  1. Hi All I have a surgery date of July 23rd 15 , which makes 30 days today until I go under the knife! What concerns me most is how much of a mental thing the pre-op diet is. I have been on/off diets all year with my only success in January, when I did 28 days of Protein shakes only (its a diet called EXANTE here in the UK). Since then it has been an absolute struggle to do anything, hence the decision for surgery. Yesterday was supposed to be the start of the pre-op diet (which I have been told I only need to do for 7-10 days before, but wanted to make a good start). However, I ended up feeling hungry and then went into an overeat mode in the evening, sigh. I have woken up very early this morning with load rushing through my head, and I am now thinking that as I am paying £9000 out of my own pocket, I should really make a better effort. So my question is, what do I do? Stick to my 1000kcals a day and suck up the hunger Return to the Protein shake diet which is really hard, but will give the best start to my surgery Don't worry about the pre-op diet until 7-10 days before my op I don't want an out, so I am not looking for all you nice people to say "Go for 3", I am looking to you guys that were or are in the same position to me to let me know what you did, why you did it and what motivated you. Thanks all.

    July Sleever

July 23rd for me. I am in the UK, so will be interesting to see how we all differ with follow ups. I just got my official letter in the post today (with the bill which is the nasty bit), so it is feeling like its just around the corner. 5 weeks to day and counting!

6 Months since my Op. An update on my journey

@@willow13 Thank you for this. I looked into the surgery back in March 2015, and ummed and aaahed and then decided no I could do this on my own. Surprise surprise I am now nearly 1 stone heavier. I was successful at LighterLife a few years ago, but could not maintain it without constantly returning to packs and then a couple of years ago went through a very stressful period in my personal life. That just caused all my success to go back on. Packs are now something that I can't face. So last week I decided, surgery is my only answer to getting the help. I saw the surgeon 3 days after I made the decision and luckily have managed to get in on 23rd July. So 5 weeks today, I will be waking up after a life changing operation. I am sacred, I am nervous, I am worried that it will be the biggest mistake of my life. Yet with all these fears, I know that this is my last chance at a slimmer life. I am 41 and have children who are in junior school and I want to see my babies grow up with a mother that can do everything they want her too, instead of sitting on the side lines. So, 5 weeks and counting!

Anyone from Bristol or Essex in UK?

MaggieMay Thank you so much for this feedback. I am not asking for a magic wand in the Sleeve Surgery, but I just wanted to know when I came out the otherside that life around food will still be enjoyable. This has made my day. I have also just noticed our Stats are similar. I am also 5'10 and have around 120lbs to lose. I shall be very interested in following your progress. As I am new to the site, is there somewhere you have tracked your journey?

I am OK with the shakes, I did Lighter Life and Exante before, and knowing that it is a must will see me through. Eating puree'd food is a bit minging though, so I will need to talk with the dietician about whether I can just live on Heinz tomato Soup and Yogurts haha I am really nervous though. Scared it wont work, scared it will work so well that eating will be something I dread. Crazy eh

Mine is 23rd July with Chris Wong, who is your Surgeon Chris? Also, I was told by Mr Wong, that you can use SlimFast if you have them, but don't necessarily go out an buy any.

    Water with meals ?

Just to follow on from this, is the Water restriction in the beginning, or is it a long term thing. Basically what I am asking is will I never be able to have a drink with my meal again? Sorry if this is an obvious question, just getting used to forum :/

Hi. I am new and getting sleeved on in July 2015. MY Surgeon is Chris Wong in Bristol. I am a little scared about this as it is only recently I have ever though about having surgery after many years of failed dieting. Can I ask a silly question, post surgery will I ever be able to enjoy a kids meal and a drink, or will it be a choice between one or the other? I am scared that eating out will be a situation I will avoid in future. Obviously I know that my portion size will be tiny, but if I have to choose between have a couple of (non-alcoholic, non-fizzy drinks) and a small meal, I think I may struggle. Also, are there any sleever "in real life" meetings. I am from nr Bristol and would love to catch up with people that are in the same boat. If there is ANY information you think I should know, good and bad, please let me know.
