    Menu help

For lunch I usually do tuna salad that I make (light mayo, dill and lemon juice) with 2 saltines. It fills me up. I have also tried chili and drain the liquid. For dinner, I have had grilled salmon and grilled zucchini (cut the seeds away), turkey meatloaf (was a tad dry so used ketchup), my FAVORITE, baked avocado with an egg in the hole where the pit was. Top with a sprinkle of cheddar cheese bake at 425 for 15-20 min. It is amazing!!! Tomorrow I am making spaghetti squash as a pasts replacement with some marinara and cheese. If you look on the recipe forum you will find lots of "mushy" recipes! good luck and enjoy!!

    Puréed Food Stage

I have not blended anything, I just chew, chew, chew. My NUT told me to chew until it is the consistency of applesauce. It's a really tough habit when I am so used to chewing 2 or 3 times and swallowing. I have made the mistake once or twice when I wasn't paying attention. I suffered dearly! I didn't get sick, but it sat like a rock at my esophagus level.

    Puréed Food Stage

I have a scrambled egg or cottage cheese and unsweetened applesauce for Breakfast, lunch is normally tuna salad and 2 saltines (they instantly dissolve so they go down very easily), and dinner I have had grilled salmon, turkey meatloaf (this one hurt because it was a bit dry so it hurt to eat and I couldn't' get it mushy enough). Last night I had Maryland crab soup and drained the broth and removed the corn kernels. I also was able to pick the meat from 2 small crabs and had that at lunch. I'm finding I can convert most anything mush (except steak). The biggest problem is when I cook for the family, the leftovers now are enough for me to eat for a month lol. I need to learn to cook less now

How do you know you're full?

I am on my second week of "mushy" foods and I have two distinct signs, 1) the hiccup or burp. I will hiccup hard twice quickly. That is my que to stop. 2) just before the hiccup, almost as a pre-warning, my nose will start to run. I can't explain it, but I have learned quickly to listen to my body. When I was on liquids, I had no problems getting 60-80 g of Protein by basically sipping Protein drinks all day and I never really ever felt "full". As soon as I started the mushy foods, a few bites in I would start to get that feeling. 3-4 Tablespoons of food really does fill you up! Good luck!!
