hockeyfan7 got a reaction from coyoteugly5 in HELP! WHAT IS THE CARB LIMIT?
I think it's definitely different for everyone. I have found that if I eat any carbs that do not come from veggies and fruit the scale goes up. So I have to stick to Proteins with non-starchy veggies and i have a small serving of fruit once a day in the mornings.

I was sleeved on the same day and I take Celexa. I've also had a slow weight loss. I don't know if it's related or not. But the alternative is not pretty. Without the Celexa I want to go out and stomp on baby squirrel heads and do nothing but cry.

And you will find that there are foods you can eat that are just as delicious. Yesterday I had grilled filet mignon and grilled zucchini for lunch. Today I'm having broiled lobster tail and salad.
Does that sound like I"m deprived because I can't have cake?
Oh and I'm really bad - I told my husband it was my special diet food. LOL!

Turn on the music and start dancing. A song typically lasts 3-4 minutes. If you are sitting in a chair do leg lifts or arm circles or toe taps.

I was eating lettuce just fine at 4 weeks out. I use Bibb lettuce or leaves of Romaine as the "bread" for the sandwich.
I had 3/4 of a cheeseburger on Saturday with Bibb lettuce for the bun.

hockeyfan7 got a reaction from Bufflehead in Slider foods
My surgeon considers any carbs pretty much slider foods. Every time I go in for a follow up he reminds me not to eat mashed potatoes. He has this hang up about mashed potatoes.
I always remind him that I hate mashed potatoes and I'd rather eat a can of Little Friskies.

hockeyfan7 got a reaction from ALittleLessSarah in 7 Months Post Op- not losing weight
I wasn't losing at 800 to 900 calories. I went to 1100 to 1200 and now the scale is dropping. I also make sure not to get any carbs that aren't veggies or fruit. My body seems to hate carbs in the form of any kind of grains.

It's normal to have doubts. But you have to weigh which is more important - getting your health back or running the possibility of a complication. Yes they can happen. But there are many people who have had the surgery with no complications. All surgeries have risks. But your diabetes and other co-morbidities are risks to your health and life too.
I don't have a never. I have had some diet soda. I tried ice cream but found it really nasty and way too sweet. You may find your taste buds change. I used to eat Lay's potato chips by the 1 lb bagful. I tried one at a church picnic a couple of weeks ago and it was awful. I used to eat candy bars for lunch. Now sweets do not appeal to me at all.

Have you tried marinating the chicken in something like fat free Italian dressing or cooking it in some chicken broth?
With hamburgers I have to have mine medium instead of well done to be able to eat it.
I like pork with fat free honey mustard dressing.
We have a Nu Wave oven like you see on TV and it's well worth the money. You can cook your meat from frozen and it stays really juicy. My husband hates turkey but he will eat turkey cooked in the Nu Wave because it's not all dried out.
My surgery was June 1st. I'm down 29 lbs since surgery. I haven't had any problems with any foods but I'm a band to sleeve revision and my sleeve is a little larger - he only took out 75%.

Well I was sleeved June 29th 2015. I went from a tight 44 jeans to wearing a 38 today. I have to give away so much things. I will hopefully get clearance for the gym Tuesday. I wish I would have done this year's ago.

hockeyfan7 got a reaction from Running2theSleeve in Pre op- which should I choose ?
My surgeon told me that actually the sleeve isn't all that new. He said that with really, really obese people who were having bypass surgery years ago that they would do a sleeve first so they could lose some weight and then go back in and do the bypass. And they were finding that people lost weight with just the sleeve procedure and were able to do well with that so they started offering just the sleeve procedure by itself.
However, if you have GERD or severe heartburn, many people have found that the sleeve makes it worse. I got rid of my GERD with a hernia surgery but many on here have talked about the heartburn with the sleeve.

hockeyfan7 got a reaction from Miss Mac in Pureed foods, really?
I was on liquids and purees at the same time. I had to be able to drink Protein shake on the morning of day 3 to be able to leave the hospital. My list was Protein shakes, Greek yogurt, broth, cream Soups and a few other things I don't remember. I went to soft foods like scrambled eggs on day 8 and then on solid foods on day 10.
My surgeon's plan is solid foods between day 10 and day 14. He doesn't like for people to stay on liquids for very long - he wants us to begin to learn to eat solids and the right solids as soon as possible.

hockeyfan7 got a reaction from tera1982 in No protein powders?!?
I started on solid food on day 10 after surgery and haven't had a Protein shake since. I get 80 to 90 grams a day. I pick Proteins that have high values and don't eat things that only have 8 or 10 or 12 grams in a serving.
My NUT told me you should strive to get the higher levels but you may not be able to do so immediately.

hockeyfan7 got a reaction from lucky1gg33 in From lapband to sleeve? Anyone?
Yes I did. I had the lap band in 2012 and by earlier this year I was throwing up everything I ate. I lost about the same amount of weight with the band you did. They couldn't get me in the green zone with the fill.
I decided at the end of April to switch and had a revision from band to sleeve in one surgery on June 1st. I'm so happy with the revision. No more throwing up. The scale is moving downward. I can eat chicken again - I could never eat chicken with the band. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
And the best part is no more port in my stomach that would move and scrape on a nerve and give me a sharp stabbing pain!

I do the same thing you are - I eat between 1000 and 1200 per day. Are you losing? If you are losing and you are comfortable it shouldn't be a big deal.
I stick to Protein, veggies and some fruits. I don't do the carbs and the only sweets I eat are sugar free Fudgesicles.
I am in week 7 and my surgeon says it's fine. As long as I'm getting 80-100 grams of Protein a day and not eating carbs and sweets he's fine with it. We're seeing the scale go down.
Are you a straight sleeve surgery or did you have a band to sleeve revision? I had a revision and he only took out about 75% instead of the normal 80-85% of the stomach to line up with the scarring in the esophagus so I wouldn't spring a leak.
I eat about 5 oz of protein a meal along with either a small salad or some grilled zucchini or green Beans.
