  1. I am a floor nurse and went back 1 week post op from having gastric bypass. A huge mistake. I struggle getting fluids in. Fellow staff get angry due to me not being able to assist with lifts. I have not been able to meet my protein goals since returning which i think caused a 3 week stall. Thankfully I have been able to avoid dehydration but i really advise you to take the time your dr recommends. I didnt listen and I have been paying for it. Good luck.

    FRUSTRATED

I am 3 weeks post op and have been @ a stall for 2 weeks. I know stalls happen and I am trying to stay positive but i am finding it hard to. I mean why did I even go through this whole ordeal if I am not seeing a decrease in weight or measurements. I am following my plans and have not cheated. I don't know what else to do. Uugghhhhh. I need help.
  3. @@skyjones I'm doing well. The first 2 days post op were challenging but now im starting to figure things out. Once the staples were removed a lot of the discomfort subsided. I have the same challenges as everyone else: figuring out how to get all protein and fluids in on a daily basis and figuring out more variety in my meal choices. Im staying positive and active (i've been walking a lot) trying to avoid disappointment by not weighing too often ( goal is maybe 1/wk)
  4. I had my first post op appt today. Staples removed and down 8lbs. My SW: 267, pre surgery weight: 244, CW: 236. I'm 5'5". I was really down about not having a double digit loss. Am I expecting too much?
  5. I had my bypass on 7/8. I was nauseous for the first 2 days post op. Eventually is subsided. Hope it gets better.

    Surgery on a few hours

Congratulations to you all. Happy thoughts and prayers to you all. I'm 5 days post op so I will be right here on the loser's bench waiting for you.
  7. Just arriving at the hospital. Nervous. Guess I will talk with you all on the post side.

    its go Time

Everything went well. Yesterday was rough. I had a lot of nausea and pain all day yesterday. Probably because i had the hernia repair as well. Today is a lot smoother. No nausea. Minimal pain. Thank you all for the words of support.
  9. Surgery scheduled for 1pm tomorrow. My emotions are all over the place. I'm excited, anxious, and afraid. Doubts make me question if I should cancel but I know I have to go through with this to ensure that I am able to watch my children grow older. I can't believe my time has finally come. Please keep me in your prayers.

    Today is the big day!

Congrats. You are leaving and I'm beginning. Well wishes to you. Hoping for a speedy recovery for the both of us.
  11. I am having the same feelings. My RNY is scheduled for tomorrow. I know logically this is the best thing I can do but the fear keeps creeping in. I will pray for your peace of mind.

    Surgery

Scheduled for July 8th. I only have to do the clear liquid diet for the 24 hrs prior to my surgery day. I am so excited to finally be able to say it's my turn. Good luck to everyone and see you all on the post side.
  13. I am so excited. I finally got my surgery date. What a great birthday gift. I was doubtful about going through this process but thanks to a shopping excursion, I am more determined than ever to have this surgery. Let the countdown begin....6 days until I am reborn.
  14. Anyone still in the pre-op phase waiting for insurance approval? Anyone in the Rochester,NY area?

    Pre-op Buddies

Thanks. I have my last appt (surgical consult) on July 2nd. Then they submit to insurance for approval.

    Pre-op Buddies

I know what you mean about being paranoid. The waiting is almost too much. I am so worried that something will keep me from going forward in this process. This is my last option and can't wait to be on the post op side.
  17. I have an umbilical hernia that is very large. I mean i look as if i am 6 months pregnant. I am so worried the surgeon will either refuse to do my RNY or not be able to repair the hernia at the same time. It would be great to hear others thoughts and experiences with this.
  18. I'm new to this. I started this journey in February of this year. I have attended all of the required nutrition appointments as well as the other required tests my doctor ordered. My last appointment before submission to the insurance company for approval is July 2nd. I am having a difficult time deciding between the sleeve and Roux en Y. I have a BMI of 43 and high blood pressure, sleep apnea, GERD/ Acid reflux, as well as osteoarthritis and knee/joint pain. I have friends that are constantly telling me I am just too lazy and am looking for the easy way out as well as others saying because I weigh 258, I not "big" enough for surgery. I've heard that this is the best site for non-conditional support. Hopefully I can get help with choosing the best surgery for me as well as finding the best protein and vitamin supplements.
  19. Getting off my blood pressure meds. Getting out of plus sized clothing. Taking pictures with my kids. Walking without getting winded. Taking my dog for walks. Actually having the confidence to go on dates.
  20. Good luck on Tuesday @ freelee. I cant wait to finally have a date.
  21. Does anyone have BCBS NY. If so how long does it take for insurance approval for RNY. I have the summer off and really want to get the surgery during that time.
  22. Thanks. I was set on the RNY until a few friends started talking about all the negative possibilities that could happen. I'm guilty of letting them get in my head
