  1. I just had mine done two weeks ago. Band was removed and the sleeve done in the same surgery. I was in the hospital 2 days which is what my surgeon does for all sleeve and bypass patients. I haven't had any problems and have been able to each anything I've wanted to this week without any vomiting or stomach upset. No complications so far and no regrets. I have been more tired with this surgery than I did with the band surgery, but I'm also 3 years older. I had less pain and barely used any pain meds in the hospital and none once I got home.

    Insurance coverage for new procedure

I have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. They paid for my band in 2012 and paid for its removal and my sleeve two weeks ago with no problems at all. I just had to pay my maximum out of pocket of $3,200 for the removal/sleeve. I didn't have to jump through any hoops at all.

    Need advice / apprehensive

I had my revision on June 1 so I'm 2 weeks out. I am totally happy so far. With the band I was throwing up all the foods I was supposed to eat and was eating anything that would stay down so I was gaining. After 3 months of trying to get the band adjusted my surgeon and I made the decision to switch. I've lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks. So far I have had zero instances of throwing up or nausea or anything and I have been able to tolerate a lot of foods. I haven't found anything that is bothering me yet. My surgeon used the same incisions as the band so I don't have new incisions. He took the band out and did the sleeve in the same surgery. I was in the hospital for two days and then home. No complications at this point.
