  1. The view from this much post op is interesting. Life has gone on, and I've adjusted and accepted the life changes that resulted from VSG without much thought anymore. I go to restaurants and eat smartish, but am not overly crazy about monitoring anymore. I know that I cannot eat large portions of anything without it coming back up, so I know that my calorie input pretty much manages itself. My wife and family also no longer see my food intake as unusual, its just a facet of my life, like being left handed or something. After the dizzying drop in weight of the first two months, I am losing slowly, maybe 2-3 lbs a week, and it comes off again without much thought or notice. Frankly, I just feel like a normal person who gets some exercise and watches not to over eat. It works for me. So the upshot is I pretty much feel "normal" as opposed to feeling like an overweight person striving for normal. It seemed like a momentous decision at the time, doesn't seem like such a gargantuan ordeal now. Still, best thing I ever did. Good luck everyone!

    Long term patients

I'm about 10 months post surgery, about 85 lbs down, been hovering 20 lbs over my target but not really worried about it. Frankly, I don't even think about weight or overeating anymore. The sleeve controls portions, and I just pretty much eat healthy. I think that after you push through the "problem" weight that causes the severe obesity, you kind of settle into a normalcy that becomes your new lifestyle. All the things that came with being severely obese kind of fall away as distant memories. Best thing I ever did.

    Self Sabotage

One thing I've noticed in life after VSG is that the choices are a lot easier to make. Whatever it is you crave, you can't have much of it anyways so it's really not the death struggle with temptation so it's easier to make smart choices and if you do stray a bite to two it's not the end of the world.

    Buyer's Remorse?

Sleeved June 3, best thing I've ever done. Down over 60 lbs, don't even worry about what I eat, because I eat such small portions that the weight goes down, exercise or not. Hope you feel the same way. New lease on life here.

I did full cardio and weight training 3 weeks out

    Recovery time

Its not bad. I was sleeved on Tuesday and went to work on Friday. Physically, I'd say 2-3 weeks before you can lift weights, but there was nothing debilitating about the process after the first couple of days.

    Onederland!

    Awesome
  11. About 5 weeks out, about 800-900 cals a day, 70g protein
  12. I was sleeved on a Tuesday and went to the office on Friday. Planned my meals and liquids. I have a pretty desk related job, but it was not hard to work.

    June 2015 sleevers

I was sleeved on June 2 and recovered very quickly. Was on Clear liquids for 3 days, full liquids to day 14, and now am on soft foods and just using common sense food. After 30 days resumed physical training that included strength and heavy cardio. Can now withstand harder cardio than before the surgery. Lost nearly 30 in the first 3 weeks post-op, and hit a short stall. Worked through the stall by strict diet and heavy exercise. Now am at 42 lbs lost post op, 52 total lost. Best thing I have ever done, but you need to keep in mind that WLS is but one tool to use in a whole health overhaul. I keep telling myself "you can only get there by getting there. Do the work."

    June Sleevers!

Sleeved on June 2. Dropped a quick 30, then hit the three week stall. I think I've punched through it by some heavy cardio and gym work, so now Im down about 35 in less than a month.

    Any Kaiser Permanente Patients?

Generally positive. The Options class was a hassle, and I had a 6 month delay between referral and surgery, but the surgeon was great, the staff good, and so far so good.
  19. Im a little over 2 weeks, Im back at the gym doing cardio, 30 mins on elliptical, but no weights yet, will start lifting at 4 weeks out.

    Day 8

Sleeved 6/2. First couple of days I food daydreamed, but not so much anymore. Now I am acknowledging that no matter what food I am worshipping, I cant eat much of it anyways, so whats the point. I actually tried to cheat with some chips and salsa and couldnt.
