I have too read there's not any long term data, but it can be concluded on your own. They remove a large portion of your stomach. This gives the individual an opportunity at a fresh and jumpstart. It give an opportunity to reset the body while producing drastic results in the beginning. If you choose to avoid being serious with lifestyle changes you will have to start over and go to the last resort of bypass. If you feel that strongly long term results, effects, and possible revision its up to you to make the changes stick and be successful.

my appointment is at 12:30p tomorrow if it makes you feel any betterHi all my 13th partners. I just found out I don't need to be at the hospital till 11. I was originally told I should be first, and now I'm the 3rd. I had my mind set that I would be in there early and I won't have to wait around. Not to mention I can't even have anthing to drink. I am just so nervous and I have been getting so upset and crying to my husband. I just hope that they will be able to give me something when I first get there to calm me down. I'm such a BABY ..

I went back and forth with the idea of getting surgery for years. I finally decided why not. Nothing has been effective for me and thousands of dollars have been wasted and more weight gained. I decided that's it's for me to finally move forward with surgery. My only regret at this point is not doing it sooner.

Great idea! I'll past one coming home.If you live near a Sonic, get yourself a bag of sonic ice for your freezer (or at least a couple of cups of it). They have the best crushed ice and it really helped me to stay hydrated the first week after surgery.

This has been my experience. I don't understand it. I had one day of running to the restroom now I can barely go.I was just the opposite. I used BariEssentials with skim milk and was almost constipated.

I see a lot of trainers doing that. I thought it was funny and ridiculous at first, but now I'm so on board.

so true I haven't been cheating for that reason. I just try to avoid being ridiculously hungry. LolIt was worse for me the first 3 days then got a little easier. It just sucked, but after jumping through hoops for 9 months I was damn determined to be successful on my pre op diet.
Just knuckle down and do it. I even went as far as to put marks on my thumb and index finger that I saw everytime I put something to my mouth. It reminded me to stay on track.
Good luck. You can do it.

I was thinking that way too, you're right. I appreciate it.Assuming you're on either a liquid/no-calories/low-calorie pre-op diet. That should be fine! I'm on a low-cal diet and they encourage unlimited veg but only two portions of fruit a day so veg is good and you're on the right track. Carbs are the min contributor to high glycogen in the liver so, minimising or eliminating over a period would most certainly shrink the liver and if you compare what you're having now to what you may have been prior, I'm sure it is a lot less so no worries. Also, some people don't even have pre-op diets and are only required to fast the night before only drinking Water, I may do this also depending but I do think I a, not to eat anything after a certain time.
So don't stress on the pre-op, the worry is what makes it harder and I'll that matters is that you aim to follow it to a T!
Good luck.

I have been drinking water like crazy and I added veggies to my diet. You will be fine trust me! I had a thread on this cause I was doing bad and although our diets are different (I am allowed food with mine, which may sound easier but is just as complicated due to portion control), the change in diet is an adjustment but, as long as you are following it as much as you can it should be fine! The occasional lapse here or there is not unlikely but try to avoid it. And Water helps to flush and cleanse!!!

Thank you. I'll look for them. Someone on here mentioned they had found flavored sipping broths. I would like to have some on hand for afterwards

Protein Bars, Soups, and Protein Shake. All which Are hard to eat because the taste is horriblewhat exactly can you have on your pre op diet?
-
It's hard going from regular food to this. I'm nervous about being rejected because of my liver size.

My surgery is scheduled for 01/14. I have been trying to stick to my pre op diet, but it's been a struggle. I'm nervous about shrinking my liver enough to be successful.
Any advice...

I'm scheduled for January 14.

that's so soon! Good luck to you!I had my initial appt. on 11/11/15, approval 2.5 weeks later, and scheduled for tomorrow, 1/5/16 -- could've gotten in last week, but I chose to wait until 2016. So, in total, it will have taken less than 8 weeks (that included 2 major holidays) for me from start to surgery and could've been done in 7. I think it all depends on the surgeon/clinic and the insurance requirements. I had originally contacted 2 surgeons. The one I went with got me in and all tests done within a few days of my phone call. The other one took 3 weeks to confirm my insurance and return my original call -- I already had a planned surgery date with the other guy by then!

I looked it up. Sounds good. Sounds better than sipping regular chicken broth all day. Let me know what you think I want to order some.

That's really helpful information! Thank you!

It's tough. You are not cheating, but you are doing what works for you. Many people don't understand that and will become negative. It is important to have some support.
Perhaps you can find someone you can trust by bringing it up in an indirect way (like refer to it as someone else's decision) and see the reaction.

I'm happy for you too. Sometimes we have to teach ourselves when it's ok to be selfish. This is a perfect time. You will be fine ( in all ways, girl ????????) you deserve it. Mini strokes are not something to take lightly. I wish you nothing but the best. I'm with you.

From my experience they don't require a specific amount of weight to be loss, but want to see something steady to show you can follow a program of some sort.
My cousin and I both went through the process. We both had concerns about losing too much weight, but it was told to us that it's better to lose what you can in order to have a safer procedure so I would recommending asking your doctor/surgeon more questions on it.
Don't get too comfortable eating everything you want to shrink your liver and not have complications.

I'm in CA date scheduled for January 14. The hoops for insurance are definitely more nerve wrecking than than the procedure. It gives you one more things to have to worry about, but by the grace of God things are working out.

Your nails and feet are fine. They will put the oxygen monitor on your index finger regularly, you are going to regret being raggedy after surgery. [emoji1]
