! ???? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J320AZ using the BariatricPal App
  6. I was sleeved on the 26th, starting weight 280, op day weight 222, goal weight 150, current weight 145. I'm a sous chef at a marina and I sweat all day long in an 80-90 degree kitchen, I am moving [all day long] in a two story building. I drink more than the minimum amount of Water needed (because I am sweating, I need to replace that). I put inventory up, (yes up a set of stairs, we call it "leg day"... we have 3 of them a week minimum) and this is just things off the top of my head as to what I do in a day's work. Oh and 12 hour days, 5-6 days a week sometimes 7 if someone calls out. I bring greek yogurt, Protein bars, I make sure to hit my protein count etc. I've cut my hair, gotten a new tattoo (already had a few), and have to make an effort to not shop for myself now that I'm in my dream size. I did everything the way my doctors program laid out for me and I reached the goal they set for me. I'm extremely happy with the decision to have this surgery and I am never looking back!!!! October List of Surgery's

You guys... Its a bit of a story but I need some support. I've reached goal weight. I'm happier than ever. My friend and whom I thought was my support system when I needed her... Just recently saw me. Told me I looked anorexic. I'm freaking out. She had her surgery 8 months before I did. Different doctor and all. She hasn't reached her goal weight and has a lot of dumping due to bad eating habits. Why am I so concerned about what she says when I'm succeeding and she even said she was jealous... Am I wrong? 10. So today, just a few days before my 1 year anniversary of STARTING my program I've reached my goal weight! I started at 280lbs. I'm at 150lbs. Lost 60 of it before surgery! You guys this feels amazing. Size 24/26 to an 8. Sent from my LG-H634 using the BariatricPal App
  11. We've been told by our doctors what is necessary to cover their side in case something negative happens post-op. (They did "everything" they could....). With that in mind, sodas or fizzies weren't good for us to begin with. It's empty calories. Yeah it tastes amazing. But it's plain not good for our bodies, before or after surgery. My friend had her surgery 8 months before I had mine. She started drinking sodas 8 days post op, among other habits most of us should frown upon. I'm 4 lbs away from my goal, she's 50 lbs away. So bad choices lead to bad results. Right? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using the BariatricPal App

    Questions about surgery

And YES the more you walk the easier it gets. I walked probably every 3 hours at the hospital and it made things so much easier! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using the BariatricPal App

    Questions about surgery

My hair didn't start falling out heavy until 3 months post surgery. I had the sleeve, I've lost about 63lbs since surgery. 117 altogether. Count on hair to fall out, but be READY. Take your Vitamins religiously, keep up with Protein and water! I had one drainage tube, it didn't bother me until the day it had to be removed (1 week post op), hurt like hell. But I don't even think about it now, one moment of pain to be healthier? Hell yes. I think i threw up once maybe twice within first few days of being home from hospital. Drank my liquids slower and it stopped. Gas pain... I honestly don't remember it, I burped alot in the beginning, not so much passing gas. But going to restroom and passed gas when I expected to do so much worse lol but it relieved so much tension in abdomen area so I wouldn't be afraid of it. I got nervous, but if you put your mind to it, you can get through this and be a few months out and giving advice of how your experience went. I found so much solace in posts here just before my surgery. God bless! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using the BariatricPal App

    October List of Surgery's

Surgery date was October 26 2015. Starting weight 280, surgery day weight 222. Today I'm at 169.3, meaning I'm only 9 lbs away from goal weight suggested by surgeon. I'm so excited! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using the BariatricPal App
  15. My name is Stephanie, 25 years old. Been in the food industry since I was 16. I grew up with food and the idea that you had to clean your plate before you got up from table. It was insane how much I ate in general. I got to 280 lbs before I made changes. I went to UTMB bariatric program and was blown away by how ready I was. They really prepared me for it with their 3 month program (that turned into 5 months because I had to wait to save up the money for surgery). I lost 58 lbs before surgery. With a one pre-surgery diet day of inconvenient bathroom breaks, I felt it gave me less time to rethink/reconsider the surgery. I went into surgery at 222lbs. I joined a gym that allowed for my hours of working out at midnight. I went from couch potato to 6 days a week at the gym for an hour even after a crazy dinner service. See first photo, I was one of most active members of the gym for its first month! Today I'm a close to 4 months out, and I weigh 168lbs. I cried today when I bought jeans, and was able to buy a 13, in JUNIORS! I used to wear a 24/26. I cried. I can't tell you how much I love the surgery for giving me the opportunity to be a better me!
