I am only 3 1/2 mos post-op. I eat out about once a week due to travel. I usually order soup if I can ... even if all i eat is the broth. It is less expensive than a full meal & quite filling.

Feeling Tired all The Time
WorkinOnMe replied to newbie_2025's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The first two weeks were the worst for me, but then my energy started to return & I have felt great since then. Take it easy and do what you can without pushing too hard. You'll start feeling better soon! -
Best Unflavored Protein Powders?
WorkinOnMe replied to kelseysleevedup's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I use Nectar unflavored medical grade. Not much protein per scoop, but i can't taste it & I add it to a lot of foods/drinks. -
You have to be on a computer & authorize the Myfitnesspal app. It will then synch all your info to the app.

I second that! 3 1/2 months out & I still take my prilosec every other day.

Best of luck to you both! Can't wait to hear how it goes ... see you on the losers bench! -
Babbs ... I love your posts every day!

I'm in the same boat as you! Almost 4 months post-op & hit a stall the last week. I am close to onederland as well & nearing my hundred pound loss. {Sigh} Bumping up my fluids, tracking protein like crazy, and walking every day. Here's to hoping we both see a boost soon!!!

First appt after referral to Bariatric was in Oct 2014. Surgery was May 2015. Once appointments were all done it was only 3 weeks to get insurance approval & surgery done.

Any Type 2 Diabetics out there?
WorkinOnMe replied to mildredskeepers's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wasnt on insulin, just 3000mg metformin. Oral meds were stopped 2 days pre-op & havent taken anything since. Glucose was 99 two hours post-op. I would wait to see what your endo says. -
I still get hiccups every time I eat. Usually only one or two & not so powerful that they hurt, but it is mildly annoying. My NUT & surgeon both says it is normal though, so I deal with it.

Good luck! Today is the start of the rest of your life ... embrace it. See you on the losers bench!

More energy or less energy / fatigue after sleeve
WorkinOnMe replied to bhopeful's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had little energy & lots of pain (previous injury) before surgery. I was also saddled with several co-morbidities that only added to my lack of energy. The first 2-3 weeks after surgery I tired easily & would nap after busy days. But by week 4 I started to notice an increase. I am now 3 1/2 months post-op. I recently walked my first 5K & finished in 49.16 minutes. I walk 3-5 miles a day. My want to do things has increased tremendously and my pain is almost non-existent. Best. Decision. EVER! -
WLS & the change in stomach acid can cause ulcers during recovery. I was on something else for a hiatal hernia (which I didn't really have) but my surgeon put me on prilosec for 3mos following surgery & explained that it works better than the other medication & why it is needed.

2 weeks... it was hell! But sooooo worth it in the end.

Sleep study/cpap/surgery ?
WorkinOnMe replied to HopeandAgony's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My father just had a surgical proceedure that required general anesthesia & the anesthesiologist had to adjust what was used & how much due to his severe apnea. This is the only reason I can think of for it. I wasn't required to have one though, so not really 100% sure as to the reasons. I'd be interested in knowing why if anyone ever gets a definitive answer. -
My son realized the same thing when he was pushing his daughter's stroller. Now when he know he is going to be pushing he puts his around his ankle!
-
Hoping it isnt something major! But like Babbs said a call to the doctor is needed. Good luck!!
-
Welcome to the losers club!! Sounds like you are off to a good start. Make sure you keep moving & let us know how you are doing.
-
Whatever works for you! I only weighed at dr appts for the first 6 weeks. After that, I only weigh once a week.
-
Thanks! Gonna try this.

I can't drink anything milk-based, so I use Nectar fruit flavored ones. I can get them in individual packets & have a variety of flavors. I also use the Nectar unflavored to add to things like yogurt. You can probably find them near you, but nashuanutrition.com has them.

Are you on any kind of BP meds? Sounds like what happened to me when my BP was low. I would check with you Doc to be sure.

Any teachers out there...returning to work?
WorkinOnMe replied to ForLfKlovr's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't see why not. I was only out of my classroom 2 weeks. I felt great, no complications, no pain meds, no major fatigue. However, also worked with my Admin to have strategies in place in case I needed them. Worked very well for me! Good luck!
